  • Just go to System Preference > Trackpad > Tap to Click and then it would be just like a PC

  • tap to click, problem solved.

  • activate tap for clicking...problem solved

  • I dont see why there is such an issue with the "loud trackpad" on the new MBP's. I own a early 2009 with the same trackpad. I agree the click is more audible than the other models shown here. But I believe the point of the multi-touch function trackpad is the ability to use for it's TAP to click functions. Thus eliminating ALL sound for clicking.

  • 0.o mine not loud :/

  • Yah, i have used both mac and PC and can honestly say that PC takes the cake on touch pads. The new macbook shows promise with the multifinger functions, but any of the single finger functions it has, PC has been doing for years. Also, on most PC's, if you want to click quickly, you just tap. no pressing down and no click. just a quick tap. It is very convenient and completely silent. just in case you wanted to know :)

  • Just got a MacBook Pro a couple of months ago. Lover everything about it apart from the battery runs out amazingly quickly and the loud trackpad is very loud.

  • to be honest I think this just proves how good these machines are.

If the best thing you can find to complain about them is that the trackpad makes a little bit of noise then I think they did quite well in designing it. :-P

  • sounds like a telegraph machine :P

  • hahaha ! great great video. completly agree.

  • eres un ridiculo kejon sangano si te molesta no lo aprietes cambialoo el los settings y si no entiendes lo q te digo traducelo en google translate :P

  • It's nice, i love that sound;)mhhhhh.MBP

  • It is possible to turn the macbook pro trackpad into a tap clicker where you can tap to open and close documents etc. Go the SystemPrefs, trackpad, and lick the tap box, Works alot better and is very quiet.

  • Yes, the new trackpad can do everything you can on the normal once, even drag and drop there is the normal way of holding down and use another finger to drag, or you can even hold down and jsut move that finger!

  • Drum solo!!!

  • cmon there not that loud

  • OCD, totally.

  • my gateway M-series laptop makes even more noise than that!

    i have an iBook G4 too...dont freak out...im not a pc fan

  • I think he might be trying to play the "MacBook Blues" by drumming on them trackpads!

  • I use a bluetooth mighty mouse.

  • WTF?! Get a life!

    Who cares?!

  • I think the ending was the best song I ever heard :P LOL

  • buy a mouse

  • I use the Tap Funktion of the Pad (with 2 Fingers Tap for Alternate Funktion). It's faster and works like a charm.

  • I concur, although I primarily use a mouse...VX Revolution all the way baby!

  • what the point of this video plss email and tell me!!!

  • You need help,

    but proper help ,

not going home and crying over your mac book pro while watching diper porn

get yourself a nice fat whore

and a nice psychiatrist oh and while you're at it you might as well kill yourself...

  • damnn dude, you need some love?

  • damn, people need to get a life here

  • i love this song!!!

  • You're a real real fruitcake idiot! This clicking sound is really driving you crazy huh? It gets in your head so you had to make a video about it. Can you sleep at night?

Now lets make a comparison between clicking and tapping sounds. See the point? Why are you still clicking then freak?

  • I'm so happy that I got the last version of the 'old style' MBPs.

The new MBPs with their glossy display, strange black frame around the screen and now the mouse pad clicking noise..... they look and sound like my cheap old PC notebook.

  • sounds like a type writer... its really not that bad though

  • sounds like HAPPY FEET!!!

  • "durr hurr i care about the fact taht the click is slightly louder i also have aspergers"

  • this alone will be the reason i'm not going to buy one...way too obnoxiously loud

  • I was pretty annoyed by the loud click, too (as well as my girlfriend). But I just changed my System Preferences (trackpad- and check one finger "tap for click") to allow for very easy (and useful) clicking....with absolutely no sound. You don't have to go dissecting your Mac. Hope this helps.

  • What you COULD do is take the battery out and put a few pieces of tissue paper under the trackpad so it the click is muffled =3

  • is it jus me..or is my new macbook alluminum trackpad a bit loud...especially the right click area..on the bottom right corner!

  • that is an awesome demonstration. answered all my questions, thanks.

  • pschesler-yes that's the screw, I took it out and couldn't get it back in (damaged threads?) so I used a screw from an old alarm clock, but it's too big ,but it's the only one I could find that would fit in. The trackpad more loud and doesn't click right ,it feels stiff so I have to press really hard.

  • pchesler-I tried that now my battery sticks out and the lid wont shut,so when I move my Mac it keeps falling out!! I,e fixed it though by duct taping it up. I'm sticking with suede and tape,on the trackpad, just tuck your fingers under it when your not clicking.

  • paulpppart -- thats odd. You should not be adjusting anything that can possibly affect the battery. The said screw is recessed to it shouldn't interfere with the battery. Are you sure you are adjusting the correct screw? Its head is a distinct Y shape and its right under the front of the trackpad.

  • Folks, this is easy to fix on your own. I had the same problem. There is an adjustment screw which is accessible by removing the battery. Its directly below the trackpad and instead of a phillips shape, its "triangular." Its very distinct and once you've removed the battery you cannot miss it. A simple twist of this screw adjusts the pressure required to activate the trackpad. Less pressure = less noise. Turn right to DECREASE pressure.

  • Anyone experiencing these issues with their new glass track pad can simply lay a sheet of clean, soft suede over it to smother any sound issues (it feels nice and soft too)

But nan even better alternative If you don't have suede, especially, is to download the app that turns your phone into a trackpad for your Apple and then you don't even need to be close to your Apple because it uses Apple's Bluetooth network.

  • dude^^

you get really violent towards the end. give the new MBP a break^^ i somehow do get ur point, but this is a disturbing way of presenting your opinion to us^^is the click sound really a problem for u?

  • sorry, but, what's your problem actually?!?!? (really...)

  • The click noise on the new MBP is at least 2x louder than my old MBP. It also produces a higher tone that sounds like cheap plastic flexing.

  • ah, allright... that wouldn't bother me that much... actually the glossy screen is my main concern as i'm wondering now what will i upgrade my one year old MBP to in the future? i've seen cheaper mirrors... how bad is it in real life?

  • Totally dependent on lighting. Seated by a window, it can be very bad with direct sunlight, but totally unnoticeable with overcast skies. The new screen is brighter however.

  • the problem is it's annoying...and yeah i have macbook pro the current model ....i like everything about it..but the trackpad noise is a bit annoying u know...but it's not a big deal

  • same problem here ...

and waiting for solutions because it's really LOUD on my brand new one day old MacBookPro :(

  • @Aibalblog

i see yours method to make it quiet with Kleenex, can you make a video please, its difficult to imagine this....

  • same problem here.

    i help me self:

i rember me the solution in the old macbook´s, trackpad problem.

now i position a small piece of paper between the battery and trackpad, now it is quiet.

  • Wow thanks! Actually loud click annoys me for no reason. :\

  • So, they took away the matte display option and FW400 port to replace them with the sound of a typewriter?

    Sounds like a fair deal!

  • My 3 year old iBook G4 makes a louder noise than that.

    Why does it matter?

  • good job

  • i own a 1st gen blacbook and there is no way i can make the trackpad button to make such a noticeable noise, no matter how hard i try....only the space key makes some noise but totally reasonable. i wonder how you made to make all three of them sound like that!

  • harisdmac:

The MBP's are simply louder, but the new MBP is the loudest by far!

  • why would you make this video????
