@izagrith what do u expect the police to do? let a mob of angry protesters occupy the middle of the street and disrupt thousands of working and traveling people? if ur gonna protest, go ahead, but dont break the law then cry when the police come in and do their job. yeah it looks bad, but what do u expect the police to do when they have hundreds of people disobeying commands?
Oh and the guy filming, asking "Why?" so it sounds loud, for dramatic effect? That cop can't hear you muttering into your iPhone, which I'm sure was brought to you by... CAPITALISM! Thanks, Wall Street!
HAHAHAHA take that hippies! I'd like to see any one of those pretentious pot-smoking losers come up with a better plan for America other than "Legalize it." And the cop was joking at the beginning because the truth is, "Peaceful Protest" is just another term for "Let's get high and like, fight the power and stuff. They're just keeping us down, man. Let's spit in those pigs' faces because they're like fascists and whatever, dude." They're anticipating a mob becoming... well, a mob.
These kids don't get it. If you're going to preach about nonviolent resistance, be mature enough to actually stick to it. Don't give me any bullshit about the police starting the problems. They are there to enforce the law, whether you approve of that law or not. This is a classic example of action by the protestors and reaction by the police officers.
"-let loose with batons and pepper spray-" on "protesters" who are BREAKING THE LAW.
You have the right to a peaceful display of your views. Marching down a road screaming at people to change something that they have no control over while storming over police barriers is not exactly peaceful. Was this a riot? No. Was this a peaceful protest? No. We get it, you're upset. Get in line. I am too. You'll get much further if you fight from within, instead of just throwing bricks from your glass house
Fuck majority and dictatorship...both express prejudice attitude. I hope for respect for individual's rights, respecting that each person, despite being different or not part of the majority in this country have equal rights.
Sad thing is I very rarely see anyone fight back. If I was getting beaten in the back with a nightstick by some fat cop, I would grab it from him and beat the shit out of him. Of course there may be repercussions to that but if you're gonna go down then do so as a man. That said, it's very inspiring to see all these courageous people. I'm Canadian and I'm happy to see that our neighbours to the South are acting against this unjust, oppressive system. Go Americans!
@America2470 The police of New York have always been assholes. The difference is during and after 9/11 they actually straightened up for a time because they had to and needed to. In the last number of years it's gone back to the way it used to be, though.
@JoJoRockets52 Typically, these folks can not give a 24/7 live feed from their cell phones, or at best a home HD camera. So they turn on their cameras when they see something. Very difficult to light a scene with a cell phone video camera.
@ALPINESWATCHES All civilians have the right to express their opinions and them selves and that includes both the 99% and the 1%, despite their political labels, religious group, social group or any label or number. If this is a demonstration by a group standing up for this, for all then I say good fro them. However, what were they protesting? They already have the right to free speech. I do think outside the box by the way.
@2arunout Ask yourself something, is the social and economic inequality the system is built on encouraging or discouraging your personal freedoms and liberties or are they holding you down and enslaving you in a debtor's prison? You don't have to perpetuate the disadvantages. The time is now. Stand up.
@ALPINESWATCHES sure, like a number of other people, I feel that I'm being held from some of my personal freedoms. it's a prejudice society that can't be changed with opposing prejudice attitude and anger. What to do? I stand up everyday and oppose that system by exercising my rights to work, go to school, express my self and opinion, etc The time is always now. I understand your comment. I agree.
It's shit like this that makes me think we need police to protect the protesters, even if it was a militia police force because obviously the city police are not doing their job of protecting the people.
I understand the whole peaceful protest stuff, but how about you overpower the police, pick them up, then deposit them on the outskirts of the city or into the river or something. Requires less violence then they use, and it gets them out of your hair.
Don't let the media tell you what to think, what to do and how to feel. These corporations own the media. It's very easy for your mind to be manipulated. The cops ARE the 99% too.
