"Doku" is Japanese for "poison". She probably caught it just to attribute to her Pokedex, because you have to have caught at least 60 Pokemon to get the national dex after the end of the game.

she's probably leveling up ariel because the next gym is a fire type gym and ariel would be the best pokemon to use against them ^_^
