  • You seem like a good teacher, thanks for the video

  • yeh!! im learin

  • Thank you so much! You are a life saver.....or at least a math grade saver!!!

  • why do i go to class when i have youtube?

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH. I forgot to combine like terms for the last problem as I was doing it. Thankyou for posting!!❤

  • In the parentheses my teacher says if u pee on 1 u pee on the other

  • anybody know what is 4(t - 8) + 20 = 52???

  • @101melodyroseheart Start by distributing that 4 through to get rid of the parenthesis. 4t - 32 + 20 = 52 Combine like terms. 4t - 12 = 52 Then add 12 to both sides to get rid of the minus 12. 4t - 12 + 12 = 52 + 12 4t = 64 Finally, divide by 4 on both sides to get the t by itself. 4t/4 = 64/4 t = 16 I hope that helps! Keep working hard on your math! :-)
  • @mbrandl11 Thx alot!! ^_^

  • man,this is easy.....how could i ever needed help with this,,,,

  • Dis mess iz hard for 7th graders

  • how am i using this in real life !!! -________-

  • @mrsalana1103

    Check out the word problems in your book. Also, it's a building block toward more complex equations that you might use for real-world problems. :-)

  • thank you for making these videos

  • my teacher doesnt teach us.. he just makes us take note, and he expects us to know how to do it. im only in 8th grade and he freaked out on my today because i didnt do my homework because he didnt teach us how to do it. its bull crap

  • Love your video, i learned how to solve now a Multi Step Equation by following the rule like you did and got the correct answers. Thanks

  • i am tireddddddddddddddddddddddddd

  • thank you this helped a lot!! :-D I have a test tomorrow. I was a little confused on the last problem you did but the rest I had no problem understanding it

  • What grade do you teach? I'm a freshmen this year and my teacher is failing me because she wouldnt let me finish a couple problems on a quiz. Now I have to watch videos about math and I have a test tomorrow.

  • @MurdatasticJR

    I teach high school math. The videos I've been making most recently are for Algebra 2. If you work hard, I know you can pass. Seeking out help through videos such as these is a good idea! You can do it!

  • @mbrandl11 Thank you for the support it helps a lot! I have one question though. My dad switched me to Algebra Concepts and Skills some kids are saying that some colleges dont accept people who took Concepts and Skills? I dont know if you would know but its worth a try.

  • @MurdatasticJR

    I'm not 100% sure on all the college requirements. That sounds like a good question for your school counselor. They should be able to track down what the colleges that you might be interested in require.

  • 6+2+3x=23+2x? HELP

  • @Pinnystevens16

    Start by combining like terms to get:

    8 + 3x = 23 + 2x

    Then subtract 2x on both sides to get the variables all together.

    8 + 3x - 2x = 23 + 2x - 2x

    8 + x = 23

    Finally, subtract 8 from both sides to get the x by itself.

    8 - 8 + x = 23 - 8

    x = 15

    I hope that helps! Keep working at it! You can do anything you put your mind to! :-)

  • Wait nvm

  • Im having trouble with 2(n-7)+3=9 can u plz help me???

  • @Boonka1105 Take the 2 and distribute it between n and -7 you would get 2n-14+3=9 then just add 14 to 9 and subtract 3 to -4 (what you got for bringing over the -14 to 9)

  • 2b-6+36=14 I'm having trouble with this.

  • @RollinRiver1

    Start by combining like terms on the left.

    2b + 30 = 14

    Then get rid of the + 30 by doing the opposite -30 on both sides.

    2b + 30 - 30 = 14 - 30

    2b = -16

    Finally, divide by 2 on both sides to get the b by itself and get our answer.

    2b/2 = -16/2

    b = -8

    I hope that helps! :-)

  • 1/2(8-6h)=h  ????

  • @Rainslug1126

    Start by distributing the 1/2 through the get rid of the parenthesis.

    4 - 3h = h

    Then get all the variables on the same side.

    4 - 3h + 3h = h + 3h

    4 = 4h

    Finally, divide by 4 on both sides in order to get the h by itself.

    4/4 = 4h/4

    1 = h

    I hope that helps! Keep seeking out explanations and answers when you have questions! :-)

  • 2c-5=c+4 ?????

  • @xxpaulix7

    First get all the variables on the same side.