It's embarrassing how people are dismissing the protesters as a bunch of hippies. It's real easy to not take the youth seriously isn't it? The movement is only growing bigger in New York, and it's not only a bunch of kids. There are teachers, nurses, social-workers, people who see budget cuts first hand. The protests have gone global Greece, New York, Chile, it's happening everywhere. They are protesting for all of us, so that life doesn't have to be so stressful, and hard.
You don't know the first thing about me. I have two university degrees, and nearly 20 years service to my country. I've seen idiots like this for a long, long time. And for a time... suffered them gladly. Times change. People change. You reach a point where you get fed up of losers. They're FOS. A FEW leaders are out there. But by-and-large...you see the same opportunists, causing trouble, going off script, and fucking up the message for everyone. Ditch 'em. They're bad news.
@danmcdonald22 I love it. It's all very predictable, and quite simple to understand, you know...

-Cops fuck with hippies;

When the unions get involved, I'll pay attention. I don't pay attention to kids with tattoos, piercings, and dyed hair. They don't represent me, as a working man. Fuck 'em. Let 'em get a baton in the skull for all I care.
@patientzero532 Are you trying to say that working men can't have tattoos, piercings, and dyed hair? Pharmacists, laborers, plumbers, woodworkers, engineers, electricians, IT, computer scientists, and farmers come in all different shapes and sizes.
Your willingness to ignore them because they don't LOOK like you is a blatant sign of your ignorance. I'm a working man too, and I pay my bills on time and pay my taxes. I'm not invalidated because I'm capable of free expression.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@drharlequin I've been on the line with the union, son. Did it long before you thought this was trendy. Nearly two decades in the infantry. I don't need scumbags who don't work, and who don't WANT to work, to represent me, because it's a transparent excuse to fuck with cops. Hippies are baton-fodder as far as I'm concerned. When real working men get out there, I'll be with them. Hippie bravery = excuse to fuck with cops, and do something other than work.
@patientzero532 Your an ignorant small minded piece of garbage. People like you are why our country is in the situation it is in right now. These people at the protest are from all walks of life. There are military men and women at this protest, dozens of unions involved, old and young, unemployed and employed. You Dont deserve to be represented by these brave men and women.
No one went there to "fuck with cops" they went there to exercise their rights as Americans
@WindleClassic Oh, fucking bullshit. Sure there are mature, reasonable, working adults at the protest. But who are the ones mixing it up with the cops? All I see is dyed hair, and torn plaid shirts. Punks who don't even work yet. 18 year old kids, with pierced noses. Ain't no soccer moms beating on NY's finest! Just young radicals.
@patientzero532 Don't downplay an 18 year old citizen, they join the military police force, public services by the thousands every year to protect. What do we say to their sacrafices hey thanks for joining the military and putting your life on the line but your not mature enough to drink. Guess what we are the future and we will be taking care of those "soccer moms" when they get older so please give us "kids" a little more respect
@madmonty101 18 year old kids who join the military have a completely different mindset. I used to be one. And you're right: They're leaders, and selfless servants of the people. The responsibility a young Corporal has at the age of 20, is often more than ANY of his peers can ever hope to acquire by that age.
Those heroes are not the creeps I have been referring to.
You REALLY don't understand who I'm talking about..? Hint: The same ones who spat on you when you came home from Vietnam.
@patientzero532 First and foremost just because someone does not look like you does not mean that they are somehow incapable of working...do you think the entire american workforce is white men wearing polo's and driving SUV's? If there are idiots out there just to stir the pot and start shit (i dont doubt that there are as you have to deal with these types of people at any large gathering) Than you need to understand that those people do not represent anyone in the group but themselves.
@WindleClassic EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING. THANK YOU. You NAILED it exactly. They don't represent ME, and by the tone of your comments, the don't appear to represent you, either.
The radicals, and anarchists, and champagne socialists represent no one but themselves. They don't care about your agenda. They have their own. Everybody gets this, yet you are the first brave soul to admit it.
@patientzero532 .....no no no no you absolutely missed the point of what i've been saying. This entire time you've been judging the entire group of, what is it now 20,000 people, at occupy Wallstreet and generalizing these people because of the alleged actions of very few of them. You've generalized all of them because of how they look. What you are doing now is trying to backtrack and twist my words.
