  • love you billy boyd <3

  • Thats honor!

  • The steward is really stupid, he sent his best knights to retake osgiliath but it was very futile, the orcs just killed everyone without effort. But how did faramir survive?

  • This scene is so sad D: This one's pretty significant to me because I knew Billy was a singer but I never knew he sang so very well. It's where I first heard him sing and I was so touched and pulled in the scene xD

  • Thats one ugly orc at 0:27

  • I love that they can have so many beautiful songs and still have short ones like this one in the movie.

  • i cry even in 300!!! T-T

  • LOL that sounded funny xD But yeah, there were some pretty sad scenes there~

  • i love this song so much.

  • I love his voice! Such a sad scene. DX

  • I hate the Steward for ordering this massacre! But beutifull scene from Lord of the Rings.

  • Yeah, I hate him too-- he's crazy >>; It was sad though when he got burned alive and only got a glimpse of Faramir actually alive D:

  • I love this part of the movie

  • I cried so hard when I saw it in theaters. I always get teary when i see this scene.

  • i cried at this part of movie

cried for like 5 minutes ;D

  • Yeah Im pretty sure these lyrics are in the book, and Billy Boyd didnt write them. I remember reading them before the movie came out. Billy Boyd is still amazing though... and pretty adorable too!

  • Yeah, he only he did the melody/music, which is kinda cool because it's so short but it's got a very strong impact on the people who watched it 8D

  • read the lord of the rings and watched the movies. doesn't matter whan or where i am i love them to bits.

always liked pippin and the song is lovley

but i makes me cry :s

  • home is behind the world ahead and there are many paths to tread through shadow till the edge of night until the stars are all alight mist and shadow cloud and shade all shall fade all shall fade.. i love this song!!
  • Need to find a midi of this. :p Want to make a music file for LOTRO out of it.

  • beautiful. every time i hear this i almost want to cry because its so sad. its my favourite scene! but wow he is an amazing singer! i wasnt sure if it was really him or not before!

  • yeah it does hehe, x

  • he is soo good, yes he wrote it so it could describe abit of Scotland and he done it very well i think.

  • It sounds Scottish.

  • tenderly..

  • GONDOR CİTY!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG PIPPIN IS AMAZING!!!!!!

  • Did you know he wrote this song for the movie? What a talented singer.

  • No, no, Billy didn't write this song. Tolkien did. Billy just took a snippet from the whole song in the first book and made his own melody for this movie. But I agree, he is a very talented singer. He's a good songwriter too.

  • i was gonna say, i've read the books over and over too many times to remember, but i do remember a good portion of it in the books...

  • yay for Pippin!

  • fantastic !

  • I love this song! Listening to it gives me goosebumps.

  • So true!

  • i love the way Billy looks at him <3 :P

  • Billy aint really looking at him more like through that Gondorian Prick

  • i really like this song(LLL)

  • Thank you SO much for this. I wanted the visuals with the music, but his eating and chewing sounds are just so disgusting... It totally ruins the song for me. Merci!!!

  • can u download this song? it's cool

  • It's on the RotK soundtrack

  • I've heard it's on Itunes called "Steward of Gondor"

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! so much!

  • i love this song!

    and pippin <3

  • :X:X:X:X:X:X:X

  • This song is actually called 'The Edge of Night'. Not The Steward of Gondor. The songs transition right before Pipping starts to sing. It was one of the best scenes of the movie though.

  • this made me well up so bad

  • Knights are best horsmen in Middle Earth - it just they don't have 10000 like Rohirrim!

  • how many men participated in the bloody suicidal counter attack? would have been bad ass had faramir's men reached osgiliath n showed sum battle scene

  • but that is kind of the whole point of the "battle"

  • I think 300 or 500, the knights never made it in the film, in the book - I don't really rememba)))

  • This song is actually in the first book, chapter 3. However, it was Bilbo who wrote it. I got so excited when I read it, because I was like, "Pippin sings that in ROTK!" :D

  • Really! I'll have to look that up

  • thanks for sharing

  • Pippin is by far my favourite character out of The Lord of The Rings. An adorable little hobbit he is :P And out of all the characters, I think Pip (or Merry) comes the closest to myself, personality-wise.

Billy Boyd has a very nice singing voice too ^^ The song really goes well to this scene; it's incredible.

  • Faramir is one of my Favorite characters. I love this scene. Other Favorite characters are Aragorn and Prince Imrahil (the prince of Dol Amroth in the books)

  • Shit I can't believe PJ didnt include knights of Dol Amroth in the film and Imrahil if it is him looks like bloody loh in the movie...

