  • I love this Porsche and the 928, don't like the 911. Just saying..

  • everyone says not to buy a porsche due to the expense of the parts. im thinking of buying one, can anyone give me advice?

  • i`m buying 911 next week

  • My grandpa used to have a 944. But he got to old to drive anymore so he sold it to my uncle zach.

  • @sounddrums LOL! Me too, while they were busying looking for hondas and volkswagens ahh good times with that 89' black 944 turbo

  • Flat out it will do 165mph not 150mph

  • This is what annoys me about TG sometimes - my folks had one when I was a kid and I expected a decent review with a great sound, not Jez complaining about speedbumps.

There are roads that don't have them.... Same ones also have nice corners, straights and little traffic.

  • My first car. I tuned it up. The turbo lag has been reduced. My friends hate it because I'm 17 paid 5500 for the car and I'm the only person with a Turbo and better yet a Porsche at my school. The girls love it. :D

  • @sounddrums I feel ya man!! I payed 8500 for mine but its in mint condition and only at 72K miles with the special 2.7 NA motor!! hahaha Porsche bro's

  • this is my first car, what do u guys think of it??

  • @CrashClownStudios Very nice sound to it, it is certainly an attention grabber

  • My first import ,after tuning,an alittle modifications I now get 6500 rpm with 270 tourq and 250 hp with costom 3.0 dohc

  • Lol KKK turbo

  • the 1982-1991 Porsche 944 was assembled in

    Neckarsulm, Germany

  • i'm buying this next week

  • you're on the wrong side of the road. you're going to get that fancy car broken

  • its beautiful

  • anyone know how or were i could find a turbo for my none turbo 944 i have 84

  • @WillRod322 supercharge it

  • @WillRod322 Yeah look on ebay. Type in 944 turbo

  • @WillRod322 Turbo and non turbo engines have different compression, camshafts and other mechanical components you'd have to rebuild the engine to put turbo on it and it still wouldn't be reliable.

  • i have a 84 944 and iam trying to get a turbo for it do anyone knows where i can look for one i have a none turbo now but the car is sweet looking love the car but i think it will be better with a turbo

  • @WillRod322 I was told a while ago that you cannot put a turbo on a non turbo version. I was told you'd have to put a supercharger on it. If that's accurate I don't know, because I never called around and asked others about it or read up on it.

  • i had a 84 944 n/a, fun car..i just recently drove a 89 rxl GXL. good car but still doesnt have the performance the porsche does in all aspecs even wit hit being a gxl...just fyi

  • "The engine from a van, a price tag from mars, and the top speed of a horse..." LOL!

  • I'm considering buying a 944, but am concerned about the cost of maintenance. Anyone here manage to properly maintain one without breaking the bank?

  • @TucoRamirez2 You will be repairing it every week. Few members from local forum has it. He bought it for 6000$ CAD and his been repairing it almost every month. Parts are extremely expensive and the car is not that fast

  • @TucoRamirez2 If you get a solid car, it'll run great and are very reliable. Repairs though, are extremely expensive. Keep in mind now, most of these cars are well over 20 years old. I recommend spending a little more money and getting one with low to mid range miles. If not, you'll spend the money anyway later on repairs on high mileage cars. Whenever one of my old ones broke down, expect to spend at least a thousand to fix it.

  • Now this epitomises what i like most about Jeremy Clarkson's Car Reviews

(his wonderfully creative & ever varied usage of the English Language for example ; )

Interesting the Clarkson & Tiff Needel both love the 944 Turbo

(Tiff having raced them professionally & even buying one in the 1980's).

Couldn't agree more on Pop Up Headlamps too, why they can't style Cars as well as in the 1960's-early 1990's hayday is beyond me.

Supercar's should look like Science Fiction made real, not Tate Modern.

  • my standard 250 bhp 944 Turbo will do 171 ....(on play station of course)

  • My dream car :)

  • I love my Porsche 944!

