Everyone claiming that this isn't real, just google the difference between the types of vehicles. F1 Racers race cars half as heavy with engines just as or even more powerful. Both are great and require different skills, but it is clear that F1 is undoubtedly faster.

I suspect the image on the left is a track day because at 0.22 we see that well known GT car the ford focus ST. Also there is a lotus 7 copy of some description eg a caterham at the beginning. Whilst im not arguing the validity of some of the figures about eau rouge i dont think this is the video demonstrating it.

GT cars are tuned to run long races, you don't think if GT cars only ran 2 hour races, that they would tune the engines accordingly? You can put an enging in a F1 car reliable enough to run for 24 hours, however you would need 5 times as many drivers to handle the stress and exhaustion from racing an F1 car.

Considering Radicals are quick machines. But, on the clip, starting from 0.06, you can see, that 3 F1 cars went through Eau Rouge as the 1 Radical goes by at the same time lol Thats how fast F1 cars are through the corners.

The GT car that enters the frame at 0:35 is two seconds ahead of the next F1 car. That F1 car then closes the gap and overtakes that GT car in Eau Rouge in less than that time. MINDBLOWN.

The comments regarding the camera lenses and where they were placed on the track are pretty hilarious, really. Are you trying to argue that F1 cars aren't really that much faster than the GT cars? You can watch the distance they cover regardless of how it looks and see they cover more ground in less time. The camera was placed after a tight turn? Well, that's yet more evidence of the speed disparity. GT and F1 are very different, Some people prefer one over the other. That's it.

For this to be a proper comparison BOTH shots need to be EXACTLY the same, which they aren't. as you said IF they used a wide and a standard lens then the validity flies out the window right there. The camera on the left is lower to the ground and is definitely looking more to the right than the camera on the right. if the track is your scale (distance over time) just look at the red/white barrier too see how dissimilar they are.

@LaterzMcGhee You are right that the track is shot with different lenses and it looks different, but that remark doesn't add or reduce any speed of the actual cars.

Both videos don't need to be shot with the same angle because the track itself doesn't change, all you have to do is look at certain key points on the track (for example the apex on the first (left) turn. And from that point measure the time it takes for the car to go to the pit exit. Different angle, but same distance.

@Khazar01 yeah that's a good point, but i think this video is more of an intuition based comparison, as in how fast the cars LOOK like theyre ggoing, i think that is the purpose of the video. anyway this is probably a corner F1 cars can go flat out due to their light wieght and downforce, or something like that. it just doesn't seem entirely honest/fair for some reason

And as you said, F1 do take that corner flat out, you can look at any onboard F1 video just to make sure. Also there is another thing, both of these cameras are placed after a tight right turn, and the GT cars don't have the same acceleration as an F1,that's also one of the reasons why they appear so much slower there.

Great comparison of cars going thru Eau Rouge. It gives just a glimpse of how fast F1 cars really are. I've got to agree w/ the other comments. The GT cars look slow going thru Eau Rouge. Yet they are being driven at their limit. And just to think that these relatively slow GT cars are really hopped-up racing versions of road-going supercars.

I prefer road car style racing because F1 isn't even like driving a "car" its a totally different machine with wheels. It's literally a jet on wheels. I prefer dealing with over steer and under steer that's the fun of driving imo.

@Kuriousgorge87 All forms of racing will take the same line, the racing line doesnt change for a different class of motorsport as its the shortest way around that particular track, the only difference are braking zones and where you can get on the throttle.

adjusting to oversteer/understeer can be done by adjusting the front/rear wing load in a formula 1 car

Indeed both frames are not slowed down, how ever, the frame on the right is shorter and more compact, giving you the illusion that the f1 cars are going a lot faster then they really are, undoubtably the f1's are going faster then the gt ones, but they're not going as fast as illustrated in this video, for a real comparison, both videos would have to be shot from exactly the same angle (but they're not) using the same camera (or settings)

The video on the left is not slowed down. If you take a look toward the right of that image you'll see a man wearing a white hat poking his head through the fence. He turns his head as cars pass and it's at what I would consider a normal speed. Are the cars on the left moving at full speed, not sure. Are the cars right moving amazingly fast, definitely.

I love all sports car racing but gt is different setup tha f1. F1 is slower top speed than lmp cars at le sarthe, but they're not set up for that. Also LeMans cars engines last more than 2 couple hour races! :p Not sure which I love more but hard to really compare them IMHO.
