Ohhhh quick question for you *I know this may sound ridiculously dumb, and please don't laugh* but what kind of wheels are those that you have on those? I remember way back when the REALLY sharp Camaro's, Nova's, Cuda's, Chevelle's and Stang's among many others of those days having those kinds of wheels, and I've always thought that they were just slick as can be. Very "clean" looking yet...meaner than snot and aggresive =)
@Mathemaetica Not dumb at all. I too always loved the classic old school rim looks, but they are discontinued. I was lucky enough to find a genuine set of 80's Cragar Superlites, with the blue center caps on Ebay. The rears are actually Welds, and have no center caps. The red plastic bolt hole fillers are still available through Summit Racing. Glad you like the classic Pro Street look as much as I do!
What is it doing now, any issues? My twin turbo '69 Electra GSX blew the torque converter, we think. It had all the good stuff and was rated for 1,000 lb-ft. It will go back to Edge who warranteed it. 1st was always weak and died after the last power pass.
@snowman4839 It used to be that twins would generally spool faster than a large single. It is more of a leftover from early days of tractor turbo experiments. With modern turbos, a single will support just as much power, boost and rapid spool as twins. Generally, it is easier to fit 2 small turbos in the engine bay than one big one though. That is why I went with 2. Contrary to my sarcastic "one is never enough" blurb in the video.
@snowman4839 i was just reading about this the other day, sometimes they'll run two dffernt sized turbos in hopes to build some pressure fast then have the big boy come in and realy push the pressure up. if this is true, idk.
i need some advise i have a stock 460 in a mustang can i put a f350 power stroke turbo on my 460 and how do u decide when to retard time or advance pls need some advice thanks keep up the good work
Nice work man, I have been watching the vids of this beast for a while, I own a 71 skylark that has a 350 in it. This probaly wont make any sense but I was wondering if you could put the kit on my engine, or sell the whole engine with the kit, like the engine with all the mods and what not that you have in yours. Please let me know a price. Very interested.
when you do please contact me, I have a 72 Skylark that I plan to put a Chevy 406 cid twin turbo setup in it, I have the turbo chargers already so I'll just need the plumbing and cooler.
Hey, I remember you from reading the V8 Buicks Forum. It's dang fast huh? I had an idea over 10 years ago to put this combo in a G-body Regal. What would you suppose a more radical cam profile would do to it's Turbo performance? A sales rep at NW Buick told me that John Lingenfelter made a roller cam in the late 70's for the Buick 350.
Are the turbo's those cheap China Garrett knockoffs? Are these included your kit? If they are I would recommend selling Garretts or other name brand turbo. I own a Turbocharger rebuild company and I constantly see them come in, what poor quality.
you guys are idiots.. what does it matter, its forced induction, turbos are better then superchargers anyways..though if i were to go s/c it'd be twin screw
Currently I've only been running 8psi. Forged pistons, better rods, ARP studs and rod bolts, block girdle, o-ring block and copper head gaskets are plans for the next one along with 15-20psi of boost.
Yep, that's the one. It's been narrowed over 14 inches, but the stock wheelwells were retained like a minitub, just really wide! Sorry, nothing for Olds yet. I'm doing a buddy's 455 Olds convertible soon though!
plumbing probably looks so small because of all the space under the hood. it an optical illusion. - at least thats my theory.
sweet skylark man. i've been wanting one. im in high school and im completely broke but i saw one online thats nearby that could go for maybe $2000-$2500 so i've started saving up. well, nice setup. good luck on ur future upgrades.
I don't know what it puts out for sure but at the boost I've been running it should be about 450-500HP. I have another engine that is going to be built for more serious boost and should put out 700. I sell the twin turbo kit if you are interested.
is your hood glass lift off? i have a 70 skylark that really needs a light lift off hood
82thetots 4 months ago
@82thetots Yep, pin on hood from VFN Fiberglass. It only weighs around 9lbs.
Flapding 4 months ago
@Flapding k thanks i got a blower scoop on mine but the dam hood is all steel so i really need to get that, thanks.

what's the point of twin turbos? I mean unless your running like 40+psi. Does it create desired psi twice as fast as a single?

how can i buy one of your turbo kits ? how much ?
bigel305 1 year ago
Why not inter-cool it? Still looks really good.

Send me message either through YouTube, or hit me up on myspace under Burton Machine. I don't like to discuss the details of the kits here. Thanks!

where can i buy a turbo kit like that for my skylark??
Chevenitsu 2 years ago
i thought turbos worked on the exhaust manifolds thos look more like prochargers
importssuckazz 2 years ago
You are correct, turbos run off the exhaust, prochargers run off belts. If you look carefully you will see the piping, and no belts.

Are we talking 8psi per turbo or 8psi total? I have seen your thread on the Buick board and am very interested in your kit.
larknut 4 years ago
8psi at the carb, or total. I have listed the turbo kit on ebay to make it easy for people who are not V8 Buick members to see and purchase.
Thanks!

You can see the turbo kit I sell on my website on myspace. It's under Burtonmachine.

non intercooled? ever gonna?
looks badass! and i dont really even like 'muscle" lol.

No intercooler in the future. Likely a progressive water/methanol injection when boost gets to 15psi though.

Which plumbing? The outlet plumbing is the same size as the turbo outlets, and the exhaust is 3" mandrel bent.

plumbing probably looks so small because of all the space under the hood. it an optical illusion. - at least thats my theory.

Yes the cam is pretty tame. It is a Poston 114 cam. I also run a lot of initial timing, around 20°, which helps settle the lope down.
Flapding 4 years ago
nice...you should of had a going "around the block " video...
cant wait ...
