It's a lovely speech from a lovely lady and a great actress. I don't see how anyone could find anything wrong with it. I guess that there are always people who have to nag about something.

And the big deal is........what exactly?I agree with the others on here,it was an emotional thing for her,I mean, wouldn't you say that too,she was really happy.Get over yourself people,I saw nothing wrong so apparently there's alot of dumbasses out there.
The phrase, "You like me" was originally from her wry, understated, famous reply in the film Norma Rae, but many people totally missed the subtle, sophisticated connection in her acceptance speeches, with that point in the film.
Me... me ... me ....me. It is all about me! Julia Roberts topped it though. She came on and did this insane asylum type of guffaw or laugh. Pure ego madness and self-love and vanity. And Halle Berry was pretty outrageous too. Her mother is white. The father of her daughter is white. But she gave this speech about being black. Jim Carrey did a great spoof or satire of this speech. "You like me! Right now! You like me! ...This obsession with me!" Ego and vanity and self-love. I could vomit. Ughhh.
@alail28 What does her being "black" have to do with winning the Oscar? The criteria is the dramatic performance not the skin pigmentation. Hattie McDaniel, a black actress, won an Oscar in 1939 just 10 years after the Oscars were created.

She is one of the finest and greatest American Actresses of all time. Natalie Portman joining this group is a joke.

What's the big deal? What she said was in the moment and coming from her heart. It was coming from a place of joy and happyness.

I thought that the press was so unfair to her over this honest spilling-out of emotion. I thought it was a sincere and honest moment.

@trschaefer Totally agreed. She got a lot of meanness over this spontaneous, heartfelt expression of happiness.
