The steward is really stupid, he sent his best knights to retake osgiliath but it was very futile, the orcs just killed everyone without effort. But how did faramir survive?
This scene is so sad D: This one's pretty significant to me because I knew Billy was a singer but I never knew he sang so very well. It's where I first heard him sing and I was so touched and pulled in the scene xD
Yeah Im pretty sure these lyrics are in the book, and Billy Boyd didnt write them. I remember reading them before the movie came out. Billy Boyd is still amazing though... and pretty adorable too!
home is behind the world ahead and there are many paths to tread through shadow till the edge of night until the stars are all alight mist and shadow cloud and shade all shall fade all shall fade.. i love this song!!
beautiful. every time i hear this i almost want to cry because its so sad. its my favourite scene! but wow he is an amazing singer! i wasnt sure if it was really him or not before!
No, no, Billy didn't write this song. Tolkien did. Billy just took a snippet from the whole song in the first book and made his own melody for this movie. But I agree, he is a very talented singer. He's a good songwriter too.
Thank you SO much for this. I wanted the visuals with the music, but his eating and chewing sounds are just so disgusting... It totally ruins the song for me. Merci!!!
This song is actually called 'The Edge of Night'. Not The Steward of Gondor. The songs transition right before Pipping starts to sing. It was one of the best scenes of the movie though.
how many men participated in the bloody suicidal counter attack? would have been bad ass had faramir's men reached osgiliath n showed sum battle scene
This song is actually in the first book, chapter 3. However, it was Bilbo who wrote it. I got so excited when I read it, because I was like, "Pippin sings that in ROTK!" :D
Pippin is by far my favourite character out of The Lord of The Rings. An adorable little hobbit he is :P And out of all the characters, I think Pip (or Merry) comes the closest to myself, personality-wise.
Billy Boyd has a very nice singing voice too ^^ The song really goes well to this scene; it's incredible.
Faramir is one of my Favorite characters. I love this scene. Other Favorite characters are Aragorn and Prince Imrahil (the prince of Dol Amroth in the books)
What about when Faramir and the Gondor Knights go through Minas Tirith knowing its a suicidal counter-attack they go to and the streets are filled with sadness for them. The panpipe music is amazing. Thats the most touching scene and would have been just before this scene. Yet, no-ones posted it on youtube :(
that is so gorgeous! i luv this song and its great that you took out the hoof beats and other loud noises. do you know if it has a real name so i can download the mp3?
Lame. Can't hear the horses hooves pounding on the ground. This was probably one of the most breathtaking sequences I've ever seen in a movie. It was really well done. It wasn't particularly sad, but the first time around, it really hits you.
Anyone have the mp3 link so I can download the song? By far the moment in the trilogy that was most moving for me- had me tearing up (which is incredibly rare for me). Amazing and beautiful and just beyond words.
they made so many kick ass things in these movies. Some people make movies and let em hit the ground. But theirs a reason why lotr's raped every movie and took home all of its awards.
that song is absolutly beautiful, its so sad, and i luv the battle scenes along with it, it gives it a certain strengh, it made me cry. Billy's voice is so beautiful and the song kinda sounds Celtic, i luv it so very much.
One of the little hobbits, Merry or Pippin, is Charlie from the show LOST, but I don't know which one. And when the that Steward jumped off the builing on fire, that was awesome!
This was very sad... If the king didn't have so much expectations for his son, Faramir and his battalion could have stayed and protected the city from within the walls. The stupid king almost cost everyone in the entire city of Minas Tirith their lives..
I hadnt seen the trilogy of the lord of the rings before a few days ago.. i watched the first, and i was stunned.. it owns.. and the 2nd too, great scenes, but this one has got to be the best... I love this song .. It is so pure..
hey dude, I can't believe you hadn't seen the LOTR up till now. You know, there are two kinds of people: LOTR fans and LOTR haters. obviously you are one of the first. In that case, how could you avoid seeing the trilogy for soooo many years?!Interesting. Have you been living on the moon?
here are the lyrics Home is behind The world ahead. And there are many paths to tread. Through shadow, To the edge of night Until the stars are all alight Mist and shadow Cloud and shade All shall fade All shall...fade.
Good clip but I was really hoping it would have the bit when the Gondor knights march through the street on their way out to confront the foe and everyones so sad for them. That bit had some great panpipe music
