  • mmmm hmmmmm

  • Very good!!! What scales?

  • ye he he he yes it does add a new dimension genius

  • gypsy le chien , brigitte fossey et saskia

  • what kind of picks is he using?

  • I wanna see him use that last fret on the b and e strings.

  • Too much fingers... :-D

  • is there any possibility to get the tabs or progression im just starting off on gypsy jazz and would love the rhythm guitar section if possible or anything really

  • @williummm Search for gypsy backing tracks and one channel has them with chord progressions displayed in the video...the melody you should be able to figure yourself ;)

  • what guitar is this?

  • @rafapak i believe its a selmer maccaferri, probably early 50s, if its legit. i know there's only like 1000 left since the 40s and 50s. since then selmer has made a bunch of similar models but the maccaferri was the original model with the "D hole" and the 24th fret extension

  • SICK!

  • is it true that whenever you change string picking , it is always a down stroke ?

  • @guitarsalert That's the general rule. Sometimes an upstroke is more efficient, though.

  • Joscho Stephan is worth a look to :-)

    Cheers,

    Gary

  • muy bueno, tendras la tablatura para este tema.saludos

  • tabs?

  • sounds really nice! but i think there is too much reverb in the mix and it needs more deffinition, but really awesome!

  • Subscribed to your channel - I love Gypsy Jazz. Question, are those Grado headphones? I recognise the splitter there... I am curious now :-P

  • @looseunitaaw Very observant mate, yes they are and they are the best sounding headphones I have ever used. Cheers Leigh

  • @looseunitaaw geek

  • absolutely perfect. sounds amazing. great looking guitar

  • where can we get tabs or dots?

  • It's ear plugs or headphones?

  • Hi, Great sound! How to find tha track for the gipsy style?

  • sounds great

  • brilliant. im trying to learn this from the video. 1st section is going ok, but that 2nd section, no chance. Any chance of some tabs ????

  • fucking great!

  • beautiful, love it

  • i met this guy

  • Oh, that was beautiful! Are you wearing gloves while playing??

  • no that would be hard man

  • Exquisite!

  • Great playing, i invite everyone to see some friends, new jazz & blues uploads, subscribe :)

  • don't you think its a bit unsporting to play using all the fingers on your left hand?

    i kid, i kid.

    =P

  • good joke... ya dickhead

  • wow, cool it man. if you knew anything about Django Reinhardt (where the song gets its name), you'd know that he was famous for playing using only 2 fingers on his left hand. so yeah, it actually was a good joke.

  • @Geist40 HA HA that's funny

  • @Geist40 Django n'avait pas tout ces doigts

  • This truly is fantastic!!! Not enough of this stuff played live!!!

  • Krakow is all very nice if you like eating cabbage all day!

  • uhh impresive, nice composition!

I invite you to my hometown, Kraków ;)

  • In fact, it makes a change to actually HEAR some reverb in the music we play today. Reverb adds a whole new dimension to the music.

  • My 12 years old son is learning the guitar. I wish one day he can play like that!

  • Aaaw.. I wish I had a son. (I'm only 17 though.. XD )

  • Amazing! love it

  • Beautiful playing. And a very very beautiful guitar

  • Dude that's just crazy. Awesome playing!

  • too much reverb man ;)

  • This guy..Leigh Jackson..is a talented picker...I have just bought his CD Parallex..A very Hip Offering of Modern Jazz...so he covers both worlds of Guitar Playing..WORD..!!

  • Do you use a factory setting guitar?

  • Wanderful jazztube!

  • sorry,i can't read what you are saying, i don't know why...

  • Sorry I wrote it in New Zealand language. Yes this is the Gitane D-500, very cheap but excellent value.

    Cheers

    Leigh

  • @jazztube besides value, what other comments would you have for this guitar

  • yeah i bought one about a month ago and i'm really impressed.your playing is excellent i like your sound very much.which do you think is the best way to amplify this guitar?

  • I put a Bigtone pickup on this one, good for low volume, best to use a mic for bigger venues.

