  • Trevor as songwriter is incredible and as an guitarist : Awesome.

there could not have been a more perfect fit for a new YES member.

His vocals and harmonizing with Jon also a perfect fit.

Everyone a Yes fan should have his solo Lps int heir collection as well

    Highly recommended!

  • Amazing!

  • Seen this tour at the the Spectrum in Philly they put on a great show.

  • What struck me funny about this concert -- there was NO animosity betw anyone, truly. All were happy to collaborate and play ea others' songs. But there seemed to be just a little competition over Chris Squire! There was a small raised platform mid-stage. When they did a Howe-oriented song, Squire and Howe would stand on it and play off ea other. When they did a Rabin-oriented song, Squire and Rabin would do same (as seen above). It was cute, it was like "Mom likes ME best"!

  • Steve Howe doesn't look happy. I sense some insecurity there.

  • @gorfjorf2112112 lol Right.... *Steve Howe* is insecure in his guitar playing....

  • @randomparadise1 will you just SHUT UP?!?!

  • God yes. They're all up there and they all sound great together. Wow. Amazing chorus. Union. Eventhough Union was splised here, dubbed there, rushed, demo'd, ghetto'd...

The material on Union is very, very strong. This was a great album from the 1st listen to the 10,000th.

  • TREVOR RABIN = THE MAN!!!

I wish all the ''I'm so totally in love with Steve Howe, it's allmost gay-Yes fans'' would check this out too (instead of all the Yes with Steve Howe video's).

That would probably give 'm a whole new perspective on Trevor Rabin..

  • @MrDunkJunk

You are right!!!! Trevor is the man!!!.... His songs on the Union record are the only ones that any band member say that they like....I love Billy's song as well. A.W.R.......it now seems that it will be 2012.....No matter when....

Trev, Jon, and Rick.....Yes will live on!!!!!

  • @MrDunkJunk Agree. I DO love SH it's almost gay (it's not because I'm a woman). We used to have these arguments on the old newsgroup. Many would say that it's Trevor's fault that Yes has lost its sound. I had said that if you want to blame someone for why the band doesn't sound the way it did with SH, then blame SH for leaving, NOT TR for coming in and having his project "Cinema" usurped by Atlantic and turned into "Yes."

  • @sickprogfunk Very well stated! :D

  • Trevor! stay cool my man!

  • Thank you very much for posting this video! I was at the 1991 concert at the Spectrum in Phila. Great show!!

  • Best,best,best,best!!!I'm from Russia!

  • Me encanta el mantón de manila del Wakeman.

  • Trevor Rabin for the WIN !

  • few bands create hymns you can see it when very diferent people like wakeman , howe , even bruford smile making this other best song of yes, it really lift you up, and no one is the best guitarrist , you can not compare , both of them are exceptional ... trevor flyes with the electrical guitasr as howe can bring us from the deepest sorrow and homeless going through madness and getting the highest where the soul lives

  • @jotasky7 yes

  • Trevor originally wrote this as a solo piece..check out his solo "Live In L.A." record from 2003 documenting his 1989 solo "Can't Look Away" tour show at The Roxy, on the intro to the song "Cover Up"..it's "Lift Me Up" in all its majesty..and here it is, my very favorite Yes song, in all its majesty & beauty. What an inspirational, meaningful song of hope, sung & played supremely by Trevor..Jon, everyone.

  • Simmons drums came and went. It took special talent to give them life and not just noise. All of Yes's members had visions beyond the usual track. It's amazing how far they made it.

  • This song is really such a great example of how powerful and beautiful prog rock is.

  • Trevor Rabin great guitarist!!!

  • Now this is music at it's best!

  • bruford simmon's sound great here

  • As much as I love Trevor Rabin, the wrong person had the electic. Steve Howe is the one.

  • I Saw the Union tour in Raleigh, NC, WOW what a show, way too much talent for one stage!!! Thank you Mr. Trevor Rabin, for the Yes music we have all enjoyed, post 1980, for without wonderful your spark, I don’t think this fabulous band would have continued. I will add this, Alan White is one of my favorite (top 10) drummers, but to say Bill Bruford was the "backing" drummer would be a misstatement, Bill and Alan were both playing the part of percussionist extraordinaire that night.

  • This song is so beautiful. LOVE YES 'TIL THE DAY I DIE...

