@quiglearo No, that's a Crate 3112 V series all tube amp. 4 12AX7 preamp tubes and 4 EL84 tubes. It's 30 watt A class, puts out close to 100 watt power at the speaker which is a Tone Tubby 12 in. I like it better than any amp I've ever had, and believe me, I've had plenty. Thanks
@quiglearo Well, my grandson does my videos and he is currently unavailable. When he gets back in town I hope to video a few more. Thanks and keep watching, Billy
@ChubbaBoastinTone766 My own fills for the most part. Of course I wouldn't be playing it at all if Chet hadn't played it first. My Guitar Hero before there ever was a game. Thanks
I do not know whether your receiving my e-mails or not, however, if you have decided not to sell me the tab of snowbird, I would appreciate just a note rather than nothing at all.
@calyudin I have a hardcopy tab of the way Chet played it. I play it a little different and I don't have a tab for the way I play it.. Send me a private email and I'll see if we can work something out. bgdenham@yahoo.com
@RudolphSteweart Thanks, I'm glad you like it. It's one of my most requested tunes. I don't know about being a great picker, just a picker of great tunes.
You are AMAZING on that thing. I was thrilled to hear Chet on a program with Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters back in the late 50s when I was just a kid. It was a small rural community with an audience of probably around 500 (high school gym). I sat on the front row, a few feet from Chet. I was amazed at his playing, and I am just as impressed with YOURS! You have a God-given talent buddy! FIVE STARS Mike
Thank you. I started playing when I was about 12. My mother took me to meet Chet in 1959 when I was 15. He ask me to play him a song. Shoot! I was shaking so bad I couldn't even spell my name. I did get to play a tune for him in 1998 at the CAAS convention. I was a lot older and my nerves had settled alot. Thanks again.
What an unforgettable and amazing experience for you! Thanks for tell me man, and I look forward to listening to more or your OUTSTANDING pickin! Mike
Terriffic technique, pal. Beautifully done. Chet is duly pleased, I'm sure. btw, whaddaya playin' there, a Country Gentleman? Tennessean? Ya got me. Wonderfully done. God bless you and yours.
Thank you. It's a Yamaha AES1500B. But, it does have Gibson CG pickups and pots. You have a good ear. It plays as good as it looks (and sounds). Thank you for the blessing, I feel like He has.
I'm still in awe! Way too many Chet clones playing this, yet NONE are playing the way Chet would have done it! Chet was full of fills. I close my eyes....and this is Chet playing. Great job my man!
I don't play it note for note like Chet, but then I really don't try to. I learn the basic tune and licks from Chet's recording, then add my own touch. Kinda makes it personal you know. Thanks, BGD
Thank you, I am proud and thankful that one day as a 12 year old I heard Chet Atkins play on the radio and I wanted to play just like him. Over 50 years later and I'm still trying to play like him.
So kool you must have a band/gig you play out with? Just a pasttime or full time? I probly never play as good as this but I love to jam along; thanks so much for giving us your time and music here.
you know how much this song has helpped me cope with the lost of someone special. holding back the tears is hard at this time, but i can manage with your songs, thgank you billy. i`ll be in touck for your c.d.s
Hey there again bgdenham! Just stopping by to listen to this fantatic song...again and again. I dropped you a note a few months back. Is your amp a Crate? I played one the other day and am weighing it against a Fender Super Sonic or Blues Deluxe. Your thoughts? Oh btw...were can I find your CD's? Play on Brother!!!
hey billy, even i just lost my mother in this world, and i know that she`s at god`s speed now. i would like to learn more about your cd`s. it`s hard that my momma is not here now, but i will always carry her dream in my heart forever.
will be looking for more of your work. mother says she loves to hear that her son is back into music. she will forever be grateful that someone can play anne murry`s snowbird that good. thank you
no, but i will be in just a few clicks! I am an avid fan of playing, but ironicly i am not very good even after 6 years collectivly, i cant even read sheet music or remember chords. i cant even ply a song all the way through... so i have pretty much trahed the idea until now- think i m gonna give it 1 more shot...
I must tell you...I just love this! I've been a player for 40 years..mainly blues (Hendrix/Stevie Ray Vaughan). I've been going back to my youth and listening to Mark Knopfler as of late, which brought me to Mr. Atkins. I always knew he was great but have certainly under estimated his talents. Which brings me to you...you sir have SERIOUS talent!!!
We are alot alike. I started playing guitar when I was 12 and bought my first Chet Atkins record when I was 14. I learned a lot of Chet's music in those early days, then I started playing commercial guitar and left Chet's music till 1990 when I had a mild heart attack. I retired and started playing the tunes I learned as a teenager. I did it to relax and now I play at a local restaurant and make a liitle money on the side. Thanks for your kind comments.
How many hours a day did you pratice to get to your level and was Chet Atkins your mentor? I truly appreciate your smoothness & ability. It took me years playing 6 hours a day & I'm curious as to your trip to be a CGP!
Well, I started playing when I was 12 years old and I'm 64 now. Chet was indeed my hero and I tried to learn everything he put out. In the beginning I played about 6 hours a day. I left fingerstyle for about 25 years while I pursued a career. I restarted my fingerstyle picking about 10 years ago and play, on the average, about 2 hours a day. Thanks for looking and your kind comments.
hey that was great your guitar is sick the pink is a little queer but its an awesome guitar i like your technique, allot of people don't finger pick much anymore
I feel extremely blessed and fortunate to be able to play at the level I do. And it's kind words like yours that make me feel very proud to be a guitar player.
I began playing at the age of 12, I am 63 now, so I've had a few years to develope my style. I was privileged to see a man in our community who played thumb and fingerstyle, I learned 99% of what I know from listening to recordings. Thanks for looking.
Will be watching, what Amp are you using? Is that a Gibson?
