Why are they promoting the fact that it's in America, especially since Los Angeles hosted just eight years before and Salt Lake City would host the Winter Games merely six years later? If anything we have gotten the games far too often compared to other countries. Not to mention our overall dominance of them. I know NBC is an American station, but promote the Olympics for what they are: an international event. They are not just for us, like the NFL. They're for everybody.
You could have at the very least done a very small bit of research and acknowledged Leo Arnaud and his composition "Bugler's Dream" used by ABC Sports.

I watched the Atlanta Games every week. I actually missed it when it went off. When this song came on, I got excited.

I agree. Michael Johnson made the 1996 olympics what they were. And everytime I hear this theme song it reminds me of Michael Johnson.
