  • where did yall get the flags from??

  • Amazing PLD!! :)

    --An Adair Band Member--

  • omg i love the sound and da show go pld see u again at the macys anytime

  • Man, I miss that school! 08 graduate, and I have many a friend that marched on that day XD

I was so proud of Dunbar lol

But Matt Lauer said "Lexing Kentucky" instead of LexingTON lol XD

Oh well, still one of our best days XD

  • Danville High School IS still in existence, they're making their way back to where they used to be. Went from 14th to 7th in only a YEAR. GO ADMIRALS!!

  • what was their show called this year

  • do you mean the year this video was made (my immortal), or THIS year 2008 (ninja)

  • i mean 2007. i know their show was Ninja in '08 because i'm in lafayette

  • yah, it didn't realy have a theme, but it was based on the song "my immortal"

  • Comment removed

  • I guess it evens out for being so good of a team; wearing those fugly uniforms D:

Omg their flagwork was beautiful *tear*

  • the uniforms are cute... but thats an opinion. just like yours.

  • if look closely, from one of the areal vews at 1:06 you can see the tenors doing a cutting the turky vishual. it's pritty funny.

  • why dont you guys have tenors this year? that surprised me.

  • yah, its very depressing, i'm on drumline, we were very short handed this year because we had seven seniors graduate, and only two freshmen come in. we just didn't have enough people this year.

  • well sorry to hear that, we had a similar amount of freshman come in but we are pretty stacked otherwise. It surprised me when i saw that.

  • hey smabby just put up a good version of american times, go check it out. its pretty much amazing.

  • Wow i liked it better when they marched down the street cause we actually got to see the band not just the Gaurd. I mean they were good but the bad would be cool to see. I like how the annoucer said lexing kentucky.

  • you guys are leaving out the greatest dynasty, the GRC band in the 80's and early 90's. They were dominant and noone could even sniff them for the longest time. And this year I think Madison Central will win.

  • Comment removed

  • hey tyler no madison central probably wont win ive heard dunbars show, and i know first hand lafayettes show, are too good this year madison central would have to be the best band kentucky has ever seen to win this year because like i said top 2 bands have amazing shows

  • Comment removed

  • PLUS WE WARM UP TO COLDPLAYS VIVA LA VIDA BEAT THAT MADISON CENTRAL lol

  • Comment removed

  • (Jeff Hood, PLD's current band director was director at GRC.) Also left out... North Hardin's Dynasty, Tates Creek & Dixie Heights also had a fierce bands back in the day. Not to forget the smaller bands like the Danville Admirals(no longer in existence), Adair, Hazard, Elizabethtown (now John Hardin I believe). KY has had many exceptional band programs. I think they are all referring to present day Lexington rivalry since PLD opened in 1990.

  • it must be great to have money.

  • Yay! Go Dunbar :)

  • is it just me or did matt lauer leave out the

"-ton" in lexington at the beginning of the vid?

  • Comment removed

  • this band is great. loving findin all these videos!

  • to the person that alluded to the yankees and red sox is only partly correct. yes the yankees and lafayette dominated in the 90's and yes the red sox dominate now but you also have to look at how close it is year to year. the yankees arent even close caliber wise to the red sox. i think they might even be like 4th place in the al east division. at least dunbar and lafayette are close EVERY year. that comparison is only partly right

  • ok one the punctuation this is internet no ones gona worry about it 2 if you done here why you keep coming back hmm? and its the same for a good portion of the dunbar band too moron if your done dont respond to this

  • Your immaturity (and lack of punctuation) is astounding. Really. I've already said I'm done here, so cut it out. You care far too much about a simple extra curricular activity, and that can be said for a good portion of the Lafayette band.

  • one people from PLD has said that only the last 3 years count because we have 13 out of the past 15 so yeah that would seem like WE have the upper hand you just count since dubar had its first win not since lafayette in this little bracket so no dunbar doesnt have the upper hand get over it NO ONE DOES ITS STINKEN MARCHING BAND and between 4 a and 5a im sure they judge a little differently by the size the sound should be and such so yeah its last 3 not 5 and if you still say 5 than last 15

  • Winning 4 out of the last 5 years counts as having an upperhand. The new format doesn't matter in this topic because both PLD and Lafayette have been in the same class for 15 years now.

And I'm done now, for real. Have you guys ever seen that picture of that handicapped kid running? "Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded." Great quote.

  • well see its not like that cause PLD doesnt really have the upperhand cause we won LAST year so who ever wins this year will make that decision because its only 2-1 in the new format not that big its switching off and on and if lafayette wins it will continue that pattern if dunbar wins they will have the upperhand and thats not insulting dunbar thats just the truth

  • PLD has been as good as Lafayette for 5 years now.

