  • good work. looks cool and not cheesy.

  • @GodStarRevisited69

I'm thankful for that :) My resources were not extensive at the time XD

  • I like the new direction you took with it. It's very interesting, but it does rob the story of some of it's impact. The reveal was a little cheesy. Is he an old man? How is that horrible? Although reading nothing but an old copy of People magazine might give him an unrealistic standard of normalcy, which changes the nature of the story almost entirely, possibly to something more socially relevant and(ironically in your case) more cynical towards society. I enjoyed it, though. 9/10 =)

  • @ometta7

    O_o Long time no see

Um...that's a monster mask, the only one I could afford. He's supposed to be kind of undead I think.

How is it cynical? The magazine shows people (hence the title) and this fellow is not a person anymore, at least a living one. As for exact props, I couldn't afford a castle and shooting it in my library would look too chipper.

Thanks though. I appreciate your candor :)

  • @bloodrunsclear The cynicism that I detected comes from the fact that he's reading a glossy magazine, which would obviously strive to portray the people in them as unnaturally pretty. By him assuming he looks that way also, and being proven wrong due to his reflection, shows that the media creates an unrealistic standard of beauty for people to aspire to, and that such aspirations lead to madness.

It's not extremely cynical, but a close inspection of it reveals a subtle "fuck you" to society.

  • @bloodrunsclear Also, it's good to talk to you again. ^_^ How have you been, my friend?

  • @ometta7

Been quite well :) Still looking for work, but hopefully I might have an interview soon.

Thanks for the concern! How have you been?

  • @bloodrunsclear That's good! =D I hope you get the job.

I've been sick these past few days, and unfortunately this creative drought keeps persisting, but other than that I can't complain much. I joined a rap/metal band and I'm allowed to spit all the sick rhymes about necrophilia and insanity that I please. XD So that's good.

  • @ometta7

    I'm glad you found a niche ^^

I'm sorry you haven't been in tip top shape. Have you been finding time for adequate rest? That can help.

Creative drought? Do you need some creative consultation? :)

  • @bloodrunsclear I've been sleeping almost constantly. I think it's just a cold.

Hmm... Maybe. I've never had anybody to really bounce ideas off of except Curtis, and his crazy-ass ideas rarely pan out because they're too unstable to sustain themselves.

  • But he suppoed to be inside the rotten castle with a big library.

  • @videotitan1

    Refer to previous statement.

    I live in Seattle and castles are hard to come by ^^;

  • Excellent job

  • Although not excactly like the Outsider by Lovecraft, very well done

  • @gunni449

    I couldn't afford a castle XD

  • It seems that the most of commentators are familiar to work of lovecraft and they are filing more than satisfied..

I like too the whole atmosfere of scary lonelynes at the unknown and dangerous world.

    good work

  • When i first read this I thought the narrator was in a room, and i ended up thinking he was a mummy-like in a pyramid. True story.

  • Masterfully done and very good adaptation of the story!

  • Great work! I really like the atmosphere in this film, it really adds to the horrific nature. Also, The Outsider is one of my favorites stories from H.P Lovecraft!

  • Nothing captures true horror and despair more than real film. I hate how horror movies these days are always shot in digital or something crisp and clear. Film is much more effective, in my opinion.

  • This is one of the based short adaptations of the story I have seen. It captures the atmosphere perfectly.

  • This is brilliant and very effective. Thanx for sharing.

  • Thank you :)

    I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • Simply amzing, so well captured.

  • Thank you!

H.P is oddly under-appreciated in films it seems to me.

  • Personally think this is one of his most beautiful pieces of work. Thank you for bringing more light into his dark and lonely world. He is one of my best . I think each person can identify with this story. sometimes feeling alone and betrayed by the cosmos , feeling like the outsider. It makes me humble and i realize how human i am.

  • This is a wonderful rendition of Lovecraft's short story. You captured the feel of the setting that I get when reading it. :)

  • you did wel i see whar you had to devert from the novulo but you treed it well and held loyul to hp love crafts true vison and mening all in all nice work

  • brilliant!

  • Very good! I am so happy that I found this!

I love H.P. Lovecraft's works and this is actually the first one I read!

  • Thanks for watching, and i'm glad you enjoyed my rendition :)

  • Wonderful. It is so difficult to do a good visual interpretation of Lovecraft´s tales that I think this is really good. A family work I see, but better than a lot of professional movies I´ve seen

  • Excellent work! "The Outsider" is my favorite of all Lovecraft's work and this was a great adaptation of it! The music was so right on and the look of the film was reminiscent of The Blair Witch Project, giving you that "creepy in the woods feel" again. Great job! I hope the film won an award of some sort.

  • Terrific work. Very impressive indeed.

  • why didnt u do the part when he was walking up the staircase to the tower?

  • I didn't have a stair case, a tower, or a budget! I spent all 20$ I had to my name to buy the mask :P

  • I added that to my favorites...I loved it man, really i did, i felt so much passion in this story, so much feeling in the acting, it was a true piece of art, I only have one suggestion. Next time, work with the camera angles, try a close up on the side of him, or lay the camera to the ground and do him stepping over it. Remember a good video needs a good view. Other then that, It was pure greatness!

  • Wow...thank you!

Yes, next time I'll definately need a tri-pod to keep the camera stready, and your shot idea is a good one too. Would have been a nice break from all the medium and wide shots to have a few low angle shots :P

I'm very glad you liked this work :)

  • I just noticed your nice use of HL2 Music. I again will comment on your movies thematic similarity to Nosferatu, which is a good thing. Why did you use people magazine in this film, it kind of breaks the the flow of the movie a little bit, possibly you could make it difficult to determine the nature of the periodical. Good makeup work as well.

  • Originally it was a library that the Outsider read from (because originally he was in a castle rather then a forest). Glad you liked it, but don't credit me for makeup. That's actually a really great mask I found in a costume shop :)

  • A good deal of making good costumes is getting the right stuff. Also could you tel me which of Lovecraft's short story collection I could find the outsider in?

  • There's a new compilation out with a cover by Mike Mignola (!) called Tales from H.P. Lovecraft. That's where I got it.