  • What about when Faramir and the Gondor Knights go through Minas Tirith knowing its a suicidal counter-attack they go to and the streets are filled with sadness for them. The panpipe music is amazing. Thats the most touching scene and would have been just before this scene. Yet, no-ones posted it on youtube :(

    Please post it someone! :)

  • Yeah that was fkn awesome!

  • that is so gorgeous! i luv this song and its great that you took out the hoof beats and other loud noises. do you know if it has a real name so i can download the mp3?

  • ohh thatn you for giving us the non-film version! billys voice is too beautiful to put other sound effects on it!

    Thx for uploading, beautiful!

  • Dang! Billy and Domanic are both so cute. Someone should make a Merry and Pippen dedication.

  • Lame. Can't hear the horses hooves pounding on the ground. This was probably one of the most breathtaking sequences I've ever seen in a movie. It was really well done. It wasn't particularly sad, but the first time around, it really hits you.

  • so cool

  • "to iverie" he is a folisch took but not always

  • I understand, but he wasn't as mature in the first movie. It's like in the second movie, he goes through a major change.

  • GO PIPPIN!!! See, and Gandalf thought he was a fool of a Took.

  • Anyone have the mp3 link so I can download the song? By far the moment in the trilogy that was most moving for me- had me tearing up (which is incredibly rare for me). Amazing and beautiful and just beyond words.

  • i love this scene, i downloaded this song on my mp3

  • thnks so much ilove this song

  • Oh i love this scene :)

  • BADASS

  • the scene just wouldn't work without it...beautiful. I love Pipin. :)

  • This song is..., i cant discribe it! Just listning to it, makes my cry!, only 0:45 is the part i dont like (the music, u know XD)

    Just listning!

  • Love this.. so sad..

  • so sad

  • this song made me cry when i heard the first time.guys, try to listen without the sound effects

  • I always start to cry when Billy sings this song. His voise just makes me melt. And he's not that bad looking either.

  • i love this scene, it's so sad, and i love billy's voice, and he did such a good job writing the song too!

  • they made so many kick ass things in these movies. Some people make movies and let em hit the ground. But theirs a reason why lotr's raped every movie and took home all of its awards.

  • thts the saddest part in the movie

  • I agree

  • I agree, but it is also most beutiful scene of the Film (this is film with big F !!)

  • mesmerising scene, very sad one of the best

  • Lovely as always. Thank you.

  • it's really sad that the guy was the guys dad who made him go

  • that song is absolutly beautiful, its so sad, and i luv the battle scenes along with it, it gives it a certain strengh, it made me cry. Billy's voice is so beautiful and the song kinda sounds Celtic, i luv it so very much.

  • this is the most beautiful part of all three films...is so moving it makes me cry and his voice is so pure

  • That's beautiful. I always cry, when I watch this.

  • I love it!!!! it's beautiful :)

    thank you for this :)

  • i SO love this... he's so lovely :)

  • Oops, never mind, I was wrong, it was Merry. Sorry!

  • His voice is like Heaven......it is the most beautiful I've ever heard. Thank you SO much for posting this!

  • Omg thsi mad eme cry this song always makes me cry

  • traduccion

  • I love Billy Boyd. That song always gives me goosebumps, like when Aragorn sings at the end.

  • One of the little hobbits, Merry or Pippin, is Charlie from the show LOST, but I don't know which one. And when the that Steward jumped off the builing on fire, that was awesome!

  • That would be Merry. Dominic Monaghan is his name. Billy is Scottish, so I doubt he would even know Lost if Dom was not in it.

  • As hard as it may be to believe, even here in Scotland we have them new fangled TeeVees and get all dem new shows like Lost and Friends *rolls eyes*

  • We have TVs here?! God, look at us go with our new fangled inventions!!

  • scotland invented the tv and the phone....

  • What LOST ? what do you mean ? he got dissapeard ?

  • Pippin is the one who was in "Lost".

  • Gondor never had a good army when Farmiars father ruled,

  • if boromir never die he would had held of the orcs he was the one with all the battle skills a

  • THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS UP!!! :)

  • This was very sad... If the king didn't have so much expectations for his son, Faramir and his battalion could have stayed and protected the city from within the walls. The stupid king almost cost everyone in the entire city of Minas Tirith their lives..

  • He's a steward, not king. That would be Aragorn.

  • This is perhaps one of the saddest scens of this movie... A father not even caring about his sons most certain demise...

