@jrock2264 I can't say I've ever got up on a stage and tried to cover this song, but I wouldn't say that playing the solo note for note is all that hard. What I'm much more impressed by (as ever) is the consistency of his intonation. I wish I were that good at my own slide playing!

Watch and listen closely 2:38 - 2:43. Although there's no delay effect on the voice like on the recording or big concerts the line get's its effect after all ... that single line must be the best demonstration of artistic use of effects in the history of music. It's short, simple and the effect is subtle but without it it's not IT.
