  • ryan has a mullet........ lol

  • Yeah, zounds.. XD

  • Ryan and Sandi should've been paired together more often.

I like whenever Ryan does Shakespeare.

  • For those of you that like the UK version i have noting agenst you i think the US is way way way way better. Reason being is the commedians worked better together. People in the addiense laughed harder it was funnyer everything was better. even the host drew from the US did a way better job than the other non humoris guy who is the host on this show there for the US is way better

  • Ok Ryanlooked really really HOT when his jacket came off! That was my favorite part.

Ryan is sooo HOT! I like how tall he is to.

Did I mention Ryan looked HOT!!

  • He SO is as well.

  • ryan looks so hot. and so tall esp. compared to her lol

  • Bit of a size difference between them isn't there!! Does anyone know what episode in series 2 it is? :)

  • Series 2 Episode 4 ...atleast I fink :/

  • Yeah I think so too, thanks!! :)

  • Hey... I found that and it wasn't this episode. O.O Sure it's 2 x 04?

  • Hey, I looked around some more and I have it as Whose Line UK 2x05

  • Cool thanks. I think I'm going to be getting the 1st and 2nd series DVDs soon!

  • O.O You lucky cat!

  • Thats, if I'm lucky at Christmas! :D

  • *crosses fingers for Christmas too* A friend might be able to get me "Saving Private Ryan Stiles", but it's not certain. Good luck!

  • If only that were a real DVD!!

    Later, Nat :D

  • Ryan's First Episode, Think It Was Series 2...Not Sure Though.

No I Can't Blame Her For Checking Him Out Either :P

    <3

  • which episode is it, any1?

  • @hidalgo944 It's actually from Season 2, Episode 17, which was a compilation episodes with previously unaired scenes.

But yeah, Ryan's first episode was Season 2, Episode 5.

  • Ryan's Sooo Hot!!

    :P

  • she was totally checking him out. i cant blame her.

  • Ryan is looking really REALLY HOT XD especially when he took off his jacket

  • omg ryan has not changed since his first show to his last. He seemed a bit more shy compared to the way he acted in the later shows but if i did it i would of been.

  • Sandi Toksvig is AWESOME

  • Sandi really is great with American accents, isn't she? (Not surprising, I guess, since she used to live there...)

  • Ryan is so adorable :D

He's the only living person who can look fit with a mullet.

Business in the front, party in the back xD

  • Other than David Bowie.

  • ok true. the americans DID just follow up on what the english started but you can't deny that the americans brought a more modern take on the show whereas the set for the english one looks like the set for mastermind or something. to finish, the american version (though its just a follow-up) is more lively, energetic, funny and its just plain better

  • I disagree. I prefer the UK set because its plain. the show isn't about the set, its about the performers and nothing else.

  • well what about wayne brady? i have seen many, many episodes of the UK AND US version and i don't ever remember seeing an african-american in the UK version. as well as the other stuff I pointed out, IMO Brady also brought some ethnicityinto the show

  • Well, I wasn't talking about diversity. Just so you know, a black person is only an "african american" if they are from the US.

Lenny Henry was in the original radio series, but was never on the tv. Anyway, the guests should be chosen for their talent, not for the colour of their skin or whether they are male or female.

  • ok, that's true. but I did mean a black person that was from america, suh as wayne brady. good point

  • Love Ryan's mullet!

  • Heheh Ryan was so undone by Shakespeare, he didnt have a clue.

Very funny show, Sandi looks tiny next to Ryan

  • By the way, Colin was born British - he's from Scotland!

  • Like most Canadians XD.

    (That's a joke, everyone, God).

  • Does anyone watch Whose Line is it Anyway on the the new Dave channels? The golden years... very nostalgic. It's like if someone remade a film, let's say, ummm, The Godfather, it would never compare to the original. There will always be something about this original series which I guess an American wouldn't understand. Great British comedy!