    L

  • thanks,keep playing :-)

  • He just wrote it upside down and backwards :)

  • @jazztube haha that's not new zealand language. that's just upside down. haha awesome

  • Yeah, you're such a despot of the fret, Leigh.. if that is even your real name. You're a no good guitar playing trickster.

  • Ok, I'll come clean, it is all CGI, I can't even play the guitar. Hey I'd better not say this, someone will believe it and ask how I did it....I've been called a few things but that describes me perfectly....

    cheers

    Despot of the fret

  • No way, I don't even think that's a real guitar. I can smell a sham when I see it. Boo to you Leigh Jackson for attempting to trick us all. Take heed people, don't let this despot of the fret take command over your imagination. He's a fraud, a trickster, a charlatan, and a downright no good video speeder-upper.

  • I can't tell if your joking or not... it's pretty funny if you are, but I'm also aware of how many nut bags are roaming around on youtube. I'm totally going to start calling Leigh "Despot of the fret" ...classic..

  • Yeah, that was total BS from the get go. And don't worry, I'm not a roaming-nut-bag, or any variety there of.

  • Where i can find the tabs ???????PLLLeeaaseee!!!

  • learn to play.

  • Well done. Do you primarily play the gypsy jazz style?

  • What guitar is that?

  • Do you mean I recorded it and sped up the video to make it look faster?

  • I am pretty sure that is exactly what Safarityler means.

  • this is for the pillock who says this is sped up... the playing here is nothing short of excellent... It never ceases to amaze me how many ppl, upon seeing genuine talent, think its 'fake' just because they don't possess the talent themselves. IF you want to see even faster gypsy jazz... search youtube for Joscho Stephan... unreal speed... and.. erm NOT fake!...

  • It's not sped up nimrod. Check the tuning if your small pea sized half a brain can figure that one out...lol

  • ...oh my...

  • know i'm smoking a cigarette , drink wiskhey , read one of my favourite books, but this music takes me over my self

even nicotine, alcohol and books can't resist , love that manouche style

  • wow, "drinkING" "wHiskey" "readING" ... I have no clue what "takes me over my self (myself)" means. The commas are also confusing. I think you should review this a few times and resend it because its some of the most confounding text I've ever come across on youtube. Nice try though!

  • Where i can find the tabs ???????.AAAMAAZIINNG!!!!

  • I love this style soooo much. The phrasing is great!

  • I love this song, but I can't find a tab anywhere, any ideas? Or would I have to learn it by ear?

  • have fun learnin by ear...there's two guitars goin

  • You could always go buy the sheet music :)

  • Yeah, but wo wants to by the music when you can get it for free =]

  • I actually thought this was Django for a moment before noting the finger work. Truly great.

  • good work

  • Nailed. Great job.

  • Music :)

  • Sounds good to my earhole.

  • i love django!!!! great !!!!

  • So great, thanks for sharing!

  • This really channels the master's sound. Close my eyes, and I hear Django. Excellent work, Mr Jackson!

  • It is so wonderful to hear this gentlemans art on youtube - his talent is an inspiration to so many.

Music comes the heart, and you can hear it with every pluck of the string!

Thank you - a pleasure to listen to!

    Oprey Roma!

  • I love it. ^^ Very pleasant to the ears.

  • exxcelent

  • Beautiful!

  • not christ but very very good, awesome even! LOVE your videos sir. K.I.A[CHAN]

  • Django Was Christ.

  • Sorry about the spelling mistake!

  • This IS Django Jazz Giutar!!!!!

  • it seems to be a gitane d-500! beautiful guitar by the way!!

  • what kind of guitar is he playing? ive been looking for one similar to it and havent yet been able to find one.....oh yeah awesome piece great player.

  • Macaferri a la django or a decent copy.

  • Gitane D-500

  • Are you sure? It seems that his guitar has got nylon strings, which is very rare in Gypsy style.

  • what's thats supposed te mean!!?

  • "12er strings break your fingers" ?

  • Hi Leigh,

I'm an old Djangophile and frequent visitor to Samois. Loved you piece. Well done !

