My God!, American shows really overreact to the F-word. I bet if he shot somebody on air there would be no problem. To be honest we are all adults who watch the show and should not have a problem with strong language, especially when it is used to emphasise a point in a story.

I don't know if it is a culture thing but after 9pm on British TV you can show and say pretty much whatever you like, as it is assumed you are an adult.