  • Omg, I'm so sorry. I was trying to reply, and accidentally marked it as spam - I'm so sorry.

Anyway, I'm a bit too young for this when it was actually broadcast, but love it on Dave.

  • Yes, definitely. I loved it the first time round and it hasn't lost anything over time, IMO. I think your right about the Americans not understanding British comedy but then it's a well-known fact that the Americans can't do irony either. It's not for nothing that my dream WLIIA line-up (Sandi, Josie, Tony & John [Sessions]) doesn't include a single American.

  • Those in the US version knew what to do as it was already done before. I suppose the US version is just a continuation of the original series. I'd like to see the USA try to come up with shows that would make other countries remake it...

  • Actually, the original British version is just as good, if not better than the US remake. And you're completely wrong - the original version had nothing to improve upon as nobody could compare it to anything else because there was nothing like it that was being broadcasted. It was only since the start of US version that people were starting to compare - before then, it was seen as "perfect" to its fans (and still is).

  • It's like World War II - the UK/Europe (and some other countries outside Europe) done all the hard work, then the US comes along (minus punctuality) and finishes it off, then claims they've "saved their asses" ie. "saved UK/Europe"... I'm kicking myself for bringing up the war as this is what Americans usually do!

  • The US had very little to improve upon because, like I said before, they had all the hard work done for them! Saying the US version is better than the original UK version is like saying Robert De Niro is better than Marlon Brando, or that mobile phones are better than wind-up, wired telephones - it's insulting the person/s who invented it! If the UK haven't had invented it, the US series would never have existed!

  • um no. that actually doesnt matter. it isnt insulting at all. its my opinion. you're really only proving my point with everything you are saying. the US ad stuff to work on, stuff to "perfect". the actors on it were also on the UK(some of them) so there was more experience. that alone can make it funnier. if the UK went on longer, it would probably be just as funny just because of experience. i also felt the was better chem. between the actors on the US.

  • [cont'd]... The US also play the same games rather than different games for each show. UK humour is also different - usually complicated sentences/undertones (rather than ludricrous actions and obvious direct messages) were used - it's humour which intelligent people find funny as they have to put in more effort to understand.

  • well dont get me wrong, i like british humor. i dont just like "stupid funny" stuff. i do enjoy smart humor. but the thing is, i found people like ryan and collin and some of the other US people to be smarter improvers. i just found a lot of the english people to not be as funny or as quick. there is stuff on the US that i just would have never come up with while the UK sometimes had obvious jokes.

  • [cont'd]... The US version's first studio audience (who were likely to have seen the original UK series) had learnt from this. They participated as much as they wanted because they've seen this being done by the UK audiences - this clearly rubbed off onto the next studio audiences (who probably haven't seen the original UK series). All the games in the US series were copied from the UK series - the US haven't come up with anything new... [cont'd]

  • Those who think the UK version isn't funny are saying so only because they've seen the US version first. Those who watched the original UK version before the later US version would've laughed their heads off. The UK had come up with the concept and had to build upon nothing besides the very original radio version - the Americans had all the hard work already done for them.

  • when i started watching this show i was watching them both. i still found the US version to be funnier. it had a more laid back feel to it and imo had better people on it. it just felt more fun while the UK felt like i was in a college or something. almost felt too serious.

  • But you have to realise that the cast, the crew and the studio audience started off from scratch (except the very original radio series). They used their own initiative to come up with ideas, for example; the level of participation from the audience was starting to rise because they were becoming comfortable with the concept of the show, however, there were very little at the beginning of the series because they didn't know how much they could participate [cont'd]...

  • In short I think the British version is much better, but the American actors are miles better, which is why the later years of the UK version are the golden years. Much prefer Anderson as a presenter, and prefer the audience, the Americans simply lap it up all too easily

  • That was awesome!!! Ryan took off his jacket... boy is he hot. =3 Save for the mullet. His Shakespeare's halarious. "Yeah... zoons."