    2c - c - 5 = c - c + 4

    c - 5 = 4

    Then add five to both sides to get the c by itself.

    c - 5 + 5 = 4 + 5

    c = 9

    I hope that helps! Never hesitate to ask if you have questions! :-)

  • holy crap dude thank you.i shall pass my test tomorrow now

  • Dis did help meh but im confused of how to solve 2(n-7)+3=9

  • @BLG1120andCMC We'll start by distributing the two through on the left to get rid of the parenthesis. 2(n - 7) + 3 = 9 2n - 14 + 3 = 9 Then we can combine like terms. 2n - 11 = 9 Next, we'll add eleven to both sides to get rid of the minus eleven. 2n - 11 + 11 = 9 + 11 2n = 20 Finally, we divide by 2 on both sides to cancel out the multiplication. 2n/2 = 20/2 n = 10 I hope that helps!
  • kind of weird how most of the comments r thank you, but i do understand y

  • dis is actually more like a review than learning it, but it did help me to do my homework, thanks

  • help. 2(4m-7)+m=76

  • @elliotrulzblack We'll start by distributing the 2 through on the left side to get: 8m - 14 + m = 76 Then we combine like terms: 9m - 14 = 76 Now we want to get the m by itself, first we'll get rid of the - 14 by doing the opposite, adding 14 on both sides: 9m - 14 + 14 = 76 + 14 9m = 90 Finally, we divide by 9 on both sides: 9m/9 = 90/9 m = 10 I hope that helps! Keep working hard and seeking out answers when you have questions! :-)
  • thank you so much this really helped me on my homework..i really got help today :)

  • Thank you this will help me with the asvab

  • Thanks dude! I got a test tomorrow too!!

  • Thanks buddy! I got a test tomorrow and you saved my life!

  • i like your video and i have this problem. -4{2n-5}=75 i tried 2 do the steps but it was a little confusing can u help

  • @ninjajump628 Start by distributing to get rid of the parenthesis. -8n + 20 = 75 Then subtract 20 from both sides to get rid of the plus 20. -8n + 20 - 20 = 75 - 20 -8n = 55 Finally, divide by -8 on both sides to get the n by itself. -8n/-8 = 55/-8 n = -6.875 We could also leave it as an improper fraction: -55/8 or convert it to a mixed number: -6 7/8. I hope that helps! :-)
  • Thank you so much for saving my life...

  • this is excellent im gonna pass my test i hope O.o well thx this is really helpful just havin some trouble with the distributive property

  • 2a/3 + a-4/5 = 1/2 Can you please answer that question for me and show your work i have a test tmmrw @mbranl11

  • @BaburAli1 Let's start by multiplying everything through by 30, this will get rid of all the fractions so we can work with integers. 30(2a/3 + a - 4/5) = 30(1/2) 20a + 30a - 24 = 15 Combine like terms 50a - 24 = 15 Add 24 to both sides as we work to get the a by itself. 50a - 24 + 24 = 15 + 24 50a = 39 Finally, divide by 50 on both sides. Since we started with fractions, we'll leave our answer as a fraction. 50a/50 = 39/50 a = 39/50 I hope that helps! Good luck on the test!
  • 2a/3 + a-4/5 = 1/2 Can you please answer that question for me and show your work i have a test tmmrw

  • help

     -25t+21t-7t

  • @scooterbri1

    I'm assuming you're asked to simplify the expression?

    We'll start by combining the -25t and 21t to get -4t

    Then we have -4t - 7t which would combine to be -11t

    I hope that helps! :-)

  • omgg help

    -20=-4x-6x

  • @MsTank2011

    Start by combining like terms.

    -20 = -4x - 6x

    -20 = -10x

    Then divide by -10 on both sides to get the x by itself.

    -20/-10 = -10x/-10

    2 = x

    I hope that helps! :-)

  • thank you.. i was sick and didnt get it and you helped me in less than 6 minutes

  • can you explain this PLEASE!!!

    g/6+12 =24

  • @LegendryKnight

    We'll start by getting rid of the plus 12 by doing the opposite, minus 12, from both sides.

    g/6 + 12 - 12 = 24 - 12

    g/6 = 12

    Then we'll do the opposite of the division by 6, which would be multiplying by 6, on both sides to get the g by itself.

