This is my favorite movie, cuz it shows reality, and I'm fascinated by super heros. And Jackie is a GREAT actor, Rorschach wouldn't have been Rorschach without him. And yeah, pretty eyes heheh 1:29
It doesn't hold any punches, that's what I like to see in a movie. Its not the predictable good v.s. evil...good wins. It has a story to it and its not a pretty one at that. THIS is a super hero movie!
The problem with the film is that for Snyder to actually make the movie, it had to somehow generate sales. Snyder did his best to stick to the source material, but Watchmen is deep to the point where the mainstream viewers won't like it if it was done perfectly. I'd praise Snyder because he had certainly done his best. It's a a WHOLE LOT better than all the other scripts that were drafted, some of which had the usual Hollywood Happy Ending.
@snakesfinnimore Agreed, the sex scene was supposed to be intentionally awkward and ironic, and if it had went any other way I would have been disappointed that Snyder had missed the point of it happening in the GN entirely, and went for cheap fanservice. There is an interview with Patrick Wilson that discusses it, and its significance to their characters, in fact. In the GN it was certainly as important as any of the other details and symbolism that Alan Moore used.
in the graphic novel it says that roarschach found a piece of this material in an old textile factory i think. the mask is made (in the novel) of two pieces of latex with ink inbetween them. thats why it can move
I completely LOVED the movie, especially Rorshach and his awesomeness. lol At first i was like "he's evil." but proved me wrong. That's why I like him. He's actually nice but doesn't like showing it. lol JEH did an awesome job.
I hate the way people keep using the word "psychopath" on Rorschach without knowing what it means... psychopaths are charming narcissists who manipulate people to suit their own ends with no regard for morality, often victimizing others simply for their own enjoyment (the Joker in Dark Knight is a perfect example), whereas Rorschach has a very definite moral code which he adheres to "even in the face of Armageddon". True, he's disconnected from reality, but he's not a psychopath or a sociopath.
Agreed. He's even refered to in the movie as a sociopath, but sociopaths only do things for themselves. They don't give a damn about anything or anyone else. Rorschach did what he did for others. He knew the difference between right and wrong
most psychiatrists agree that psychopathy and sociopathy are essentially two different terms for the same thing (antisocial personality disorder)
some say these two terms are different subcategories of ASPD and psychopathy is more hereditary than sociopathy, but it's generally agreed upon that they are very (if not completely) similar
either way, rorschah is neither a sociopath nor a psychopath (nor does he have antisocial personality disorder)
" Researcher Robert Hare, whose Hare Psychopathy Checklist is widely used, describes psychopaths as "intraspecies predators who use charisma, manipulation, intimidation, and violence to control others and to satisfy their own needs. " you dont think rorschach uses violence to satisfy his personal need for a just world? although you're right in that rorschach was not born this way and is in such not a psychopath, he seems like a good candidate for generalizes ASPD, hes as malevolent antisocial
but its true, you could argue that rorschach is the most clear and rational of the watchmen, but you could also claim otherwise. hes such a little enigma
he's not really disconnected in reality. and he is a sociopath, but not in the way most people assume....he's a sociopath in that he's quite paranoid and he will go to extreme lengths doing what he feels morally is right.
Yeah. It was from the Directors Cut when he breaks into the crime scene of the Comedians house to check things out and the cops come back cause they heard him, and he knocks one out before doing this cool batman like dissapearing trick out a window!
the people saying this is a bad movie, are so wrong, probably they were expecting another spider-man 3. For them a boring movie is when the characters talk for more than 2 minutes. Jeeezz maybe they don't even read books with serious themes. The world is not a colorfull rainbow. I'm going to the movies to watch stories of any genre, not just happy or naive stories. people who hate this film are the usual g-force audience or transformers 2 audience.
@winki70 agreed i never read the comic but my friend did and he hated the movie... so i think i'm lucky that i didn't read it, this really is one of my favourite movies. It show an alternate reality, but one that still could've happened.
Dislike. I love ALL movies but not this one. Thats cos I owned the book b4 I saw the movie and by 2008 I'd read Watchmen 5x. I felt Snyder didn't have the depth necessary to really carry the source material.
@StigRossi Without sounding rude, he wasn't referring to you. I simply LOVE the graphic novel. Its my favorite book of all time. Ever. But I also love the film. It sone of my favorite ever and to me, both, especially the film which I saw before the novel gave off really deep themes.
Well I'm glad you liked it, and I know he wasn't referring to me mate , i ws jst butting in :P
Frankly, Snyder's treatment of Watchmen has me worried about Superman.
Oh, and to prove my point, Snyder sed he thot comix wer ghey cos he was into sports and girls, until his mom gve him 1 in hi scool and he realized there was sex in them, and then he thought them awsum. Cos, y'know, its impossible to be into comix, sports AND girls  Snyder is like those jock idiots in hi scl
@StigRossi Would you mind using complete words? Please? :-)
Anyway, how he treated Watchmen actually makes me looking forward to MOS. He stave off executive meddling during filming and it SHOWWS that Snyder really did care and that everyone else did the wole film with love. To me, all the actors (except the one who played Silk Spectre) were perfectly cast, even Matthew Goode who, while not the bodybuilder from the comics really did give a good performance.
I did use complete words, but had to go back and re-edit for length due to this idiotic character count limit.
Rorschach was amazing, and I even liked Dr. Manhattan. However there were moments, like the idiotic love making scene set to Hallelujah, and Rorschach's breaking out of prison with waay too much pointless fighting that took away from the film. I'm hopeful about MOS but not optimistic. Snyder is no Nolan, but thankfully Nolan is overseeing MOS so hopefully it'll b good
I fell in love with Rorshach.

True, Rorscach did know the dichotomy of good and evil--in a strictly absolutionist manner, that is.