This rivalry actually reminds me a lot of Yankees - Red Sox. New York dominated for decades, up until Boston came out of nowhere a couple years ago down 3-0 in the ALCS to win the World Series. Now it seems that the Sox have the upper hand in the rivalry.

  • true hey vettes what chair did you get

  • one you are the one that just started that with the state medal comment cause i said even if we won its an opinion and 2 your wrong about the most important so get over it leading the parade is more important and now that dunbar has finally gotten JUST as good as lafayette they are gonna prolly switch it off so yeah

  • You guys really need to quit picking fights about the most trivial irrelevancies, it gets more and more pointless each day. Hell, our drumline and colorguard JUST now started practicing, the rest of the band isn't even doing anything yet. Save it for the field.

  • Comment removed

  • You can have your memories of leading a worthless Christmas parade (and you're still wrong about which is more important), and I'll keep my state championship medal. Deal?

  • and winnign state is completely opinionated if lafayette wins this year ill think the same thing its all about what the judges like. unless there is like a 4 point difference its all about opinions and by the way the parade is scheduled months in advance

  • I really don't want to get into this, but perhaps PLD got the leading spot because they had both won state and marched in the biggest parade in the country in the same year? I don't really care, the parade was lame as hell, but just saying.

  • lol, you've got a point

  • he would have a point if dunbar had GOTTEN the lead LAFAYETTE got the lead dunbar brought in santa which leading the parade is more important people in dunbar thought that we had gotten moved down and didnt know we had gotten the lead so they started rubbing it in at least at my church that they had stolen our spot when we had acctually moved up

  • Comment removed

  • i dont know, i don't have those on tape. (my dad recorded this on tv)

  • Comment removed

  • Most of PLD band members really aren't into band that much...I don't know, it just seems that when the season is over we don't talk about it much. I doubt Anime will ever be put up on YouTube.

  • Comment removed

  • you guys are usually not in the parade anyways so why would you get the main part in it the first time your not better than us so it seems we would come out on top after being in it a lot longer and we did

  • yah but that year was maby our best ever, but this year may be our worst ;]

  • you do realize the whole "we couldnt get there soon enough" does not make on SHRED of sense because we got there AFTER you lol so again think before you talk

  • shes talking to me and i said that because you dont know how MANY people from Dunbar at my church were coming up saying "HAHA we lead in santa we owned you guys this just shows dunbar is better than lafayette" when in reality this AND your comment shows how much respect "or lack there of" you and some people at dunbar have. and people at dunbar have NO MORE skill then the people at lafayette MOST OF US COME FROM SOME OF THE SAME MIDDLE SCHOOL BANDS YOU MORON. Think before you talk next time

  • i think its a tie, because lafayette won like 14 years in a row or something rediculouse, but dunbar has gotten realy good the past few years. its hard to say. i think it will go back and forth in state the next few years.

  • agreed

  • Comment removed

  • i rather enjoyed the entire performance, including the guard uniforms. i think they started a trend this winter, saw a lot of ear muffs afterwards. and i heard nutcracker a lot more this holiday season, sure perhaps those are coincidental, but i like to think different. SPECTACULAR JOB!

  • Comment removed

  • i agree, i liked the show and all, but im not goen to play a song all the time cause some random band played it in a parade!

  • wow nice try, but no. a band that marched in the macy's thanksgiving day parade is not going to influence fashion or music! Thats like saying the we, Ooltewah, started a clown trend haha.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL thanks for the laugh its true

  • dunbar rocks! (the color guard uniforms are gay)

  • THANK GOD FOR JEFF HOOD AND BRIAN MORGAN, the directors of the Dunbar Band.

    You guys are AWESOME!

  • i dont think he can handle the work i personally think he could but i dont think he WANTS to

  • Comment removed

  • doc could easily get a head job somewhere. but i agree with your comment about mr smith. hes fantastic

  • Comment removed

  • mr.smith was there for over half of the nineties so he had a major part. not just mr.moore. why are people so down on mr.smith?

  • Comment removed

  • Where did I say that I didn't respect Lafayette? I have all the respect in the world for Mr. Moore. What LHS did in the 90's is probably among the most dominating decades on marching history.

And I really don't care about Lafayette's history, nor do I PLD's recent one. I only care about what's happened since I've been a part of the rivalry, and right now it's tied 1-1.

  • Comment removed

  • Ancient history. I'm guessing that most of the bandies who post on youtube are from the ages of 13-18 or so, and they probably weren't in band before 2003.

  • Comment removed

  • 1. I really don't think he's the one who's bitter. What does a PLD fan have to be bitter about? 4 out of 5.