@patientzero532 I really dont think you have any idea at all what this movement is about. If you have no idea whats going on than i really dont think you have any right to speak on the matter. There is undoubtedly some people (most likely a very small amount) of people who are going to these protests just to stir shit. Those people do not represent or speak for the other 99% of the people there. The way some of these cops have been behaving is absolutely deplorable and there is no excuse for it.
@patientzero532 Do you honestly think that 20,000 people are in NY right now for no other reason than just to fuck with the cops? Can you really be that dismissive? Do you follow the news at all? There are already several unions involved. What color is the sky on the planet you live on? I'm sorry to reply to so many of your comments and flood your inbox but your comments make no sense to me i'm both baffled and intrigued...Do you have velcro straps on your shoes?
@WindleClassic 20,000 people aren't fucking with the cops. Only the assholes are. Do you not read people's comments? Do you REALLY not understand what I'm getting at, or are you an asshole who's just fucking with me because you're a troll, and you like it? The sky is blue where I live. Why? What color was it the last time you dropped acid? You're baffled, and intrigued at what, human language? I guess anything is nonsensical when you're fucked up. Anything else?
@patientzero532 Yeah I have been reading your comments and your been doing a lot of back pedaling. You pretty much called all of the protestors hippies and said that the only reason they went down there was to fuck with cops. You also seemed delighted by the idea of them being "Baton Fodder". You said you would never support these protests until unions became involved. What you did was generalize a huge group of people and make wild accusations that you have no proof to back up.
@WindleClassic Yep. You've pretty much got it right. Watching you hippies trying to get your shit together, is like watching a pack of dogs trying to hump a fucking beach ball. Hilarious.
The ONE notorious point about the protests was that NOBODY was on the same page. It was a fractured, disorganized event, with different groups, and different agendas.
NOW, with the unions in there, we're starting to see something evolve.
@Richco07 No this is not RIOTING. The people are peaceful. A riot is of the people. This is the police abusing their power. If a riot would of happened, the police would of been completely over ran in a matter of seconds. This is what they want, so that they can call the Reserves and escalate this peaceful protest into something that it is not. I admire OWS strength, restraint, and resolve.
cops always shit on the people untill there union needs help. what happens when the govt. runs out of money and starts making cuts to the police of nyc.
Also to collapse some of the nightsticks you need to use force on the ground which is the easier way to get them to fit into their holster (the spring loaded ones). Was the officer banging his stick on the ground or was he collapsing the compact size one?
now this is some serious crowd already. Where the FUCK is CNN, FoxNews, MSNBC and others? this isn't any "picnic by about a hundred hippies" like Fox puts it!
@zwows FoxNews has been covering it but has been condemning it as the young people protesting Obama's economic policies. That's all they've said. Nothing about how they're protesting corporate money in politics or the economic policies which led to the economic collapse.
When the video cuts in, all I see is a line of cops, with a huge group of protesters advancing on them. This is a horrible video. Show the entire fucking event, or don't show it at all.
@GrimLP I have to agree. I do not agree with abuse of power, but without seeing the full events of the video. If I was ever on a jury, I would be obligated to go with the lack of full information and actually find the police in this video to be at no fault. I have a reasonable doubt and the lack of evidence to support why they did or did not use force adds in extra emphasis. Please post the ENTIRE video from start to finish and you may get more support from me, but cutting doesn't work 4 me.
@Cropduster777 oh please, this is people acting like animals under the guise of political activism. This "protest" doesn't even have a clear goal or platform. You hate that the economy sucks? So does everyone else. You know what sitting on the street all day complaining and begging for change makes you? A bum.
@ethant87 The portest does have a clear gaol and platform, but it's too broad to fit on a bumpersticker or easily explain in a media soundbite. The protest is an anti-consumerist anti-plutocracy protest. It's in pretest of the government, and the bankers, and the continued coddling support of the bankers from the government. It's in protest of how the country is run by and large for the elite by the elite.
