  • i like that lonely little splash.

  • love this guy!! very well respected!

  • I hate the fact this guy is getting older. I would want him around forever. He is definitely one of my Favorite Drummers, and a joy to watch!

  • what a pleasure he is to watch, a natural talent like hendrix or redding, just so relaxed. its reassuring to know people like this exist.

  • I love the Purdie Shuffle!

  • thats purdie good.

  • "And every once in a while... 64ths" That's awesome.

  • no one is groovier

  • See more about Mr. Purdie on SoulDrummers . com

  • What're those flat toms called?

  • @TheTrueHappy I think he's playin on one of those Traps kits. Everything on it is super shallow..like maybe less than an inch deep.

  • those cymbals are so fucking CLEAN

i wish i wasnt such a lazy ass to go buy some stuff to clean it xD

  • Oh damn, thats me in the background with the big hair. Crazy.

  • Your famous!!

  • Is that Charlie Benante in the back??

  • Of Anthrax? lol he did played all the instruments on their one album I think.

  • That kit is not worthy to be played by Pretty Purdie

  • what a cheap drum set

  • lol some1 said "62nd note" ROFL

  • love purdie

  • he came to my school

  • @0SKATEANDFILM0 your school came when he arrived

  • great video, great man, but the sound isnt great

  • Yeah i noticed the ghost notes. Now i ssee how to do them well

  • Anyone notice the nod to the Purdie shuffle on "Another Way To Die" from The Quantum of Solace? I thought that was nicely done.

  • thats not a shuffle as the purdie shuffle, it's close tho. just

  • That's why I didn't say it was the Purdie shuffle. There's no doubt about its inspiration, though.

  • Okay, that guy in the yellow shirt must die! Just kiddin, but MAN is he annoying! Hahaha!

  • impeccable time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I adore purdie but i hate this video and it's simply coz of the guy in the yellow shirt in front of the camera.. I'd enjoy punching him.. hard

  • He's just trying to cop a groove to purdie

  • GOTTA Love PURDIE! But where the hell did all those Bobble Heads watching him come from???

  • @Stix47 I'd have to help you, actually.

  • @Stix47 : you're a fuckwit

  • @JoshGold34 21 other people seem to agree with me.. Judging by your assuming rage, I'm guessing you either are the the guy in yellow or he is your partner/fuck buddy. I don't like discriminating against gays. So I apologise for offending you. Enjoy your gay. woops. Day* sorry.

  • @Stix47 your just a hater

  • @drex48239 Learn to spell, then I'll listen to you. You fucking spastic.

  • Every time I hear the Purdie Shuffle, I think of Babylon Sisters by Steely Dan. Love that groove, and that song. Purdie's a saint on the drums!

  • And "Home At Last" on Aja! His groove totally owns that song.

  • That song is awesome. I noticed for a while he also kind of had a derivative of the Bonham shuffle going on, just without the ghost notes.

  • other way around, dude. He used that shuffle on Steely Dan's Home at Last on "aja". Bonham lifted it from Purdie. That was his main inspiration. Same thing can be said from many great drummers. Guys like Porcaro and Gadd for instance.

  • That would make sense, the Bonham shuffle wasn't really popular until "Fool in the Rain" which was like 1979, and Aja was released in '77

  • Ah-but it's the Purdie shuffle. Bonham just copied it. rather well too. i think there's an extra ghost note or hit in there, but it's pretty much the same.

  • He used the shuffle on Baylon Sisters too I think.

  • close. but not quite. he has many shuffles in his canon.

  • Yeah, and also on "Home At Last" from Aja. But its sped up quite a bit on Home At Last. More half-time on Babylon Sisters.

  • "Babylon Sisters" is from Gaucho right? Hmm, ya that would make sense because in the late 70's and early 80's Bernard Purdie did a lot of work with Steely dan, I think maybe with Royal Scam, Aja, and Gaucho...Go Purdie!

  • bernard purdie is an education in four way independence

  • what kind of set is that?

  • They're called Arbiter Flats. Arbiter thought it was a good idea to make drums insanely shallow, to the point where they're just one head. For being what they are, they sound surprisingly good.

  • Right hand's very dominant.

  • 64th notes, actually, there is no 62nd note, it's all multiples of 2.

  • hehe if you REALLLLY wanted... you could do some 62nd's :) you might even be able to make it musical.

  • 32nds/64ths/128ths...16ths/8ths/4ths/2nds

    1934 flatheads.

  • 62 is definitely a multiple of 2 . . .

  • i think you mean powers of 2 - 2 4 8 16 32 etc.

  • yes, he definitely means powers of 2. and i definitely meant 62nd.

  • Wow the guy in the yellow shirt really is a damn good dancer!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how's he dancing? or are you just being sarcastic?

  • go Bernard!!!

so proud to have you on my last album!

  • That dude in the black shirt, who joins the company...isn't that Mangini?!

  • nah i dont think so

  • l think it's simon cowell

  • 64th notes buddy!!!!

  • i gotta stop reading comments before i watch videos. i couldnt stop watchin the bald head guy dancing. lol funny stuff.

  • he's not all that bald. i mean, he's a little thin on top, but not bald. i didnt even notice him until it was pointed out because i was watching purdie play his famous beat. but now, i laugh! bald is funny.

  • "...and every once in a while... 62nd notes!!"

  • oh woops.

  • ?

    He doenst say dat...