    2. Who really cares about thumbs up/thumbs down on youtube? Seriously.

  • Comment removed

  • bo problem

  • thankyou andrew, i appreictiate it. spooge is just a little bitter. i show more class than you and you know it.

  • shut up mighty wag. You show a lot of class with your comments, RIIIGHT. Get a clue and leave this band alone.

  • all shes doing is defending lafayette just like you do dunbar. so spooge why dont you get a clue and leave lafayette alone

  • i like how EVERYONE put thumbs down for the facts that vettesrock gave us. shows class. thanks dunbar!

  • I think he said "Lexing, Kentucky", or at least thats what it sounded like.

  • Go Bulldogs ! Lafayette is dead !

  • not so much

  • yay DUNBAR ROCKS ill b in that band in less than a year!!!!! yayyy

ohh and it makes me mad at the beginning the dude is like from "lexing" ky and im like wtf? learn how to read.

  • WOW, how the colorguard has gotten so much better since dunbar first opened. I AM MUCHO IMPRESSED! GAWD I LOVE THIS BAND!

  • Paul Laurence Dunbar High School is named after the famous 19th century African-American poet, Paul Laurence Dunbar. Opened in 1990, the school is the newest high school in Lexington, Kentucky. With an enrollment of over 2200, it is the second-largest public high school in Kentucky, following Henry Clay High School.[citation needed] It also houses the Math, Science, and Technology Center. The old dunbar high school was closed when segregation was outlawed. Forever huh? lol.

  • someone should do their research... taken from the LHS website. "In 1973, J. Larry Moore came to Lafayette to lead the band in ever-increasing and even more intense competitions, as band programs were growing at a fast pace in this area." didnt compete until 1990? haha. sophomoron Miroden.

  • Comment removed

  • one thing you also forgot Lafayette didnt start competing till 1990 either. Amazing how far this band has come! I thank you for the many years of great memories and the many more to come Lafayette Band!

and if you think winning then wasnt an accomplishment then you cant think with any sense dunbars was (.22) not a big margin

  • ALSO, Dunbar opened in 1990. Amazing how far this band has come! I thank you for the many years of great memories and the many more to come Dunbar Band!

  • Comment removed

  • In the nineties STATE was always a close race, never a blow out. Dunbar always trailed by only tenths of a point to 2 points. So dont try to make HISTORY out like it was something it wasn't.

  • Comment removed

  • they are just wanting to outdo us and it seems like everyone TRYING to outdo us arent even FROM dunbar lol

  • Comment removed

  • and marc the way you talk you sound like you arent in the band how do you know they only try and beat them selves and yeah the AAAA do count cause they werent that long ago AND lafayette and dunbar were in the same group the 2 to 1 is saying we are now starting to switch off in my opinion dunbar and lafayette are bot about the same in skill right now the state title will prolly go to us next year then the year after that dunbar thatswhata competition is its not competitionifone group controlling

  • good one mark? wow. so how bout you go watch some lafayette 1993, 1994 and you go ahead and compare dunbar to lafayette. it would be like comparing lafayette to pulaski county. no comparison. nice try though. you get an A for effort.

  • Comment removed

  • uh oh here goes another ranting idiot.

it's about the kids, let dunbar have its day.

and the record in AAAAA is dunbar 2, lafayette 1. not keeping score or anything but those AAAA titles dont mean much anymore. Its not the ninety's. Its a new style of competition and the only band dunbar tries to beat is itself. So keep talking, but dunbar keep on marching to the top. your shows and music bring cheer to my life every year.

  • everyone form lafayette has to admit that this year was a bad one. we had so much unlucky things happen ie. grant county, our center snare incident, mr warren, etc. i could go on and on. and to think we were that close to winning is sadening. also dunbar people should talk about how they are nice when they win... when they one they were taunting us as we left the field. hmmm now.

  • alrighty guys. now lets just see. who has the bigger and better history? LAFAYETTE! who won2 out of the 3 times they met this year? LAFAYETTE! hmmm i think that should just prove it right there. you cant say dunbar is better than us until you beat us in the national ratings. good luck with that.

  • I've been a fan of this band since "Reflections of Earth" I think that is one of the most underrated shows I have ever seen. Dunbar is incredible. Just one more great performance from a phenomenal marching band program. Thank you. Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeves for next marching season.

  • thats to hungry monkey they DO brag lots you dont know the half of it and you prolly never even seen dunbar till this

  • puts a smile on my face, thanks dunbar.

