Was i the only who held their breath, when he looks at her ( 2:03 )... i mean, wooffff, someone pass the inhaler over here. Richard Armitage is as sexy as Mr. Darcey, if not more!
My heart stops every time he kisses her. I love how she's so in love with him but every time he gets close to her, she acts aloof. And he sees right through it. AAAH LOVE!!!! -3
see this is why we dont need sex and too much being shown sometimes the simplest scenes and words make for the most dramatic breath taking moments : >
Movies these days are so full of kissing and sex that the they come to mean absolutely nothing...In movies like these, a touch of the hand conveys more love and passion than is usually seen nowadays. Quality movie.
@andrewsfan1 you're absolutely right. I think that's why this scene touches me so much more than most love scenes. There is more passion and tenderness in the way he touches his hand to her face than in most love scenes found in modern film.
You love it because he looks at her with love and awe and complete attention to what she is saying and feeling. He is seeing her as a person, not an object to be possessed or used. The love shining in his eyes is what most women desire and never receive.
Haha, I love how the train just starts moving at the end right after John Thornton closes the door. That would never happen! But it flows nicely with the scene. :)
"Coming home with me?" Yes, she is, because she wants to be your woman. She's always wanted to be your woman. It just took a long time for her to realize it. She can't turn back now, because there's really no other choice. There never was.
@lyricachansoundbite Oh, I'm so glad you liked it!! Also (and I feel silly that I didn't remember this) but did you mute the actual video? I didn't put that on the list, but, I think it works better if you do.
Anyway, thanks for bothering to watch it in the first place.
My favorite bits are how the chorus matches exactly with his smiling when he gets out of the train, and with BOTH sections of the kiss!!
@cantalius errrm well there are the austen's (basically all on youtube), little dorrit, becoming jane <3, jane eyre, are all pretty good bth (bbc normally do really good classical dramas). p.s he realllly is! :P
I am sorry and I don't know if it's just his acting but this whole searing eye contact trumps Colin Firth's "The Look" of Pride and Prejudice 1995 fame. And I am a staunch Janeite. Thornton is a more open and outspoken Darcy combined with a much more mild and not insane Rochester. I can't.
@hawiiandelight It is from the BBC production North and South. It is based on the novel of the same name by Elizabeth Gaskell. Go rent it! Now. We'll wait. :-D
@hawiiandelight North and South NOT the Civil War one. Omg, you ruined the end for yourself! :O But it really is the most amazing movie I have ever seen. Such a good story, such good characters, such good acting, such good chemistry between the leads. It is a definite must see! I would recommend just straight up buying it. No renting or checking out from the library! It's definitely worth the cost! :)
found this book by accident in library. have now read it twice (in one week) and watched the dvd umpteen times! it is now my fav, unseating jane eyre and pride and prejudice! Mr Thornton is just PERFECT! what i would do...
@1greyhorse I know! Mr Thornton is perfect! Followed closely by Mr Rochester--I still love Mr Rochester. His passion for Jane is amazing. (I would choose Mr Thornton over him though because at least he's not mentally ill like Rochester, lol). I want a man like Thornton: Honest, hardworking, dedicated, kind, passionate, stable, devoted. <3 Doesn't everybody?

1. Put the video at 0:10.
2. Get Nickelback's 'Far Away' ready to play on your computer.
3. Play them together.
4. Pause the video as the train pulls out of the station (the song doesn't cover the last bit)
5. Swoon :)
P.S. This video is madly gorgeous all by itself, and this was only something I discovered watching the movie in my own home.
Watch the video as it is before you try this out!!
And thank you so, so, soo much for this beautiful clip, hayhay2245!!
