I doubt whether the RS would be able to have a similar gain over a well maintained Corrado VR6. it would ve very close. TheCorrado VR6 is one of the best handling and fastest cars (of its class) ever built. And also worth pointing out it is nearly 20 years old yet still can hold a candle to the newer ones
Power to weight is everything with or without corners and it's obvious this guy wasn't trying very hard to keep up, and as for his bhp it's feasible because my aeb 1.8t with just a chip intake and factory ko3 at 14 psi makes 235bhp and so If he is tuned well enough with correct boost pressure and fueling I could see it
I found out something interesting yesterday. Fords claimed 305 bhp is actually bullshit, they only make on average 275 bhp. Watch some dyno runs or search google and you will see what I mean. No wonder a 197 bhp Clio Sport can keep up with its lardy Volvo engined ass around a track.
Funny how all the Ford fans think their new Volvo engined RS is the muts nuts. Take a look at the What Car review, the Clio Sport 200 keeps up with it around a track, it can't be that special.
@TheDieselhead1 My 1.9 gti peugot 205 used to keep up with almost everything except an intergrale etc around the twisty bits, so it's no surprise that a small clio can keep up with a Focus RS. Small french hot hatches usually are very chuckable & fun to drive, but if ford can get a big engined focus to keep up with a clio sport 200 around the bends - then they have done a good job.

@Makeshoot I own a Focus ST & have thought of upgrading to an RS, so i'm not anti ford. But a 200 hp clio will stay with an RS around a tight,twisty road/track - i don't doubt it. Power is only good in a straight line & ford should have made the RS 4wd to enable it to live with the evo's & scooby's over any road wet or dry !!!
I fear ford have made it too front heavy for a front wheel drive car to be completely enjoyable, but then again the evo's & scooby's have been getting heavier as well :(

I have a Focus RS and I know how fast it is, but, previously I had a 1.8t engine with a little k03, and I know what a well prepared 1.8t with a k03s or k04 turbo can do... so what happens in the video is actually possible I think. Now, I´m thinking of doing a little things in my RS, up to 375hp aprox (the mine stock delivers 330hp, tested) hehe, then, for sure will be necessary something more than a k04 to follow me ;)
@shiftygijon Recently, I saw how a Focus RS MkII got totally owned in a twisty road by a Mazda MX5 2.0. I was behind the two cars trying to follow them. The Mx5 slowly got away from the Focus (and from me) until the twisties ended where the 300cv could count. I suppose a better drive could have done better, but they were an impressive 5 minutes, man! (I was following in a Scirocco 2.0TSi, could more or less keep with the RS, not with the MX5. Sweating...)

Yeah it is a funny car. You put a bluefin in the RS and your just adding another grand to the already 26K price tag. The video doesnt really have a point other than showing how funny it is keeping up the modern day fast cars with limited budget. Funny. The Rado is only running about 15psi and it is only 1800cc. Small turbo too. The RS sounds sweet now its run in but you got to admit 300bhp and 1.5 tonnes isnt that great. It needs another 50Bhp or so and maybe another two wheels driving it.
Bluefin costs £400 and puts it up to 340bhp, sounds like a bargain to me and thats only an ecu map never mind any other mods like intake and exhaust system. But i get your point, there are so many cars that you can buy for next to nothing that will piss over these cars. But i'm just looking forward to gettin my rs next week :D

The Focus RS for a performance car is CRAP! 301bhp in a car that weighs nearly 1500kg ... erm ... power to weight of 208bhp? Hahhahaha! Absolutely crap. A bloody Mini Works GP is 203bhp per tonne!
I would just like to say that both cars were flat out and my mate in the RS will gladly admit that the corrado is impressive. He was as surprised as anyone else by the speed and still is. Those of you who have not been in a RS (most people) are misguided by all the hype. It is not VERY fast. Its a quick car but it is mainly a car that handles amazingly for fwd. and manages to put the 300hp down with ease. Now please only argue if you are willing to accept that this corrado is a fast car.

Listen mate. For starters the video starts in second gear and my mate in the RS didnt even nail it till 3rd because of the speed camera he was worries about. You have to remember this is my friens in the RS and he is a very good driver. And.... the RS is not faster. That is all that needs to be said. You must have never been in and RS or a corrado 1.8t. 300BHP is not enough to simply make the transmision explode. We backed of fully in the corrado. Do the numbers above not make any sense to you?
Sorry mate but if you listen at the very end you hear someone say 'I backed.....' That was my friend saying he backed off at 'X' speed. I had to cut that bit out. As i said in another text it is another friend of mine in the RS and if you really dont believe it then I would be quite willing to shown you how quick the Corrado is if you are local to me. Its around 260BHP and about 200kg lighter than the focus. Official timed 0-60 is 5.78 seconds. It really is quite funny though. It is a 1.8t....
Actually mate, its another friend of mine in the RS. And no he did not decide to put his foot down tp pull away atall. He was already flat out. It has only done about 800 miles or so.
And if you read the text, the corrado has a 1.8t engine which is not the standard engine tweeked but a totally different engine all together. Think the corrado is about 1200kg.

Also a porche 911 GT3 is a lightweight N/A engined car - developed mainly for track use + it's high revving, fast & not best suited to uk roads.
911 GT2 is a RWD version of the turbo & it's very, very scary & requires great driving skills to handle it.
I love 911's & a ford focus RS does not compare = Nuff said !!!

The RS will need around 8000 miles before its properly "run in" at that point the car will totally open up, try racing it then ;-)

Bluefin costs £400 and puts it up to 340bhp, sounds like a bargain to me and thats only an ecu map never mind any other mods like intake and exhaust system. But i get your point, there are so many cars that you can buy for next to nothing that will piss over these cars. But i'm just looking forward to gettin my rs next week :D

The Focus RS for a performance car is CRAP! 301bhp in a car that weighs nearly 1500kg ... erm ... power to weight of 208bhp? Hahhahaha! Absolutely crap. A bloody Mini Works GP is 203bhp per tonne!

I would just like to say that both cars were flat out and my mate in the RS will gladly admit that the corrado is impressive. He was as surprised as anyone else by the speed and still is. Those of you who have not been in a RS (most people) are misguided by all the hype. It is not VERY fast. Its a quick car but it is mainly a car that handles amazingly for fwd. and manages to put the 300hp down with ease. Now please only argue if you are willing to accept that this corrado is a fast car.

yeah the RS is limited in first and second gear because the power would explode the transmissions and u didnt slow down that much lol the RS is far faster

Listen mate. For starters the video starts in second gear and my mate in the RS didnt even nail it till 3rd because of the speed camera he was worries about. You have to remember this is my friens in the RS and he is a very good driver. And.... the RS is not faster. That is all that needs to be said. You must have never been in and RS or a corrado 1.8t. 300BHP is not enough to simply make the transmision explode. We backed of fully in the corrado. Do the numbers above not make any sense to you?

Sorry mate but if you listen at the very end you hear someone say 'I backed.....' That was my friend saying he backed off at 'X' speed. I had to cut that bit out. As i said in another text it is another friend of mine in the RS and if you really dont believe it then I would be quite willing to shown you how quick the Corrado is if you are local to me. Its around 260BHP and about 200kg lighter than the focus. Official timed 0-60 is 5.78 seconds. It really is quite funny though. It is a 1.8t....

Actually mate, its another friend of mine in the RS. And no he did not decide to put his foot down tp pull away atall. He was already flat out. It has only done about 800 miles or so.

And if you read the text, the corrado has a 1.8t engine which is not the standard engine tweeked but a totally different engine all together. Think the corrado is about 1200kg.