  • What an incredible video of an incredible band. I was truly amazed to see fleeting glimpses of Bill Bruford- percussionist extraordinaire-backing Alan White on drums.

Thank God for Yes, for they indeed lift me up.

  • Thanks for the video. I've always loved this song and this is one of the few videos I've seen with them singing it in concert. Great song!

  • yes is playing an outdoor 4th of july concert with peter frampton this summer here in cinci...hope to see it, haven't seen yes in 'bout 15 years..one of my all time fav bands

  • @westrokker I hope you have a great time there. For me, YES isn't YES without Rabin and Anderson though. They are truly the "sound" of YES.

  • @Mitsy1212 rabin is not the sound of yes since he joined yes over 10 years after it was formed

  • One of the best bands on the planet, if not the best :P

  • Trevor Rabin is always amazing. This song doesn't get the recognition of Lonely Heart, but it's 100 times better.

  • this is such sick song

  • you forgot to mention this show was at

    mcnicols arena..

which sadly to say no longer exists :(

  • The UNION album of YES is amazing. I nerver heard those sogs live. Thanks for the video and the torrent man!!!!

    Five stars for you..

  • Great song. A real fusion of "classic" and "new" Yes. Truly in the spirit of "Union" as performed on that tour.

  • This is musicians music at its finest. Yes is the greatest band ever!

  • Are you kidding me?? AMAZING!!!!

  • On of the best bands ever !

  • Fantastic, An Absolute Progressive Dreamteam!!

  • saw this show in tampa,fl. thought it was GREAT!

  • Trevore really adds to this song. Im not a trvor fan but this song and his solo are phenomenal

  • agreed.

  • Saw this tour in Philadelphia in 1991.

  • Me too. The Spectrum rocks! Great musicians playing their best.

  • Fuckin' Ay, Yeahhhh!!

  • I've seen all good yes tours since Tales. This Union was as good or if not better than any.

  • Wowowow..

I'll always kick myself (kick) for not getting tickets to this tour.

You get into Trevor's solo, then realize Jon is there - then get into Bill's drums - then there's Rick, Steve, Chris. Tony, Alan..

And they're on a revolving stage..

The mind cannot encompass this much talent...

  • My all time favorite YES song!

  • Best song along with miracle of life from that crap album onion

  • I love this album. It is very different from classic Yes, but they did some really neat stuff. "The More We Live (Let Go)" is another great one that is completely different.

  • This song accompanied me to school on my Walkman for weeks on end back in the early 90s. A right stonking old anthem. Video makes me laugh - a proper cultural car crash of baldness, hair gel and shoulder pads - don't think anyone'll miss those jackets ;)

  • I lost a fortune in the shoulder pad futures market.

  • Great band, great song and great vocals all around. Thanks for posting this.

  • Thanks for this video. Yes is awesome, and Rabin in particular is so amazing. Love it.

  • The roadies on that tour sure earned their money.

  • I'd pay to be on that crew.

  • Me too!!!!!

  • Steve Howe reduced to banging away on an acoustic in the background? shurely shome mistake

  • The lead guitar part of this song is not exactly Steve's style.

  • one could argue that this song is not exactly yes's style

  • True. This song was primarily written by Trevor.

  • Some could say that Asia is not to Steve Howe's style.

  • Nope but he does well with them

  • Trevor Rabin is so incredible that I named my son after him 24 years ago...

Thank you for your gift of perpetual positve energy!!!

  • Chilling. The greatest assembly of accomplished musicians ever in rock and roll. The wall of sound that is Yes.

  • Trevor Rabin: Always one for the grandest intros. I love his writing! How many great cadences has he come up with? "Cinema"..."Lift Me Up"..."Can't Look Away"(solo album)...what was the unreleased Cinema tune that ended up as the live intro to "Owner of a Lonely Heart?" that one too!...he's a master at his instrument and a great one for always getting not only a superb guitar tone, but the right one for each tune. Long live Trevor! (and I love Howe dearly, too)

  • I see they gave Bill the easy job.

  • Great tour.

  • wow, to pull this song off live, this shows the immense talent on this stage. ive listened to yes for 30 years, this is OUTSTANDING.

  • Absolutely incredible. Wish I could have seen this tour.

  • Well done gentlemen- well done.

  • these guys are the best!

now i have to apologize to Rush, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles and the Ruddles.

Look me up, look me down! Get well Jon!

  • Whoa . . .

    Like . . .

    Whoa . . .

