The downtown "clinic" featured in this and many other stories was exclusively for eye and dental care. Neither are included in the plans proposed so far, so all these poor souls will be in the same predicament after the plan passes as they are now. I don't understand the venom that is being spewed. An honest exchange of ideas has no room for this. Medicare is a government run health option. I don't personally know ANYONE who has said no thanks to Medicare. Many rural hospitals and surgery centers rely on Medicare just to be able to pay their employees.

Vince, especially since these goons are too stupid to know that even if they have so-called "Privatized" healthcare, a full 45% of that healthcare is actually subsidized by this big bad govt. That means that even if you pay for your insurance, nearly half of the costs are off-set by public funding and thus you are a welfare recipient. The point of the funding is to HELP "private" providers extend coverage to more Americans. They have failed to do that, they need to be cut off from FREE MONEY.

I'm in the UK and young enough to only ever have known paying national insurance to support a redistributive health and social insurance system (and believe this is how it should be).

Obtain a SS# and a Birth Certificate and you are in debt too ... to the same peopel the hospital is ... so you must pay for this benefit ...... if you are a American without a SS# and B/C (among other things) than you will receive free services cause the National Debt is owed to "We the People" ... Actually, we are quite aware of the fact that we already have a byhrid socialist system in place. It's not a fucking secret, we want to EXPAND it. It should work in the favor of everyone. It should set a STANDARD for insurance companies. Every time someone without insurance waits for a year and a half to get treatment, it costs 10 times the amount that it would have costed to fix it in the first place, and we pay for it. We need to insure people. As Gould later says, it's good business.
