I hear much about computer-models, but these are based in the virtual world of programming; they are told what to think from the offset. This paves the way for enoromous bias simply because computer-models are only as accurate as the assumptions that get programmed into them. Assumptions do not constitute PROOF; they constitute SPECULATION; in other words, GUESSES!!

The climate system is governed by thousands of factors, many of which are poorly understood. Why single out a minor trace gas as CO2? Surely, a rational and intelligent mind can acknowledge the fact that warmings and coolings naturally come and go - determined by a multitude of factors interacting on some level and to some degree. Granted, CO2 is an INFARED ABSORBER and causes some warming, but then again, there are thousands of natural factors which do precisely the same thing P.S. the Sun.

It indicates/explains that presently our precession angle is tilted more towards the sun so the Arctic receives more sunlight and heat than during other periods during the ~25 800 year precession cycle.

That was frustrating as I also could not find the second part, if there was one. I trust that is specific enough.
That certainly is, and I apologise for the tone of my reply, which was, upon reflection, rather cranky. Unfortunately, a person well skilled in debating will always look like they are crushing their scientist opponent.
Scientists are not good debaters. There is no room for opinion in science. A television talk show is not the correct format for reviewing evidence. That should be done in the scientific journals. Monckton is a good speaker, but if he is so right, why does he misrepresent so much data? Linking vague facts together.
The key phrase is mentioned at the end: "manage our resources". Even if climate change was to be 100% debunked tomorrow (which it won't) the fact is that one say soon there will be no more oil. Or coal. Or gas. Why that's not a reason to start investing in alternative energies, wether solar, wind, wave or nuclear ASAP then I don't know what is.

This is consistent with the assertion that there is global climate change. Your source gives no reference to any data. It does not explain what the alleged mistake was. NASA clearly does not support the statement of NCPA (a conservative think tank which is against gov. intervention).

there has been no statistically significant global warming for 16 years, we've had global cooling for 10 years, since 2001 the earth has been cooling, since 2003 the oceans have been cooling. there are 5 times as many polar bears as there were 40 years ago.550 million years ago during the cambrian era, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere where 20 times today's levels, and the oceans didn't acidify, the seas didnt rise. all in all global warming is a hoax

Can anyone shed light on this question: What empirical evidence exists to support the theory of anthropogenic global warming? I hear much about computer-models, but these are based in the virtual world of programming; they are told what to think from the offset. This paves the way for enoromous bias simply because computer-models are only as accurate as the assumptions that get programmed into them. Assumptions do not constitute PROOF; they constitute SPECULATION; in other words, GUESSES!!

Lord Monckton is quite wise and correct. A lie is still a lie regardless of the face you put on it. If you genuinely care for the environment and want to seek out alternative energy sources to reduce dependency on foreign imports i.e. Oil - then why not simply admit to your heart's desire! One does not need to promote bogus theories to achieve this desired end. It is the height of arrogance to honestly believe that human beings can affect global climate!

The climate system is governed by thousands of factors, many of which are poorly understood. Why single out a minor trace gas as CO2? Surely, a rational and intelligent mind can acknowledge the fact that warmings and coolings naturally come and go - determined by a multitude of factors interacting on some level and to some degree. Granted, CO2 is an INFARED ABSORBER and causes some warming, but then again, there are thousands of natural factors which do precisely the same thing P.S. the Sun.

In Ireland we are already paying carbon taxes thanks to the presence of the Green Party in our last government. Another very good link to understand how, why and if the Arctic Ice is melting, what is the mechanism that might be more responsible for it. See Precession and Pole Shift by VRamSkyWatcher on Youtube. It indicates/explains that presently our precession angle is tilted more towards the sun so the Arctic receives more sunlight and heat than during other periods during the ~25 800 year precession cycle.

I tried this time to find some indication of what you say you explained but could find nothing. Assume it is my ignorance, but in any effect, when the debate got interesting and Monckton referred to Herr Ziegler the clip ended. That was frustrating as I also could not find the second part, if there was one. I trust that is specific enough.

That certainly is, and I apologise for the tone of my reply, which was, upon reflection, rather cranky. It's just that I did apologise for the shoddy ending to this clip (or 'rip') in my description of it (the 'blurb' - it's hard to see these days because it's become a dropdown) and provided a link for the complete interview in that blurb which is still active as far as I know, so fill your boots!.

Unfortunately, a person well skilled in debating will always look like they are crushing their scientist opponent.
Scientists are not good debaters. There is no room for opinion in science. A television talk show is not the correct format for reviewing evidence. That should be done in the scientific journals. Monckton is a good speaker, but if he is so right, why does he misrepresent so much data? Linking vague facts together.
Why doesn't he publish his "findings"?

The key phrase is mentioned at the end: "manage our resources". Even if climate change was to be 100% debunked tomorrow (which it won't) the fact is that one say soon there will be no more oil. Or coal. Or gas. Why that's not a reason to start investing in alternative energies, wether solar, wind, wave or nuclear ASAP then I don't know what is.

Good points all. However, the AGW thought disease is distracting us from these vital projects. If we continue on down this path to economic ruin, based on such spurious, politically-motivated garbage, then we really are in trouble, as in people really will start dying en masse. It's already started, actually, as a direct consequence of alarmist policies (like food crops being replaced by biofuels). To me, therefore, warmist/alarmists are very dangerous - and must be stopped!

@ludocrat If you care to look on the NASA site you will see that the warmest years since recordkeeping are: 1998, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2009. This is since 1880. This is consistent with the assertion that there is global climate change. Your source gives no reference to any data. It does not explain what the alleged mistake was. NASA clearly does not support the statement of NCPA (a conservative think tank which is against gov. intervention).