    Dan Morgan

  • are you emmet ray

  • I agree totally with SleepyGypsy's comments, which is not to say I wish I could play as well.

  • how can you possibly memorize all that, OMG

  • NIce Maccaferi

  • so this is an original composition? very nice!

  • What's the name of this song ?

  • Its called Django's Caravan, it says that right above the clip -.-

  • why cant people just read the video description or even the name for hell sakes to find what they're looking for instead of asking stupid ass questions in the comments?!?!?!?

  • the emmet ray comment is a joke! not a stupid question

  • Once again this guy rings true with another fine example of the gypsy jazz style. exquisitely performed. i've learned more from watching these quality audio/videos recently than i have in the last decade. thank you. more please.

  • That's nice! Thanks for the post.

  • is this guitar nylon Maccaferri or steel string Maccaferri??

  • Steel. Savarez Argentines 11 gauge.

    Best

    Leigh

  • amazing... i wish there were more people like Django to play his music with the same passion he had.

  • Great!!!

Added to the youtube group "Selmer"

  • I thought I recognized those fingers. Hey Leigh! What you been up to?

  • very very nicely done.

  • Wonderfull!

  • he says my composition in the description.

  • All I can say right now is, Wow!

  • Now everybody just imagine playing them with only your 1st and 2nd fingers and ocasionally a 3rd to form certain chords. That how good Django was. Great tribute!

  • Did he really only play with his 1st and 2nd fingers? How is that possible?

  • Well when he his hand was burned the doctors thought about cutting it off, but somepeople realized that he had an amazing talent and passion for the guitar and banjo. So even though his hand was 3rd and 4th fingers were paralyze he was able to use his 1st and 2nd after a long, painful rehabilitation process and could used his 3rd fingers for certain chords. Really amazing stuff.

  • That is great! I never knew that. He is one of the most original charasmatic guitar players to ever live, and he did it with 2 or 2 1/2 fingers? That is awsome! I 1st got into him after watching "Sweet and Lowdown" w/ Sean Penn. I hate Woody Allen movies, but this was a great movie.

  • Just youtube django, to see some of his clips.

    ..../watch ?v=Ek5 kUOx P5CQ

    He was really amazingly talented.

What he achieved with only 2 fingers...can most people not even accomplish with 5.

  • He has 3 fingers :)

  • I think he got 8 fingers :)

  • he only had use for soloing with his index finger and his middle finger, while he could chord abit with his ring and pinky fingers. the tendons shrank after he was in a fire. he almost lost the use of his leg but they were able to save it, in a matter of 18 months django developed the style that made he renown all over the world. dude read up on your facts before making a statement like that.

  • I'd just like to add Romane to your list of great jazz guitarist. And you rock!

  • nice tune.

  • interesting

  • Hey, Check out bye bye blues, you stuff is an inspiration!

  • Lindo!! Queria ir embora nessa caravana!!

  • Interesting guitar, how the fingerboard sticks absurdly over the soundhole, but frickin amazing sound, and playing.

  • nice, but you cannot use all of your fingers to play django...

  • Well with that logic he should travel back in time, burn some fingers, incarnate django's body, and then you'd have some other criticism...he's not trying to be Django, dude

  • That one definately takes the cake for tonight! I'll be laughing in my dreams. Was the humor intended?

  • i love how that guitar truly resembles django's guitar.

  • That Was A gReat sound! good stuff man!!

  • where can I find the chords behind that music

  • hey josh go to "Gypsy Jazz Guitar Resource"

lots of chord progressions for these songs

  • Very nice!

  • Great!!!!

  • Great!! But Caravan's by the Duke.

  • Erm, do you actually know 'Caravan'? It sounds nothing like this for instance it's in 4/4. This is an original tune by the artist represented above.

  • The comment below is intended for woshushe who posted a comment that the tune played here isn't 'Caravan' by Duke Ellington. Surely it's obvious that this is a new piece, written by jazztube, which he has named 'Django's Caravan'. It's not intended to be the original piece by Duke Ellington.

  • Very nice video! Sure like how you've focused on the playing, great to learn from. Thanks.