  • 649spooge thats cause you looking for stuff from lafayette look at when we won last year there is plenty of stuff if not deleted yet from them when Lafayette won and if you likve in Florida why are you so obsesed with dunbar they are by far not the best in theo country if you want the best bands go to Texas but they do equal amount its part of the rivalry learn what your talking about before coming on here because Dunbar AND lafayette do even amounts of trashing notice neitherhaseverwonnational

  • Wow! The announcer said Lexing Kentucky.

  • what gets annoying is logging in and seeing lafayette band members bashing this dunbar band. every video i have googled for them has some ridiculous, jealous remark from a lafayette band member. get over yourselves and let dunbar's work speak for itself.

  • Comment removed

  • hey Lafayette QUIET PLD Deserves that championship just as much as Adair did their *cough* they all work hard ... P.L.D deserves it more because they dont brag and if they lost.... O WELL they wouldnt bash anyone.... i enjoyed seeing PLD hella more then you guys... we all know Mary had a little lamb would have beaten you all... i mean who agrees

  • Comment removed

  • Dunbar bashes MORE a lot of the stuff got deleted lol you shoula seen it and dunbar isnt even fun to watch their show was horrible before state they pulled it together in the last week but they bashed us a WHOLE LOT last year cause we ended their streak and they will prolly bash us again next year when we whoop them again they had a great freshman class last year lafayette on the other hand did not we alos had a crappy senior class next year Dunbar doesnt stand a chance

  • This season... we will ALL see... and who gets the trophy

  • yeah we will trust me hungrymonkey you not in any of the bands why do you care does yours suck too much? but lafayette will win next year they were pissed at us this year so they worked to beat us this year we are pissed so we will work harded

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah i should last year they said they would cause they had an awesome senior class and freshman class coming well this year we do even more so yeah i should

  • do you get off on annoying people?

  • Comment removed

  • it just gets annoying cause lafayette is just as good as dunbar people just dont like to see lafayette win anymore cause we did for so long

  • no, they don't like to see you win because you're arrogant assholes

  • Comment removed

  • it would be a tought decision who to lead santa out, hmm. a multiple nation-title holder like marion catholic from Illinois or a fresh new band like dunbar. I feel dunbar got a great slot in the parade. In front of the long-awaited shrek balloon. Awesome, gets better everytime i see it. i only wish i could see the incredible drill and the bands horn and body movements.

  • Comment removed

  • sorry 2002 not 2001

  • i can almost guarantee that it will be a long while before lafayette gets another invite to macys and if you do, im sure you wont lead out santa.

  • miroden, i am speaking for myself. i live in florida and from what i can see, dunbar band is the best band in ky. who are you to tell people what to think. i've been a fan of this band for years. lafayette was terrible and it's colorguard was horrendous at macys! i remember you had cheesy santa hats and the girls could barely get their legs in the air doing kicks.

  • yea we kno. im a junior sousaphone. and we always make fun of our colorguard and that stuff. its nuthin new.

  • just watched it again next year teach your colorgaurd to get in lines

  • watch marion catholic, a 7 time national title holder and then say get in lines. they are more crooked lines than dunbar. dont hate your competition, embrace it and figure out what they are doing better than you. words of advice. go dunbar. keep beating those bullies.

  • they arent doing anything better than us they beat us by .22 points thats not better thats luck either way if lafayette had won by that itd be luck

  • and most of lafayette wouldnt even want to go cause the thing is we dont like spending our thansgiving holiday out doing Dunbar like Dunbar does except they whole out doing thing they failed at that but we like being with family

  • and by the way Dunbar band was barely seen unless you like seeing those things in i dont know what to call em candy canes with flags? but dunbar only got shot going out i would say that is a major disappointment for kentucky to be represented by those things

  • and no Dunbar isnt the best in Kentucky until you beat our place of 11 in nationals you can not say you are better than us you need to get about 10 more state titles too get over it itll take you FOREVER

  • the last time i saw lafayette at macys i thought jeez, what a huge disappointment! thnak god i didnt think that about dunbar. go dawgs! keep up the stellar performances.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • actually, the last time i saw lafayette at macy's i thought jeez what a huge disappointment! thank goodness i didnt think that watching dunbar. go dawgs!

  • pl dunbar is the best band in kentucky!

  • This was a wonderful performance. What a great experience for the Dunbar band. Thank you for making Kentucky look great!

  • they sucked at maceys then they got lafayettes main part because lafayette got a better part LEADING THE PARADE HAHAHA!

  • you moron. you got the leading spot in the parade because we couldnt get there early enough. it had nothing to do with your skill or lack there of.

  • haha i saw that that was so funny they got jipped it was so funny i was rolling

  • From Lexing Kentucky... Nice.

  • only thing i see is that the band wasnt really featured it was the colorgaurd

  • LOVED IT! the guard was amazing.. really good work for a parade.. :)
