in the beginning kohiruimaki had more skill but masato had that toughness and desire and liked to punch. once he honed his boxing and added a decent low kick he was ready to become champion. kohiruimaki could never really change his style until recently he has started boxing, but its too late.

Kohi won the Japan Max Tournament. Which decides which Japanese fighter will get a spot for the Final 16 in April. Of course thgere will be the champs in that Final 16. Don't know which one of them tho.

kohi definitely could have become a better fighter than what he is today. but somehow his upperbody strength and footwork held him back while other young fighters developed really fast. part of reason was cuz of his one dimensional training which was mostly concentrated on low kicks. he could have become something big of masato if he developed in a right way. wasted talent. that's what i call him.

I think Kohi has some mental problems. If you ever seen the scar on his arm, that's from intentionally burning himself.

Kohi also has trouble keeping it cool when he's losing. But in his last few fights, he showed a lot of heart and sportsmanship.

I didn't meet him at an event. I met him walking down the street in Roppongi. He was wearing this furlined hood (In late march) and had these huge aviators like he was trying to hide. I just walked up to him and was like "Excuse me, are you a K-1 fighter?" and he admitted. Got my pic and my one drunk friend (girl) kissed him on the cheek.

It was a good night.

Eh, I still think Masato has the potential the beat Buakaw. Remember, their first encounter came in the finals of the 04 tourney; Masato just had a brutal war with Krauss (both eyes were practically welled shut), while Buakaw simply used Kohi's legs as a warm-up for 2 rounds. While money would be on the Thai, a rematch would be much, much more competitive than the original fight would suggest, especially if Buakaw sticks with his current style.
