haaa! I came here looking for a very really popular and mainstream song...that basically I think it says: just do it tonight...do it tonight...or some crap like that. her name came up, and this may sound absurd but her name sounds like those european techno djs, so i thought this would be the song.gladly I was wrong. she sounds good, sooo my type.
Ohhh..ok! I finally figured out who Sharon reminds me of after listening to 15 different songs of hers! After i listened to this one twice, I got it---Aimee Mann!! Yessss---sooo very similar in her tone and vibration vocally! I've always like A. M.'s music so it's great to hear Sharon's too---both sultry, relaxing, deep water vocals~~great art by both ladies.:)
@islandsq Did not think of Aimee till you mentioned, now I hear it. Others have said a talented Lara Del Rey. I can hear both; either or, this is good stuff. Good ear you have there.
So powerful, still gives me chills after 20+ listens. To me an uplifting track. Added as no 2 on my top 100 songs of 2010, over at my blog moviesandsongs365
She talked about this song's meaning in a recent interview:
"It is about suicide, it is about addiction. It's about people— Sorry, I'm still learning how to talk about it. When I first wrote it, it was more about specifically seeing somebody that— It initially started as me starting to see somebody—we didn't hang out very much—and trying to be cool about it, just being really simple and not seeing each other very much."
Based on an interview, and listening to the lyrics, I think this song is about resolving internal conflict through music.
I was somewhere inside
And I wanted to find out why you hurt
And I was terrified
Dangerously close to the edge of a self-destructive act (maybe even suicide), Sharon chooses to release intense emotional feelings through her God given ability to write & sing beautiful songs.
She is probably a Gemini, like me. Carrying on a self-dialogue is not in the least unusual for us.
@shermanicus i had figured it was about drinking or drugs. for me i feel like drinking but that's just b/c of my own life experiences. but i think this song could be about whatever we want it to be, as the listener. p.s. i like that you call it suiciding like it's a game or something. but it sounds much less severe.
Saw her live in atl, thought she was great. went primarily to see Junip, was kind of dreading having to wait through SVE, but was incredibly surprised. she is now in heavy rotation...
I saw her live and she was awful. I heard this track and I know this track is pure beauty...I hope I see her again live; after hearing this I want to see her perform again.

I was just leisurely browsing youtube and trying out some of her songs, and this caught me completely off guard. It stopped me cold from the start.