  • i luv her face at 00:13 so funnyilyk the atmospere in the american much better and most lykly funnyer and can i say ryan did not understand a word of that shakespeir?? and i agree with arbeesrainbowvomit(nice name!)and i miss colin he needs to b in this show to makeit work!same with wayne!

  • i luv her face at 00:13 so funny she loves him!!

  • Wow, Sandi must be as short as me...so adorable next to Ryan!

  • I dont mean to offend any americans out there, but you guys laugh and scream at everything, once i saw a shopping chanel and you guys were getting excited because a man but a chip in a fryer, you guys were like WOOOOHOOO OMG A CHIP IVE NEVER SEEN THAT HAPPEN...

  • that's why the english version is so much quiter... XD man, it's a whole different show without the "woooooooooooooos" XD

  • Brits are generally quieter... it's just them. *Shrug*

  • Ryan was hot in that black complet.

    :O

And lol Sandi is so small compared to Ry xD

  • She's so tiny next to him! So adorable!

  • ryan,

    he'd get it hahaa

  • Yeah zounds! I think Snadi was abit out of her element in the mel brooks segment, its a shame thta just as they went on to good old familiar shakespere territory, which she could master, Ryan stole the show again with he humour of ignorance. Still damn funny tho!

  • im so sorry that i have to say this...but brittish humor is rather stiff. *wince* sorry, i just had to get it out there. Oh,its funy alright, but if you compare it to the american version, things just seem...lighter.

feel free not to agree with that, its just what i think

  • I'd have to agree with you - when we're talking about comedy improv anyway.

Game shows like Have I got News for You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Mock the Week, however, work much better with British humor than with American humour.

    x

  • right. the nice thing about British humor in this show is that its complimented so nicely with the suit Clive's wearing...and muted atmosphere in the studio...you get what i'm saying?

  • Yeah I get you :] Good point.

  • lol, and of course the other side of that point is the US version. Drew making sexual cracks every other second, the audience screaming out and going nuts (I always found the US crowd much more into it and enthusiastic than the american version) and, i dont know. There's more energy? lol i have no idea what im trying to say here.

  • I absolutly LOVE American audiences.

They're always SO enthusiastic and generally seem happy just to be there xD

Us Brits tend to be a little more subdued because it's in our nature.

My dad hates American audiences xD He gets really pissed off when they start screaming at everything the actors do.

I can see his point - But I think it's fabulous they're so into what the performers are doing and it must be real nice for the actors to get such a positive response.

    x

  • There's definitely a lot more energy in the American version. I usually prefer a more subdued type of humour, but it works well for improv.

  • even with a mullet (haha cute) ryan is still dead sexy! god he was even amazing on his first time <3333

  • lol, Ryan is SO CUTE in a weird way...lol

    :)

    he;s my hero.

  • Sandi was a lesbian?????

  • true

  • was.. she still is ^_^

  • Someone else pointed this out, but doesn't Sandi look like she could be Clive in drag?!

  • Makes me happy that i was born in 93 so i didnt really get to work around looking like something that just been draged through the trash

  • RYAN!

    <3

  • Mullet or not, Ryan was still hot back then. Just look at Sandi look at him.

  • Ryan must've been hot if Sandi looked at him - she's a lesbian! lol

  • yeah, zounds

  • Dang, she's good at impromptu Shakespeare. XD "Lord preserve us, thy tongue hath gone wild!"

  • yeah zounds

  • dear god look at that mullet...

  • I know! The 90's certainly didn't do anyone any favors when it comes to looks...

  • Actually I think this was the late 80s.

  • I love Sandi so very much. Her and Ryan work great together. Thanks for posting this :)

  • Man, Sandi is so cute next to Ryan. She's so goddamn tiny!

  • "If I were but a man who would be tall, I would be me!!!" Oh dear god!!! HA!

  • cause he is really that damn good.
