As a instructor I see all the new ways that teens are finding ways to continue to text and drive. Its new to the public but been on the market for awhile. it called ----voice to text--- also you can do all other things like voice to e-mail, looking up a business. i feel this is a disaster waiting to happen. its a bigger distraction then regular texting. This works perfectly with a Bluetooth. so people can still voice text and no one will be able to tell.This will be the biggest problem ever.....

Honestly it should be illegal. Why can't a text wait? I was in a car accident last year my ex boyfriend was driving he hit a semi truck head on I'm 19 years old and can no longer see out of my left eye I had to drop out bc of all my surgeries. And he wasn't even texting. So yes it should be illegal there's car accident when there are no distractions, your just risking it more when you text. Your friends can fucking wait.

This shows the dangers involved with texting while driving, and unfortunately for me, being a motorcycle rider, I have to watch out for these kind of people each day. I definately stay my distance away from these yahoos. I ask myself everyday "who wants to kill me by distracted driving?" and luckily, I have not had anyone kill or seriously maime me yet by their inattentive driving.

i hate it when my friends are trying to text while driving. i always tell them that if they start texting while driving i WILL yell and grab the phone from them! and one time, the emergency brake is close to where we both are sitting, and I pulled it! lucky for me, cause she almost hit a dog! grr, I HATE it when ppl are texting and no one in the car does a thing about it!

As a instructor I see all the new ways that teens are finding ways to continue to text and drive. Its new to the public but been on the market for awhile. it called ----voice to text--- also you can do all other things like voice to e-mail, looking up a business. i feel this is a disaster waiting to happen. its a bigger distraction then regular texting. This works perfectly with a Bluetooth. so people can still voice text and no one will be able to tell.This will be the biggest problem ever.....

this accident reminded me of the one my family and I were in years ago. We didn't know the cause, but someone hit three cars that caused the one behind us to hit the back....scared the crap out of me. I'm glad no one was hurt, but really....how is it someone can lose focus on a cellphone while driving? It's ridiculous. Now I'm sure he's lost his job..if he hadn't picked up that phone of his, he would have still been working.

The woman driver who is alive to tell her story...that's me, too! Seeing this made me cry & cringe all over, reliving the horrific memories of my own car wreck 6 mo. ago. I was stopped at a traffic light in my city on a major thoroughfare when my small car was suddenly plowed into from behind by an SUV going 55+ MPH. Distracted & using a cell phone, the driver never even braked. I'm grateful I'm even alive! Seeing my car, the 1st responding police thought they'd find me as a dead driver.

I saw an accident much like yours on the 400 series highways in Canada when cell phones were still new and novel, no texting then just talking, and decided that if something could be that distracting I didn't need to have it.

Yay for your defensive driving! not only can you avoid accidents but, studying traffic/looking ahead, can give you awesome lane changes others dont realize b/c they are only looking as far ahead as the next set of tail lights

I actually have 3 cellphones sitting in my desk that were given to me when friends updated to newer technology but I've never found a reason to get them activated. It seems the only people that want or need me to have one are those giving me their outdated equipment.
I'm not unreachable, I have a pager. If people can't wait for me to get back to them after they've paged me then that is their own issues, not my lack of a phone :).

Any excuse at all for one needing to text while driving is pathetic selfishness. I have seen drunk drivers, sleepy drivers and texting drivers on the road. All traits are the same. Put the phones down people. Save the grief that you, your family and the families of others you may harm or kill will suffer. Not to mention the financial and legal tidal way that will continue to hit you for years to come. And to that Illinois State Trooper I witnessed texting while driving. Practice what you preach!

Honestly it should be illegal. Why can't a text wait? I was in a car accident last year my ex boyfriend was driving he hit a semi truck head on I'm 19 years old and can no longer see out of my left eye I had to drop out bc of all my surgeries. And he wasn't even texting. So yes it should be illegal there's car accident when there are no distractions, your just risking it more when you text. Your friends can fucking wait.

This shows the dangers involved with texting while driving, and unfortunately for me, being a motorcycle rider, I have to watch out for these kind of people each day. I definately stay my distance away from these yahoos. I ask myself everyday "who wants to kill me by distracted driving?" and luckily, I have not had anyone kill or seriously maime me yet by their inattentive driving.

@bettle64 no it shouldnt be against the law , i counted 6 seconds of him not paying attention to the road the max is 2 seconds this is what is used to read a map , play with the stereo look in your rear mirror , check out stuff , texting should be the same, ive been texting while driving since 1998 and have never crashed cos i know the limit 2 letters at a time road comes first ,takes abit longer but its called patients if you ban that then might as well ban checking the rear & wing mirrors too

@NawtyAngel911 i thought of that is why i added an alternative and yes someone i know is glued to the mirrors, so vain she drove right over a ring road and makes excuses like it was a short cut rather then i wasnt looking :S last time i got in the car with her was about 2 years ago and even then bumped the curb and nearlie crashed into the barrier ,has had 7 crashes with other cars all them the other person was at fault but i find that hard to believe heh so yeah ive almost wrote a will too
