In addition, she was (and is) still rapidly improving. Compare this performance (2009), for example, with that of her 2010 "Big Waaaaave" Budokan live (search youtube with "Lion - May'n Ver - (LIVE) May'n"), where she was on a different level not only in her voice but also in her expressiveness.

@ryofurue I completely agree with you. Both May'n and Megumi improved a lot since the first Macross F concert. Their voices just sound so much better now, and they are more relaxed on stage while performing. After watching Big Waaave you realize how much potencial this girl has.

Well, technically the voice actor for Sheryl is someone else. They used May'n for the singing voice but Aya Endo was the voice actor for normal dialects.

But I did feel the same way when I first heard the singing, although the live version makes me think that she does sound different now.

Also, visuals are a large part of conveying urgency to most people, and atop that as well, this version is live, it's a few BPM slower (with breaks) so she doesn't mess up, not really noticeable unless you put it into a editor tho :P

Lives have their downsides but May'n is still a great singer.

The "OP" Version that also appears with Nakajima in it is a secondary version to this song; May'n's Lion is the original and the song is credited and copyrighted to her.

The other versions were adapted in Macross.

The OP version was aired first in the Macross series I believe (Ep 18 intro) but the full and proper version which was made by Mei Nakabayashi is the original.

The reason you feel this video loses a little bit is because (as with most lives) the music vs singing isn't quite balanced...
