  • This is amazing

  • The sets of theese old musical movies were always so amazingly built.

I would very much have wanted to visit one back in the days.

Sadly theese types of films aren't made anymore.

CGI can never replace the pure craftmanship that went into making theese movies.

  • Why do some people think they're better at life, simply because they watched a video on youtube because they saw it from an original source, i dont get it ?

  • Omg...it just came to me- I should so have this as My first wedding dance :'D ah- My groom is gonna kill me XD

  • Go Famili Guy :D

  • Boston Ballet SDP had to learn this song and the dance this year haha :) good times

  • I've never seen Family Guy and I am proud of that. I first heard this song when I watched The Music Man, which became my favorite musical. <3

  • I love this musical but I HATE this song with a burning passion!!!

  • Well, when I saw Seth Macfarlane's version of this on Family Guy, I thought hooray, there's one other straight guy in the US who actually likes the American Broadway Musical.

  • I first saw this musical in elementary school. It was part of our music course. I just assumed everyone else had seen it at a young age, too. I mean, it's a goddamn classic. I had forgotten about this part and reminded when I saw Family Guy.

So my question is: If you first saw it on Family Guy, were you home schooled by retarded parents or did your school just suck terribly?

  • those kids were probaly what oh free hat

  • Thumbs up your asses if you aren't doing a little dance in your chair. *shimmy*

  • I just saw the "Family Guy" bit after someone I know told me how funny it was. I guess I always thought "Music Man" for that song... guess I'm older than I thought. Still, both are great.

  • I want to know how many people that watch Family Guy and saw their version of this actually know that it came from this musical :)

  • "NO! NO!!" lol Shipoopi!

  • he played the mechanic in the original Herbie movie

  • great song xD

  • Oh, Buddy Hackett... you were so great..

  • the guy singing is scuttle from the little mermaid!!!

  • i like the other marcellus in the 2003 movie better

  • Thumb up that when your balls itch, you grab them with you hand.

  • @Baldorad ?

  • is it just me or does it kinda sound like they breathed in helium? O.o

Their voices sound really high-pitched, especially the guy in the middle (gray suit, red tie. . . yeah that dude)

  • Thumbs up if you are tired of "Thumb Up" comments.

  • @paradigmmaster11 are you not being a hypocrite while asking this and everyone that likes is it s hypocrite????

  • Gee I'm getting tired of "Thumbs up if..:" comments. Come on, don't you have imagination?! Make something else up!

  • "Thumbs up if" I don't give a fuck!!

  • I wonder how many takes this took.

  • @loloutloud360 i guess ALOT XD

  • i did even know this song was real i thought it was just for laughs on family guy

  • @Poodlepups I'm pretty sure the line means that she won't get upset or angry.

  • w t f.........

  • I've always loved this song. I had a good laugh when this came on family guy.

  • lol at 1:49 fat people = tuba

  • tss family guy rip off

  • @thomaswelvaert troll or not, you're a dumbass

  • @stevediraddo

    slow clap

  • I have to play this song in pit orchestra for the musical at my school....can't take it seriously

  • im glad this is still the first video to come up when you type in shipoopi, sadly family guy is still 2nd

  • thumbs up if you were looking for the family guy one and found this

  • After seeing this it makes family guy so much better =P

  • Thumbs up if you like the family guy version better.

  • God damn it, musicals are so fucking corny. It's no wonder Family Guy makes fun of them all the time.

  • where are the football players, refs, cheerleaders, band members, and john madden at?

  • Peter Griffin is way better.

  • What...this is a real thing?!?! LOl i thought it was made by FG. my bad. awkward

  • @MasterDancer29 That is what you get for thinking family guy is in any way creative enough to make their own stuff. :P

  • @MasterDancer29 Most, if not all, of Family Guy's songs are based off of other stuff. Ex. this, "My god this house is freakin' sweet!" is from Annie's "I think I'm gonna like it here!" and ect.

  • @Acsuperman72 Hahah, yeah i'm just figuring that out now, LOL. But i like that he references classics, Seth is a genius.

  • Thumbs up if you don't care where anyone heard if from and just glad that you and others enjoy it.

  • I first saw this on Broadway, with Doogie Howser's pal "Vinnie" (well the actor) doing the lead in this number.

  • when i heard this song on Family Guy i was like what the fuck? lol

  • thumbs up if u like the kid who ran away like " MOM I GOT A FREE HAT!"

  • I loved this song when I was in the musical at my school!

  • Yeah, this was one Family Guy reference I just totally did not get.

  • wut did i just watch

  • This would make a great national anthem for Djibouti.

    :D

  • This movie is an allegory for date rape.

  • :) sorry first time was family guy, lol buddy hacket was awsome though still remember listening with my dad to his japaneese massage joke

  • he kinda sounds like bugs bunny thumbs up if you agree

  • I heard this song from Family Guy, BUT it's not like I didn't know who Buddy Hackett was or that The Music Man is a very famous musical...