  • mazda mx5 made pop up lights un cool

  • He's driving God (951)

  • So i beat this guy on a 944 turbo with my turboed 94 Ford Probe GT and when we pulled side by side he tells me his boost is delayed! Well I thought he gave me the ricers excuse because he provoked the race and now got butt hurt in front of his girl but i hear Jeremy mentioning turbo lag around 57 sec. I guess he should have downshifted but either way that's one car I'd love to built!

  • I love this car, I used to have a 944 S2, which looks just like a Turbo, except it's N/A with a 3.0 L engine.

They're worth every penny, I need to get another Porsche soon, perhaps a 928. XD

  • @PentruRasaAlba Almost all Porsches can be money pits, but the 928 can be the worse. I'd say go with a 951 and start the hobby with getting all the maintenance services done especially the timing belt and water pump. Even Stage 1 software really helps put these cars on the map against the more powerful 928 S4, GT(s), or 911's but a larger turbo is where you can start picking on the super cars and exotics that cost ten to 100 times more.

  • @drewnashty

Oh I don't disagree with you there, I know the 951's can be made into some extremely fast road-rockets, it's just that the 928 has 'the looks' on the 944, and also the sound, love the V8 engine in the 928's. However, ultimately it comes down to money, and as you said, 944's are cheaper.

  • @PentruRasaAlba woah woah, 928s have the looks on 944s? I dont agree. And as for the sound / v8, the 944t is a much more efficient car.

  • Hey does anyone know where this clip came from???

I want to see the rest of it! Either that or can the original poster upload the rest?

    PLZ??

  • @Hangule4 It's on the sidebar noob!

  • Should I get this car?

  • Complete version 4eE8ZTdQ9Uc

  • im getting my driving linsence soon, im going to buy me this porsche (no turbo)

should be a nice first car i guess:)

  • @elfofdeath1 ill sell u mine

  • @cowbowsfan101 , haha i live in holland?

  • @elfofdeath1 same here

  • well of course the 924 had an engine of a horse but the weight distribution was much lighter than the 944.

  • 3000 pounds? huh.. i found one in very good shape at 2000 euro :p

  • @cezar40 James May found one for 950 =P

haha that was on another episode where they got 1500 quid to buy a porshe. and the only problem he had was a punctured tire. i plan to get one of these 944's also, but put a better turbo in and all :)

  • "The only problem is the lag" Time for a vitesse kit.

  • I want this to be my next car :)

  • just bought mine last week! amazing car. Tinted the windows, added ground effects and set down a bose system in the back. Shes my lady!

  • Porsche should make a new 944: a 4 cylinder, front engine, entry-level roadster.

Let them keep the 911. Give the Boxster and Cayman the same engines and give them the same name (the Cayman is just a Boxster with a roof). Then make a new 928, a front-engined, V8 sportscar that is faster than the 911. Then, restyle the Panamera to not look like a mangled ape and change the Cayenne from an SUV into an estate/crossover. That way, VW gets their increased model lineup, and we get better Porsches.

  • I have a 1986 944 turbo. It's White with a wide body kit. Really fun to drive and very fast. I'm looking to get rid of it to have more space for my other cars. Email me if you're interested and or want pictures (SELLING FOR VERY CHEAP) FLeduardoP@gmail.com

  • Love the 944 -- I used to have a 944 S2 from '89, and it was truly my favorite car, out of all the cars I've driven, and all the cars I've owned.

And to give you an idea, my first car when I was 16 was an '88 300ZX Turbo w/ manual tranny... drove a bunch of other sportscars and souped up ricers [i.e. Hondas, Eclipses, etc...], but nothing compared to that Porsche. =)

    Now, I want to get either a 944 Turbo, or 928 S4/GT.

  • Love it. i own a heavily modded 87 951; 350whp on pump and daily driver.

  • I love the 944s2 and I think the convertable is even better looking. Even today I would recommend a 944s2 to anyone, brilliant car, well built, lasts forever, looks good still, and goes very well!! Cheap quality motoring!!

  • Lol2, he tends to exaggerate performance, just use leftover VW parts and an Audi Engine, There i no problem with Audi, but it's still Audi. Dont talk about original 944 parts, inhalate and enjoy, it is German!