  • beautiful song!

  • That's so good it makes our ears hard... Long live Yes!

  • in the round concert

  • The "other" guitarist is Steve Howe.

  • I knew Steve. I was asking about Trevor.

  • one of my all time favorite yes songs. thanks for posting this live clip!

  • this is my favorite yes song

  • Who is that other guitarist?

  • Bill Bruford had said of his playing with Alan White on that tour that he(Alan) was the meat and potatoes and he (Bill)was the hollandaise sauce, lol.

  • Bill and Alan are both great. Too bad we haven't seen them do something together since.

  • That was a great blip in Modern Drummer. I also liked how he said that Alan was the big dog (I forget the breed) and he was the "beloved terrier nipping at his heels."

  • The vocals in this are AMAZING!!!

  • thats mainly because on the backing vocals they are using the pre recorded album ones

  • simply amazing. damn!

  • This brings back memories...saw the first leg in Chicago, couldn't believe it was ALL these guys on stage, and I had tickets for me and eight of my friends, and it was awesome - this song was a highlight but the whole show ROCKED. Yes, about that DVD...? I'd love a copy.

  • this is the reunion tour, back in the 90s, the spinning stage right?

if it is, i won tickets from kbpi (ROCKS THE ROCKIES) tyvm4p!

  • The Union Tour rocked!

  • My favorite song from this lineup. It came at a time of changes and soul-searching in my life and really meant a lot to me; to see it here is so nice. I have a lot of catching up with my favorite band to do so I appreciate this. thank you. Also I know there is so much debate here about competing members and I don't pretend to be good at it, but I really believe that all the varied members have had something unique to bring to the band, love it or hate it. I love it.

  • Does anyone know what kind brand of guitar Trevor is playing? I noticed it says Pantera on it. Is that in refrence to Dimebags old band or something else? The headstock looks like a Jackson.

  • ahhh, 'tis a Westone Pantera, great guitars, but long gone, unless you can find them in the pawn shops.

  • ebay

  • Looks like the headstock to an ESP.

  • Back in '91 all i was listening to was metal being in high school (Queensryche/AC/DC/Iron Maiden etc.) until some kid left this tape in my car. I figured i would listen to it and it was pretty cool and put me in a more mellow mood.

  • there are so many good songs called lift me up

  • But no one get even close to this one from YES. Simple that?!

  • actually i prefure moby's lift me up

  • I do! agreed... :)

  • My bad, Allan White is in there also

  • They have the entire cast here, trevor rabin, steve howe, tony kaye, rick wakeman, bill bruford, peter banks, trevor horn, chris squire and Jon Anderson

  • there's no peter banks...everyone else you named is there, though :)

  • I`m 50 yo.I know Yes since the 70`s and Deep Purple was my favorite band at that time. But today, after listening their entire discography I can say :" this is the best band in the world of all times" !!!

  • Wow! Just wow! When I first heard this song I was caught by the catchy intro. I did not know the names of the singers, but I know YES from the song, "Owner of the Lonely Heart." Such a great band. It's like an orchestra. Look how many keboards, and percussions, and the singers sing like choir. It's beautiful and moving, powerful song.

  • Is Howe even in any of these clips? I can't find him.

  • Yeah I saw him at about 3:13 and 3:24

  • Correction .... first Steve Howe shot at 3:14 and then later through the vid. He's playing a 12 string.

  • Some brilliant songs by them here i've only just heard them properly other than on the vice city video game and im very impressed with there level of musicianship anyone notice the satch and steve vai similaritys of the guitar playing? Brilliant songs once again :)

  • I find the history of this band quite amazing. Trevor Rabin being pulled in at the last minute, submits and produces three songs, and two are top 40 hits. ABWH write the rest of the album (except for one Chris Squite song, or 10 songs) and manage to get two hits. Rabin bails out the band on Talk and produces when there is no money to hire one. They guy is so talented and struggled for years before Yes. I am glad he has been so successful with his movie soundtracks. Too bad no more rock music.

  • For some reason I always think they were capable of so much more. In the 80's, yes were stuck in a bubble of melodies that didnt create much emotional release.

It also seemed like when ever bruford is present the band can digress from there bubble and create powerful interesting melodies.

I dunno,.. I could be wrong.