  • love how the family guy has more than the original WAHEYYYYYY!!!!

  • 5th grade play, this was the best thing(:

  • griffin no showboating

  • Thumbs up if you saw it from Family Guy and/or the musical.

  • 4:59 allright~ i'v made a touchdown! XD

  • thumbs up if u heard it on family guy

  • Anyone else think it sounds like he's describing his girlfriend like a bad case of diahrrea? o_O

  • I like Family Guy's better.

  • Thumbs up if you heard this song from Family Guy and NOT the musical

  • this is a good song...but this guy is a god awful singer

i'm not sure if it's his character but seriously, he is pretty terrible.

  • @sausageyman D: think of how it woulda sounded if jackie chan sung it o.o! dont diss his nazzle voice D:

  • @LGTryg I heard this from Family Guy first, but I appreciate the musical more.

  • this is where the troll walk originated

  • glad that i am one of the few people that saw this version first and not family guy

  • @LGTryg Not only did I hear this off the musical, I danced this dance...its actually much harder then it looks LOL

  • my daughter wanted to see the original version after seeing it on family guy.

  • this is intense.

  • Lol when was this song even created?!?

  • yea i scored a touchdown

  • @LGTryg my lil sis sang it the first time I heard it, I thought she made it up, nut then she showed me the family guy bit but this one is also fun XD

  • How is it a good thing that someone heard this song from the musical? The guy can't even speak properly let alone sing properly... Get taste!

  • This is stupid! Stop making comments about what brought you here, we DON'T care!! Just shut it and enjoy the music! THank you!

  • @DaltonTProductions fuck that show.

  • @bleedorange2332 fuck this film

  • @DaltonTProductions I first heard from Family Guy XD

  • @DaltonTProductions seriously? 166? What is wrong with this generation??? Oh well, the family guy version was hilarious too, but I saw it on stage first.

  • @DaltonTProductions Are you fucking retarded?

  • @DaltonTProductions I think Seth Mcfarlane would give you a thumbs down, seeing how he saw it first in the musical

  • @thebigjoekrash right

  • @DaltonTProductions I actually saw the musical first, forgot about the song, saw it on Family Guy, and now I'm here.

  • that fat chic hackett dances with is the tough ol outlaw broad from the Andy Griffith show

  • Iv'e been in this musical multiple times....

  • where are the cheerleaders,football players,band members,and refs at in 4:30?

  • thumbs up if the only reason you looked at this video is because you heard it on family guy first

  • @LGTryg Hey everyone, I think I'm really cultured and have something to prove by posting ridiculous comments on YouTube to see my username at the top of the list.

  • thumbs up if you heard this from family guy because family guy is the shit.

  • Well, not a bad song, but why does it encourage couples squeezing each other?

  • @Rhesputan I think it means when they're holding hands or something, but yeah

  • @LGTryg who gives a fuck.

  • @LGTryg awe, thumbs down lol

  • Comment removed

  • Alright!! I scored a touchdown. :D DERP!!

  • there are no football players, cheerleaders,or refs from 4:30 to 4:40 (family guy) the funny part

  • To TheGomez59 - The guy singing is Buddy Hackett - He was more of a comedian than a singer or dancer. It took some work to get him to be able to do this.

  • ...And at 1:58, the very first grind line.

  • imagine if you were just at a dance and someone just starts singing a song called shipoopi in a squeaky voice id be scared lol

  • @dustwing216 You know you'd love it!! :D

  • @beatngo710

a little scared and a little excited

  • @LGTryg Why do you ask that? Because you think it's bad to first hear it from Family Guy? Everyone has to hear it somewhere first. And since Musicals aren't as popular as they used to be, it's probably FG. And they use a lot of Musical Parodys. And everything that gets you to listen to such classy Music can't be bad. I'm from germany and I never heard of those Musicals they used, because only a few of them are played here and even less the movies.

  • @akawhut I agree with you! There are kids who never would watch this video, but if they come onto YouTube to watch the FG version, they just might end up watching the original (my own children have had experiences like that, and sometimes have admitted liking the original versions better!) I guess it's similar to some who were kids in the 60s not knowing Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody if it weren't for Bugs Bunny or Tom and Jerry episodes featuring the music...

  • Susan Luckey was such a talented dancer! She plays Zaneeta Shinn.

  • I always think that, at 3:50, they look like they're from an old cartoon where the characters break out into a tango or something. One scene in particular is the chubby bandit guy on the Princess and the Frog.

  • This is just like the way the Community Theatre is doing it... xD But without the outer bench area...

  • hmmm...family guy makes a fuck load of musical references doesn't it?

  • the guy who's singing sounds like he got kicked in the balls.

