Just to let you know. We are performing this piece at a interfaith concert and this video is the one that my choir director picked for us to learn from. AND HE IS PICKY!!!! It really helped me to get my alto part in place. Thank you!!!
I've done this at the original tempo with organ, trumpet and timpani. It was awesome! I like this more measured and controlled version. It works. This is an indication of a solid piece fo music!
omg who the hell decided to take this like waaaaay to slow! the voices are great tho. i am singing this in my university chorus and were taking it alot faster.
When I was 16 years old, I was not interested in choral music, by the time I graduated high school, it was my passion. It is all because of the woman conducting this group. Refined is an understatement. All of her students were exposed to the highest caliber of music available to us, and we all left with a tremendous foundation from which to draw. Wouldn't it be a boring world if we all interpreted music and art the exact same way!!!! Thanks for posting. . .it brought back memories!!!!
The singing is lovely and the refined approach is rather appealing, if rather slow I have say. Living in Cambridge, UK, the fresh sound is rather familiar.
No problem. McMurry is the smallest of three universities in Abilene so we tend to get a lot of "attitude" from the other two schools. As a future choral director, I'd be happy to direct a choir such as yours. As long as you guys really enjoy the music and share that enjoyment with the audience, then I think you accomplished your goal.
Jeez dude, lay off. I don't see why you have to be so rude. Honestly, there is no reason to come on here and trash someone else's video. So the director took it slower than marked. Big whoopty doo! I can't stand musicians with poor attitudes. I thought you guys did a fine job, regardless of the tempo. Keep up the good work!
Dear good sir. My choir director was doing what she thought was necessary to get the job done. Unless you know my choir director or the audience we sang this for, I don't see how you can assume that she performed this piece incorrectly.
It doesn't matter whom your conductor is, or the audience. RVW specifically marked tempo on this piece. You do not go against the composers wishes and do an ad. Lib. performance. If this was the job she needed to get done you all need a more forceful conductor and a more regimented rehearsal if this is all you all were capable of! This is elementary work my friend, and unacceptable for a college level performance. I am not assuming the piece was performed incorrectly; I know it that it is!
I'm sorry but you are obviously not a real musician; true musicians take pieces of music and mould it to the way they want it to sound! Sometimes sticking to what's written just isn't enough; music can be whatever you want it to be, and if you are narrow-minded enough to think that it must be exactly what is written every time then quite frankly you shouldn't consider yourself anything less than an idiot.
This was not 'incorrect', merely different, and I enjoyed listening to every harmony.

Glad I could accommodate.

Why aren't we using the organ behind the choir? With a choir that good, you should be able to get a good organist.

I agree with you 100% this piece is much more forceful and amazing at its original tempo!

Sit down, shut up, and enjoy the music. Your COMMENTS are unacceptable!