  • the ass of the car looks horrible

  • Lol, he tends to exaggerate performance, "oooo, BIG 2.5L 4 CYLINDER!! and a BIG STOCK TURBO" lol, it wasn't that great for performance, and he underestimates the 924, using incorrect info, yes the early 924's (70's-early 80's) did just use leftover VW parts, but the later 80's ones were very hard to distinguish from 944's of the same time period.

  • @thinkpad411 uh, no they aren't hard to distinguish. idiotic comment

  • @thinkpad411 for 1986, 220 hp out of a 4 cylinder engine was massive. it was a vette killer at 0-60 in under 5.5 seconds. and unfortunately the difference between a 944 turbo/s2 is DRASTICALLY different from the 924, considered the ULTRA entry level car at the time! with a van engine! still a porsche though:)

  • new new new

    youtube. com/watch?v=rRD3B_qYjak

  • pop up head lamps are the coolest thing ever forgotten.

  • @oddzerozero yes, I love the pop up head lamps!

  • @oddzerozero Evidently there are regulations requiring the lights to be a certain distance above the ground. Pop up lights were the only way of meeting the regs. (Unless you want to to go the bugeye Sprite route.

  • @oddzerozero agree'd

  • i like it better in black

  • the 924 is the same project between porsche and volkwagen that has brought about the most iconic cars in history. The 911 was spritual. And made porsche porsche. I dont buy the whole 924 story that volkswagen pulled out. Was this car ever really going to be badged a VW if they hadnt. Surely both sides would know there was more money if it was badged a porsche.

  • Comment removed

  • how dare he disrespect the 924 its an audi engine

  • @paulhunter123 True, the block is a closed deck too. The turbos, used a porsche head/intake, and the audi block.

  • the 951 is really that much better than the NA 944.

They can be made to make some really wicked HP

I have had both and there really isn't a comparison

  • @mojospops I have a 944 regular of 87 ( stunning looking car. A real head turner ) and I have a convertible 944 S2, and MY GOD this convertible is a beast compared to the 944. Litterally savage when you floor it. It's engine has 210+ compression on every cylinder, so it's as close to the true performance of the car as it gets. I can't wait to try the 951.

I really do not understand why these porsches go so low on ebay. They are by far the best looking of their era, and still are imo.

  • @AlexTheShark They go for low prices because theres invariably something dodgy about them ... there's some real rust bucket 944s on the road and well it is a 25 year old car that's never going to be perfect but often something ugly lurking in its past history. I guarantee that most of them sub £2k will either be missing huge chunks of its service history, something nasty lurking on the HPI check or riddled with filler (= dangerous car). Get what you pay for, and I've seen some horror stories.

  • @AlexTheShark 951 is crazy fast :)

  • I hear what your saying as far as real power, the 951 is so much more, but the NA models can be amazing cars for racing anything from autocross to scca club. Love my NA, wish it were turbo, but I wish I had a lot of things lol.

  • 944s are the best. I need to try the turbo one day, people describe it as stunningly performant compared to the regular 944 ( which is a very good ).

  • i havent tried a 951 (944 turbo) yet, ive owned 944s and if the 951 is much better....

    then damn!

  • @p012sch3 Well, I know they ( usually Lindsay Racing ) can crank them to produce over 550 hp at rear wheels, which will smoke a lambo murceliago straight out.

But even stock, they are legendary. Just look at Clarkson praise its performance considering

    A) the man drives the best of the best for living, for over 20 years now.

    B) the 951 he has probably isn't at optimal mechanical condition. I strongly doubt they'll restore the engine to top condition just for a drive.

    C) he's a porsche hater

  • nice

  • wheres the second part??

  • did cut i off

  • @Porschesports yeah you did...

  • @Porschesports Well upload it...

  • @Porschesports

    Hahaha, wtf?

  • @Porschesports full segment is here /watch?v=4eE8ZTdQ9Uc&feature=related

  • @Porschesports I WANT PART TWO