@Cropduster777 actually, i'm pretty sure the protesters pushed up against the barricade, thereby "breaching" the boundary line... what do you expect the police to do, they're under tremendous pressure... the responsibility falls on them...
@ALPINESWATCHES The first amendment rights to free assembly and redress of greviences takes philosophical precedence over an ordinance regarding blocking the street. That' my opinion at least. And frankly that the opinion of a lot of people. The bottom line is that if the police were not aggressive then the protesters wouldn't feel threatened and aggress back. The point is that the police start these fights when they try to stop the people from protesting/marching.
cop: ur under arrest sir

This comment has received too many negative votes show
@drharlequin I've been on the line with the union, son.

@patientzero532 Your hate betrays your ignorance. I'll still stand with you. TOGETHER, we are the 99%.
REAListicoptim1ST 5 months ago
@patientzero532 Your an ignorant small minded piece of garbage. People like you are why our country is in the situation it is in right now. These people at the protest are from all walks of life. There are military men and women at this protest, dozens of unions involved, old and young, unemployed and employed. You Dont deserve to be represented by these brave men and women.
No one went there to "fuck with cops" they went there to exercise their rights as Americans
WindleClassic 5 months ago
@WindleClassic Oh, fucking bullshit. Sure there are mature, reasonable, working adults at the protest. But who are the ones mixing it up with the cops? All I see is dyed hair, and torn plaid shirts. Punks who don't even work yet. 18 year old kids, with pierced noses. Ain't no soccer moms beating on NY's finest! Just young radicals.
patientzero532 5 months ago
@patientzero532 Don't downplay an 18 year old citizen, they join the military police force, public services by the thousands every year to protect. What do we say to their sacrafices hey thanks for joining the military and putting your life on the line but your not mature enough to drink. Guess what we are the future and we will be taking care of those "soccer moms" when they get older so please give us "kids" a little more respect
madmonty101 5 months ago
@madmonty101 18 year old kids who join the military have a completely different mindset. I used to be one. And you're right: They're leaders, and selfless servants of the people. The responsibility a young Corporal has at the age of 20, is often more than ANY of his peers can ever hope to acquire by that age.
Those heroes are not the creeps I have been referring to.
You REALLY don't understand who I'm talking about..? Hint: The same ones who spat on you when you came home from Vietnam.
patientzero532 5 months ago
@patientzero532 First and foremost just because someone does not look like you does not mean that they are somehow incapable of working...do you think the entire american workforce is white men wearing polo's and driving SUV's? If there are idiots out there just to stir the pot and start shit (i dont doubt that there are as you have to deal with these types of people at any large gathering) Than you need to understand that those people do not represent anyone in the group but themselves.
WindleClassic 5 months ago
@WindleClassic EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING. THANK YOU. You NAILED it exactly. They don't represent ME, and by the tone of your comments, the don't appear to represent you, either.
The radicals, and anarchists, and champagne socialists represent no one but themselves. They don't care about your agenda. They have their own. Everybody gets this, yet you are the first brave soul to admit it.
patientzero532 5 months ago
@patientzero532 .....no no no no you absolutely missed the point of what i've been saying. This entire time you've been judging the entire group of, what is it now 20,000 people, at occupy Wallstreet and generalizing these people because of the alleged actions of very few of them. You've generalized all of them because of how they look. What you are doing now is trying to backtrack and twist my words.
WindleClassic 5 months ago
@patientzero532 I really dont think you have any idea at all what this movement is about. If you have no idea whats going on than i really dont think you have any right to speak on the matter. There is undoubtedly some people (most likely a very small amount) of people who are going to these protests just to stir shit. Those people do not represent or speak for the other 99% of the people there. The way some of these cops have been behaving is absolutely deplorable and there is no excuse for it.
