Simon Belmont, to me allright... to me... is the definition of inner strength. Completely alone, he ventures into the castle of Dracula - having no (known) abilities such as Richter Belmont whatsoever. All he trusts is his skill with the whip - and his stout Heart. And this music well prooves it! At least, that's my opinion. :) He's been my main inspiration during hard times. And whenever I need strength boost, I think of Simon in his Chronicles outfit, and this theme. It ALWAYS works!

@PsychoticLuke actually i think konami hinted that the belmont bloodline has alot of spiritual power. that's why he's able to use holy water, crosses to such effect against the undead. int he gameboy castlevania it's hinted that alucard had a love child with the female character in that game. i think her name was sophia or sonya belmont. i forget which. in any case she had huge magical abilities too.

@kingbane2 Might be the case. My thought is that they are pure spirited, and that it's from there their power comes from (Simon Belmont being the one with most inner strength) - other Belmont's merely learned to channel their strength into a physical manifestation.

And yes, I heard as much about that. But as far as my knowledge goes into the series, that theory was quickly discarded by IGA. Since he took Sonia out of the picture from the series and introduced Leon Belmont, which is a shame.

also, the origin story of dracula is completely different in LoI than in bram stokers novel, but apparently thats apart of the story line.

Julius did not only defeat Dracula, but halted his resurrection cycle. He obviously needed help to seal Castlevania (Akumajou Dracula) in the moon eclypse.

Alas, I never heard Julius was the strongest, I thought Richter was... it's mentioned in Symphony of the Night. :/

Yeah man - same here. I find it quite addicting to play. And in not small part because of the soundtrack. It's by fart the most epic created for a CV game - and it fits Simon perfectly. Their design - of Dracula and Simon - was absolutely magnificent. If anything Simon can teach is - is how much self belief can go - and in trust in the power of your own heart. He alone, without any powers, spanked Dracula to oblivion.