  • Im usually btw a heavy metal fan, but this song stole my heart..

  • I hadnt seen the trilogy of the lord of the rings before a few days ago.. i watched the first, and i was stunned.. it owns.. and the 2nd too, great scenes, but this one has got to be the best... I love this song .. It is so pure..

  • hey dude, I can't believe you hadn't seen the LOTR up till now. You know, there are two kinds of people: LOTR fans and LOTR haters. obviously you are one of the first. In that case, how could you avoid seeing the trilogy for soooo many years?!Interesting. Have you been living on the moon?

  • here are the lyrics Home is behind The world ahead. And there are many paths to tread. Through shadow, To the edge of night Until the stars are all alight Mist and shadow Cloud and shade All shall fade All shall...fade.
  • Thank you!! =D

  • ermm, what are the lyrics to this song?

  • power of hobit sexy sauron :d:d ahahhaha

  • This song tears me apart, his voice is absolutely gorgeous, so irish sounding. Perfect for the song

  • I totally agree with this.

  • i wish i could have words to describe what i feel as i listen to this song

  • This is one of my favorite scenes in all three movies! I cried my eyes out when I saw this.

  • Good clip but I was really hoping it would have the bit when the Gondor knights march through the street on their way out to confront the foe and everyones so sad for them. That bit had some great panpipe music

  • I totally agree with you. That sceen is very touching imo. I kind of miss the sound of the hooves and breath of the horses at the field as it is in the movie. But great videp!

  • Beautiful song. It would feel strange riding to them, knowing you're going to die.

  • hey pooh this was good huh?

  • I freaking looooove this XD <3 love Billy Boyd and Dominick Monaghan

  • awsome, impresive, beautiful, this is the most touching part in all 3 movies...great song and great voice for an actor ^_^

    Kaka

  • well if you didn't know billy boyd is a singer/songwriter slash actor .smile.

  • Most actors have a certain ammount of training with regards to singing

  • D'oh! My bad. I forgot the RoR weren't really in that battle. :P Sorry. That's Gothmog and his goons shredding up Gondorians.

  • T.T so sad..

  • Billy Boyd is amazing.

  • Man, that was a truly magnificent scene.

What makes LOTR the greatest movies of all time is that there are many many scenes close to this caliber.

    Thanks for putting this on!

  • Freaking heck...

That scene, and that scene ALONE, was the single best scene I've EVER witnessed in ANY movie (in my humble opinion). The scenes between the Riders of Rohan and the Orc horde match PERFECTLY with Billy's voice. It was just amazingly done...

  • those arnt the riders of rohan. they are gondorian riders. but its okay. i know what you mean.

  • Billy Boyd sings really well in this part of the film and it just makes the whole scene so sad.

It almost made me cry! :(

  • this whole movie makes me cry so much! but i love it <3333

  • he sings beautifully. makes me cry =,)

  • ;~;

    So sad....

  • God, Billy Boyd was great here.

  • Aye I loved this scene. One of the best done in the movie

  • okey he sings well lol

    hi!!

    im •○•DoTs•○• on EWF!! lol

  • Hello! Nice to see someone I know from somewhere else.

  • Excellent! No idea that he could sing...all hobbits can I guess...I am an elf (light, self proclaimed) and yet my voice is always hoarse....lol when the guy was eating and I thought it was blood....

  • Yeah the juice from whatever it was (a tomato i think) is symbolism for his sons failed attack upon Osgiliath.

wow, thats sad that i know that, i love tolkein way to much.

hahaha, love this song, saddest thing ever

  • No one can love Tolkein too much... hehe

  • does anyone have this song on MP3 format? if you do, PLEASE(i BEGGGGGGG you) send it to me!

  • I have it, just go to essentially-billy. com and click on Mulitmedia, then Media center and go to audios and you should find it.

  • I love this scene. I cry everytime I watch it. I just love Faramir/David Wenham. Billy Boyd did such a great job singing.

  • great scene!

  • that dude was really singing this song

  • Very nice, you got the audio to sync up very well. However, I think the ambient noise from the movie gives the scene and the song more emotion. Well done!

  • ah, I always tear up. So sad. But Billy Boyd, is a great singer.

  • When I first heard it I didn't pay attention, at first it wasn't that good to me. But later I re-heard it and I nearly cried. That's when I found out about Billy Boyd and became a huge fan of him. Bless you for crying when hearing this song...

  • Love this song, i cried when i first heard it :'')

  • yeah

  • yeah great scene

  • I know, Billy Boyd sang great right?
