I read a book about 6 years ago called Iranian F-4 Phantom II Units In Combat (Osprey Combat Aircraft 37) and it was a fascinating book and a great read! There was even an account of an F-4 crew downing an Iraqi Su-22 with cannon fire from their Vulcan M61A1! It showed a grainy looking black and white gun camera still of the jet going down. I would have loved to have met that Phantom crew and gotten their autographs :)

Iranians had to have bombed these three locations other wise ,the destiny of war could hurt iran. In this attack8 Iranian F14, cross over turkey without their permission and entered Iraq, as the Iraqies think these are turkish fighters, they choose to stay close to the ground as the radar would miss them. . I think it was around 50-60 aircraft, but still an AMAZING achievement considering they the Iranians didn't lose a single airfraft in the mission (which consisted of i think around 8 hrs flying time, most of it flying under 1000ft i.e. extremley dangerous!)

I think it was around 50-60 aircraft, but still an AMAZING achievement considering they the Iranians didn't lose a single airfraft in the mission (which consisted of i think around 8 hrs flying time, most of it flying under 1000ft i.e. extremley dangerous!)