    6(g/6) = 12(6)

    g = 72

    I hope that helps! :-)

  • yes i soo get it now!! my 8th grade math teacher is so boring he has all of these unnessacery steps and rules.thx mbrandl11

  • i love u @mbrandl11 you totally helped me with my homework. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! : )

  • I need help !!!! 4m-4=m ??? Im very confused . Please help !

  • @kdjeff01

    First, get all the variables on one side. I'll subtract 4m from both sides and simplify.

    4m - 4m - 4 = m - 4m

    -4 = -3m

    Then divide by -3 to get the m by itself.

    -4/-3 = -3m/-3

    4/3 = m

    That could be our answer, or as a mixed number we'd have 1 1/3.

    I hope that helps!

  • mine just goes through it fast. mostly to cover the whole material. my teacher before that didnt go to the next unit until everybody understood one thing which took forever so i barely understand anything now

  • This is helpful! thank you!

  • do u know

    8y-(8+6y)=20

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

  • @superherosrocktiger1 First, we need to distribute the negative through to get rid of the parenthesis. 8y - 8 - 6y = 20 Then combine like terms. 2y - 8 = 20 Add eight to both sides to get rid of the -8. 2y - 8 + 8 = 20 + 8 2y = 28 Finally, divide by 2 on both sides to get the y by itself. 2y/2 = 28/2 y = 14 I hope that helps! :-)
  • @mbrandl11 thanx a lot, that really helped!

  • its ridiculous that we all have to go to the internet for help. Teachers need to be much more concentrated on each student and not so hung up on "the class average" like mine does..

  • @TheAlphadogg1 For real.

  • thanks

  • Thank You

  • great help thanks got my skills back!

  • omg i got an F in math. :'(

  • @mileyfan967

    I hope some of these videos can help you to improve your grade! Don't give up!

  • @mbrandl11 do u know?

    4 - 7(3 x - 1) = x + 10

  • @mileyfan967 Start by using the distributive property to get rid of the parentheses. 4 - 21x + 7 = x + 10 Combine like terms -21x + 11 = x + 10 Get all the variables together -21x + 21x + 11 = x + 21x + 10 11 = 22x + 10 Subtract ten from both sides 11 - 10 = 22x + 10 - 10 1 = 22x Finally, divide by 22 to get the x by itself. 1/22 = 22x/22 1/22 = x I hope that helps!
  • @mileyfan967 nvm now. lol.(:

  • @mileyfan967 a test or the whole class??

  • @ipodhelpcentral

    I'm sorry you feel that way. If you're wondering where it could be used in real life, check out some of the word problems in your book. Keep working at it. You can do it! :-)

  • @mbrandl11 Im sorry i aid that,i was just extremmely stressed :)

  • @ipodhelpcentral

    It's alright.  I hope you're less stressed now! :-)

  • What do you do in this situation: 6=6-2n

  • @cameronbrandon1234

    We want to get the n by itself, so we'll subtract six from both sides.

    6 - 6 = 6 - 6 - 2n

    Simplfy and we end up with:

    0 = -2n

    Then divide by -2 on both sides to get:

    0/-2 = -2n/-2

    0 = n

    Sometimes a problem can look a little scary, but stick with what you know and it'll usually work out.

    I hope that helps!  :-)

  • @mbrandl11 Thank you very much :p I wasnt sure if the answer could be zero! :P

  • do you first look at if it has paranthesis then its combine like terms

  • @pinki2101

    Right, generally we want to get rid of any parenthesis using the distributive property and then combine any like terms and go from there.

  • THANKS A LOT!!!

    Man you're the best I understand everything with u , my teacher is an excellent teacher almost like u haha , but the problem is that my native language is not English and some times i get confused ever thought I'm really good at Algebra in Spanish Thanks (:

  • this really helped me. im starting 7th grade and this is what i need to know! thanks.

  • Oh why thank you! But I believe it's a bit too late now :/! Youre great at explaining though. Thanks!

  • thanks man i really needed the extra help for my math test

  • I ABSOLUTLEY HATE INTEGERS! MAKES EVERYTHING HARDERR.... :P I NEED SOME HELP:(

  • @iElmaful

    What about integers is giving you trouble? I have some other videos that deal with integers. Perhaps those might be helpful?

