The style is good. What I don't like is how they sell instructor kits for thousands of dollars for just one weekend and you are a master. This is bull!
I thought the same, but the main target in a fight for an untrained opponent is the head as it is where the senses and balance can be broken down most easily... KFM is a revolutionary style, but what if you're fighting a kickboxer?:) The most important aspect of martial arts is adaptability
I don't think this style is really effective !!! In a real fight you can't just cover your head !!! Ur lower body would be exposed for kicks and more!!!! That's why kfm is not a style I would train!!
This is a close combat style. When you use this guard, you're out of range of kicks. You use it to guard your face while you move into close range and take them out. Once there, you can control their upper body fairly easily. Sure they could drop down for some body shots but that leaves the back of their head exposed. Its an effective style, but you have to see it for what it is.
@m2orrego U're wrong! U don't cover just your head and there are a lot of techniques for defensing your body from a middle kick while attacking at the same time. I tried a lot of martial arts in my life but NONE works like Keysi in a real situation.
Why so skeptical? People are too harsh. I've trained for years, got several ranks, some black belts, been doing this my whole life. KFM is solid, stop trying to convince yourself otherwise just so you don't have to do the non-lazy thing and actually go out and TRY it. I'm halfway through the ranks, still looking up. You watch a vid and judge an entire SYSTEM based on your fears, insecurities, and cognitive biases you place on them. Any dissenters actually ever try it? No? didn't think so.
I'm starting to dig this system and looking for a place to train in, but I prefer the guard we use in Krav Maga because even though it leaves your head open for attack what you loos in head protection you gain in spatial awareness and you can quickly use your hands and arms for protection, or at least that's the way I see it. Still, I'm digging those elbow hits! Pretty brutal stuff.
putting your hands in your head will not prottect from the pain of the hits in yout back. I say this because in a demonstration of "how to fight with many people" the theacher received many hits in his back. He was certainly prottected by Pensador guard, but the rest of his body was free and bear a several punishment. In a demonstration with light strikes you can do this, but if in a real fight all your skill to fight against a group is to move in Pensador, you've got a problem.
@davichuuuu Pensador is only the tip of iceberg. u have to watch over your nose. :) I do keysi and i see my instructor in a 4vs1 situation. He doesn't receive a hit and moving faster your body is all protected! ;)
Uhhhhh why is Jeet Kune Do up there lol? You guys must be referring to Jun Fan Gung Fu, because essentially Keysi=JKD. There are no set techniques in each of them, there is only what works in a street situation.
will you shut the fuck up please? Stop spamming your retarded question on every single KFM video on youtube. IT'S NOT MOTHERFUCKING MUAY THAI, NOW SHUT THE HELL UP!
Is it just me or is this one of their worse promo's?

When you're fighting a untrained fighter in the street, based from experience they don't kick.
It doesn't register for them.
MeAlchX 2 years ago
@MeAlchX from my experiences they have tried kicking me and in other fights have kicked others although they weren't high ones just unskilled.

When you are fighting multiple attackers you will get hit somewhere. I'd take the back over the face/neck any day.

Elbows, or hellbows are one of the body's most devastating weapons. Used effectively, they can cause massive amounts of damage.

elbow use for defense-offensive looks interesting. But I only have one question. Is there a sparring video of people using keysi fighting?
AgentCell 2 years ago
If only there was a magic method for self-defence....but as there isn't, there is just one way: learn to f@ckin' fight!
Getting cute with your elbows won't help.

"Getting cute with your elbows won't help."
Smashing someone in the face or the side of the head with your elbow will however.

what do they do against weapons that extend the range of the adversary. Sticks, bats, golf clubs, axes, sledge hammers, staffs etc.
thechoreographer 3 years ago
same thing karate and all other martial arts teach you. RUN!
you are protected with your elbows around the head and because you are in adrenaline you can take a blow no problem.
naniekso 3 years ago
in KFM you learn to defend yourself against weapons too.