  • Even if it had more to do with the record company "suits" thinking of a new way to milk the Yes franchise than anything else (according to Rabin), it was cool as a one-off tour. It's too bad Trevor hasn't managed to take time over the last decade to record/release any new rock material between doing film scores. What a ridiculously multi-talented guy.

  • AWESOME ! Bruford, Wakeman, Rabin .. all my fovorite YES magicians in one video ! This is brilliant. Thanks for posting :)~

  • o my god, I've been looking for this version forever, this is so much better than the record, it's sick!!

WOW! AWESOME!!! is this out anywhere? vid?dvd?

I need this..i remember seeing this on ch.7.

  • I made a comment on another Yes song-Heart of Sunrise-in which I mentioned they sounded good for 'old guys.' Even not in stereo, I can truthfully say after listening to this video countless times, that they did it even better than in the original, which I have.

It also made me realize this is likely my favorite YES song, and after hearing all I missed back in the seventies on YT, I now also

consider them the best ever band. Do give this song a listen, and check out musicianship.

  • Well I've always considered them the best band ever. Even when I wasn't in complete tune with their music if that makes any sense.

The beauty of Yes is that you can listen to them for 30 years and still hear something new in the same song.

Try doing that with "Whole 'Lotta Love" or " Won't Get Fooled Again".

  • Great song..Trevor writes so many great songs. Its nice to hear all of Yes on it...but truthfully I understand Howe and others just can't get above the small differences.None of these guys NEED the gig..so things kinda sit dormant regarding a Union2 CD.

  • I havnt seen the live vid version of "city of love" 4 ages, is that posted anywhere other than the guitar dude jammin along with it-Actually he does a great job on it,never knew what key it was in 'til I saw that!

  • Chris used the flanger effect on the live version of Leave It also.

  • These guys sound great, I bought this album when it came out way back in 1991 and loved it. Its too bad they didn't continue the "union" spirit with more albums.

  • What is the official video of this concert called?

  • Good to know Amber... now back to reality and the musicians we're here to watch... I know this one breaks away from the norm of Yes songs but this really is something.

  • it's a rabin tune, and one of his best, i might add.

  • it's been a while since I listened to these guys, man the trevor tunes kick arse....chills I tell ya.

  • Sounds to me like nobody can believe in the Teamwork concept when it comes to making great rock & roll music. I like to look at the Union tour as just that, a reunion of friends hooking up, making magic. Lift Me up is a quality song, and it fits for Yes. These lyrics are meaningful. It's an inspirational song about coming back, giving it all you got for a cause.

  • you are right pal!!...Long Live to the Yes music!!!

  • So is Shock To The System.

  • There can only be one! And only one word to describe them as well! YES!

  • When you can create and perform music like this nearly 25 years into your career, you have the gift of the gods. Has a band ever played more rich and varied music for so long?

  • very few... those that have are either disregarded by today's music world-which is a shame because the bands out there today wouldn't be doing what they are doing were it not for the like of Yes, Rush, The Who, et cetera... but the egos they display make them seem like they owe nothing to anyone. Those of us that have been around for more than 3 minutes out of the sunshine know that a band like Yes is out of this world immortal and deserves the respect we give them.

  • Actually I didn't write that, my dad did under my account. But I agree with him. Yes is amazing, and very close to having no equal.

  • No, they haven't.

  • This is a song that really gets you going in the morning. Believe me, it's this, Shock to the System or Rythm of Love.

  • I forgot how great Trevor rabin actually was in these days. I saw Union In mIami small crowd but standing ovation after each song. I agree with you all...how many times can you see so many great musicians together?

  • This song truly kicks ass. It's too bad more harmony didn't reign during these synergizing times.

  • I was only 5 years old when this happened so I missed it :'(

  • inspireing, eternal...reflecting...thanks

  • Jon just doesn't want to put his mike down :)

  • There was nothing negative about this tour, this album, or this line-up of musicians. My only disappointment was that Trevor Horn wasn't invited. I would have LOVED to have heard selections from DRAMA!

  • The Yes songs are better than the ABWH songs. The Union tour was good for the fans, but not for the musicians. Steve How was playing acoustic guitar backing up Lift Me Up? This is why Union was an one-off thing.

  • Lift me up is the best song from Union, yes :)

  • I'm agree with Yesfan90125 because this is the best band this is MegaYes and we have the excelent line-up

  • My favorite song from Union. Wans't able to see them live sadly. What a killer line-up! No one ever has put so much talent under one band and made an album. Excellent!