  • thanks!!

  • now why can't teachers explain it like this. they want us to suffer.

  • @Henrym3089

    Hey now! I'm a teacher! :-)

  • thnx

  • my teacher is lame you rock

  • This is good it really helps people thank you

  • thnk man

  • thank youu, i was sick yesterday and this was our homework.. i was confused & we were also doing "Multi-Step Equations with fractions and decimals" i have an A+ in pre-algebra but I still don't want my grade to drop..

  • so great, thanks

  • thank you so much i think i can past my test now

  • oh thanks dude u just saved my ass

  • thanks man now i have a D+ in algebra

  • thanks you sooo much :D

  • thanx so much keep up the videos

  • Thanks dude.

  • Thank you soo much!! I understand it better now! :)

  • thanks you saved me at least an hour or two of confusion i became really brain dead over the summer Thanks again

  • you are making studying for a test very relaxing. appreciate it

  • gaaah! thanks! i understand it better now!!

  • gaaah! thanks! i understand it better now!!

  • I get how you do that but one of my equation is

    -12=3-2k-3k

  • In your equation, we need to combine like terms first and then solve.

    -12 = 3 - 2k - 3k

    -12 = 3 - 5k

    Subtract three from both sides and simplify

    -12 - 3 = 3 - 3 - 5k

    -15 = -5k

    Then you can finish it up from there.

    I hope that helps! :-)

  • So, how exactly would I do a problem like this?:

    (4x + 2) - (12x + 8) +2 (5x - 3) = 6 + 11

    I don't exactly understand how to do this. It's straight from my math book.

  • You'll want to start by distributing to get rid of the parenthesis. Then combine like terms. You'll end up with a much simpler problem that I think you can handle. :-)

  • That's the problem, what exactly am I distrubuting in that problem? I don't understand it :(.

  • You'll want to distribute the - or a -1 through (12x + 8) and 2 through (5x - 3)

    After you distribute this is what you'd have:

    4x + 2 - 12x - 8 + 10x - 6 = 6 + 11

    Combine like terms and continue from there.

  • First, distribute - to 12 x and 8 and 2 to 5x and -3

    4x + 2 - 12x - 8 + 10x - 6 = 17

    combine like terms(with x's and numbers on the left)

    4x -12x + 10x + 2 - 8 - 6 = 17

    2x - 12 = 17

    then add both side by 12

    2x - 12 + 12 = 17 + 12

    2x = 19

    divide by 2

    so your answer will be x = 19/2 or 9.5...i hope this answer your question.

  • this video helped mee soooo much thanxx:]]

  • thanks man i had to go to summer school for not understanding this stuff lol

    you helped me alot. thankyou

  • how do you solve this (-3X) + 40 = 38

  • First we subtract 40 from both sides and simplify:

    -3x + 40 - 40 = 38 - 40

    -3x = -2

    Then divide by -3 on both sides and simplify:

    -3x/-3 = -2/-3

    x = 2/3

  • u r awsome thnx

  • You are my hero. i have been sitting here having a mental break down because I cannot understand any of this!

    you just calmed my brain down.

  • TY All I need to learn for my GED is math. This helped.

  • Thank you. Either you are, or should be a teacher.

  • your a big help =]

    thanks alot.

  • or you could just do 6x-3x with equals 3x and take 27 divided by 3x which = 9

  • 27 would be divided by just 3. We want to leave the x so we get it by itself. :-)

  • my math teacher is really retarded and sux at explaining. but atleast there is always nice guys on youtube that can help me =) thx for all the help!

  • I doubt your math teacher is any of those things. Sometimes just a different person with a slightly different explanation is all that's needed to help one to understand. There are probably students of mine who think the same thing about me!

    I'm glad I could help! :-)

  • i listen to u more than i listen to my algebra teacher,thx it helped alot

  • For the last equation x = 17, not 18

  • Remember, you can always put your answer back into the problem to check it...

    16 = 2(x - 1) - x

    16 = 2(18 - 1) - 18

    16 = 2(17) - 18

    16 = 34 - 18

    16 = 16

    So x does indeed equal 18. :-)

    Thanks for getting me to check it!

  • thanks a billion!

  • thnks for the help!

  • thanks for the help
