Ok, you must be one of the educated ones. I have seen my Asian friends get addressed as chinos (Chinese) by hispanics. It didn't matter if they were Thai, Koreans, Japanese or Viet, so I told them it's alright to call them back as chico (boy) or chiquito (little boy). But don't go overboard and use chiquitito, though. We get a few embarrassed and startled faces, especially when they're with their girlfriends (priceless). Respect.