  • there's no football players,cheerleaders,of refs at 3:56,LOL

  • FAMILY GUY!!:)

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if you heard this song from Family Guy and NOT the musical

  • I saw this movie when it first came out at the drive-in when I was 8. It's one of my top 2 favorites since then.

  • @circusitch what's the other favorite?

  • @red2seata I thought someone would ask that. It is the 1933 version of King Kong. Third place is a tie between a whole bunch.

  • The professer is a pimp!

  • Not one of these dancing men are straight! Trust me they are all gay! lol

And who says that gays havent given America anything good? Just look at all these classics. XD

  • The fun begins at 3:30!

  • @LGTryg I heard it in Family Guy, searched around, found out where it's from and then watched the movie. Without Family Guy I wouldn't have known about it. Don't hate :)

  • I've never seen the musicial, so this out of context is seriously seeming awful

  • How isn't this disgustingly anti-feminist? I would like to know.

  • Shameful is not knowing this musical at all. So what we know it because of Family Guy or not! I like it!!!!

  • i feel kinda ashamed that i know this family guy

  • oh the dance style hahaXD.

  • Thumbs up if you heard this song from Family Guy and NOT the musical.

  • RIP Buddy Hackett

  • Am I the only one that sees two little kids dancing to this at 3:20?

  • @Fowlfan333 no you're not the only one

  • Awww. . . . That looks like FUN!!!!

  • macfarlane sang it better..thats a fact

  • our school did this last year and i was glad i was part of it

  • Yeah like those guys go for chicks

  • I searched this because this is the Musical my High School is doing next year.

  • all that dancing was on accident.

  • DAMMIT PETER I SAID NO SHOWBOATING!!

  • I'm also thinking of the version in Family Guy....

  • look at their skirts on 4:27. its so cool!

  • i saw this movie before i ended school. its so cool. now were doing this song in a musical with old broadway songs and dances and this dance is sooooooo fun! i get to be lifted in this dance! MEEEEE!!! lol

  • white people cant dance

  • @lukassnakeman racist..

  • I've always considered this very curious number to to be one of the most insanely lunatic and hilarious production numbers ever concieved to film, as if the director (and the cast) took a massive hit of amphetamines before filming it. If anyone wishes to lose weight without exercise, this is the one to get the metabolism off the charts. Certainly not for the weak of heart.

  • Lol I got this from Yahoo Answers.

  • I am 1000000 :)

  • I think I like this version better than Family Guy!! :D That main guy is awesome! Lol

  • the guy's voice sounds goofy.the guy from the 2000 version of music man did it way better and so did peter griffin

  • @cutecutehottie101 Yeah but this is Buddy Hackett!

  • THEY SAID POOPIE

  • PETER GRIFFIN GOT BETTER MOVES..LOL

  • I thought they did it on FG because it was annoying cheesy crap soI find it pretty funny to read people arguing over it.

  • I like family guy it's a good show but I hated that they stole this song this is way before family guy.

  • @willgardner1989 ye but put it in context family guy stole it to show Peter literally makes a song and dance out of scoring a touchdown

  • @willgardner1989

its called a tribute. Seth McFarland's always throwing show tune stuff in the show. remember when Stewie danced with Gene Kelly in Jerry's place?

  • Yeah I love this song before I watched family guy did it family guy butcherd it I watch this when I was little.

  • @willgardner1989

Like it or not you have to be happy it's giving the original so much publicity.

  • that man just told those kids at 0:35 to squeeze her when she isnt looking. :/ someone is going to jail.

  • @oOCHINAMAN16Oo It means different than it does these days it was 1962

  • @oOCHINAMAN16Oo someones gonna try something on those old ladies...

  • Wow, first time I got thumbs up :D.

  • family guy is way better this is just boring

  • family guy is way better

  • i heard this the first time way back when i was in school,,our music teacher had us watch the music man in class,,never heard it again till family guy,,lol

  • why is he talking to those kids about couples squeezing each other

  • @TheCommentcommentcom Call Of Duty

  • @LuciferDavid Well I'm pretty sure millions would disagree, me I watch it for its racist comments, Political pisstakes and religious jokes. They are by far the funniest and best jokes that have come out of Family Guy. Some people do feel offended by it to, you just have to remember that it takes the piss out of EVERYTHING from juice to the Taliban. Some scenes are funny though some can be really dull and boring. It's like an on and off show, I knew this song before watching Family Guy.

  • @TheCommentcommentcom Your just lucky Family Guy actually aired this otherwise it would've been dead and buried. The only reason I like it is for it's racist jokes, political banter and the way it just generally takes the piss out of everything Simpsons is now extremely dull. When is the last time you heard a crude, racist or dirty joke on there?

Some people just dont understand that we like watching idiots and the Griffins are a bunch of idiots.

  • @LuciferDavid Thank you

  • I luv the way he says "shipoopi" :D

  • Press 1 repeatidly.. 'Piss off you bag of pudding'
