yep cuz you cant make a single mistake in time trails and you gotta go as fast as you can and try to make the course as short as possible you gotta do all that in 3 laps

I thought so too, but it took quite a bit of work. Specifically after the bridge in manual, you could do another wheelie.. in auto it's quite hard.

I think things always look slower in auto :p

Just to add (as it wasn't mentioned), only karts get the blue (regular) and red (super) mini-turbos. Bikes only get regular ones, because you have the wheelie for extra speed. Hope this helped too. Automatic lefts you drift faster and sharper which sometimes CAN be quicker than a regular mini-turbo...

Manual means that you decide if you want to drift or not. When drifting in manual, it is possible to get blue or red mini turbos. Automatic puts the game in charge of drifting for you. However, you will not receive mini turbos.