WindleClassic 5 months ago
@patientzero532 Do you honestly think that 20,000 people are in NY right now for no other reason than just to fuck with the cops? Can you really be that dismissive? Do you follow the news at all? There are already several unions involved. What color is the sky on the planet you live on? I'm sorry to reply to so many of your comments and flood your inbox but your comments make no sense to me i'm both baffled and intrigued...Do you have velcro straps on your shoes?
WindleClassic 5 months ago
@WindleClassic 20,000 people aren't fucking with the cops. Only the assholes are. Do you not read people's comments? Do you REALLY not understand what I'm getting at, or are you an asshole who's just fucking with me because you're a troll, and you like it? The sky is blue where I live. Why? What color was it the last time you dropped acid? You're baffled, and intrigued at what, human language? I guess anything is nonsensical when you're fucked up. Anything else?
patientzero532 5 months ago
@patientzero532 Yeah I have been reading your comments and your been doing a lot of back pedaling. You pretty much called all of the protestors hippies and said that the only reason they went down there was to fuck with cops. You also seemed delighted by the idea of them being "Baton Fodder". You said you would never support these protests until unions became involved. What you did was generalize a huge group of people and make wild accusations that you have no proof to back up.
WindleClassic 5 months ago
@WindleClassic Yep. You've pretty much got it right. Watching you hippies trying to get your shit together, is like watching a pack of dogs trying to hump a fucking beach ball. Hilarious.
The ONE notorious point about the protests was that NOBODY was on the same page. It was a fractured, disorganized event, with different groups, and different agendas.
NOW, with the unions in there, we're starting to see something evolve.
No proof? Just look at the vids.

Also to collapse some of the nightsticks you need to use force on the ground which is the easier way to get them to fit into their holster (the spring loaded ones). Was the officer banging his stick on the ground or was he collapsing the compact size one?

zwows 5 months ago
@zwows FoxNews has been covering it but has been condemning it as the young people protesting Obama's economic policies. That's all they've said. Nothing about how they're protesting corporate money in politics or the economic policies which led to the economic collapse.

When the video cuts in, all I see is a line of cops, with a huge group of protesters advancing on them. This is a horrible video. Show the entire fucking event, or don't show it at all.
GrimLP 5 months ago 2
@GrimLP I have to agree. I do not agree with abuse of power, but without seeing the full events of the video. If I was ever on a jury, I would be obligated to go with the lack of full information and actually find the police in this video to be at no fault. I have a reasonable doubt and the lack of evidence to support why they did or did not use force adds in extra emphasis. Please post the ENTIRE video from start to finish and you may get more support from me, but cutting doesn't work 4 me.

@Richco07 This isn't a riot. This is just the NYPD beating people up for expressing themselves under the guise of "blocking the street"
Cropduster777 5 months ago 19
@Cropduster777 oh please, this is people acting like animals under the guise of political activism. This "protest" doesn't even have a clear goal or platform. You hate that the economy sucks? So does everyone else. You know what sitting on the street all day complaining and begging for change makes you? A bum.
ethant87 5 months ago
@ethant87 You know what sitting on your ass when you know something's up makes you? An idiot.
CrazyEddi3 5 months ago
@ethant87 The portest does have a clear gaol and platform, but it's too broad to fit on a bumpersticker or easily explain in a media soundbite. The protest is an anti-consumerist anti-plutocracy protest. It's in pretest of the government, and the bankers, and the continued coddling support of the bankers from the government. It's in protest of how the country is run by and large for the elite by the elite.
Cropduster777 5 months ago
@Cropduster777 actually, i'm pretty sure the protesters pushed up against the barricade, thereby "breaching" the boundary line... what do you expect the police to do, they're under tremendous pressure... the responsibility falls on them...
ALPINESWATCHES 5 months ago
@ALPINESWATCHES The first amendment rights to free assembly and redress of greviences takes philosophical precedence over an ordinance regarding blocking the street. That' my opinion at least. And frankly that the opinion of a lot of people. The bottom line is that if the police were not aggressive then the protesters wouldn't feel threatened and aggress back. The point is that the police start these fights when they try to stop the people from protesting/marching.
