  • Why she was never in a Broadway show baffles me. But then, if she'd gone to Broadway, we wouldn't have had the privilege of seeing and hearing this great talent and having all of this to enjoy today. What a stunning voice she had. I call it The Voice because there's none like it.

  • OMG!

how can she be 13 here???

    she was a prodigy.

  • Suck it Justin Beiber. Suck on that. Do you hear this? Do you know what this is? this is a motherfuckin bamf. And she's 13 here. Yeah, suck it.

  • Really lovely to see and watch, footage I have never seen before now, thankyou so much as I am actually related to Judy Garland, my great gran and her dad were brother and sister.

  • Judy described her mother Ethel (2:54 far left) as "the real wicked witch of the west".

  • Thanks so much for putting this together. I've never seen many of those photos. Really great ! You can tell, even as a little girl, that there's something powerful going on behind those eyes.

  • Wow! her voice was amazing at such a young age. She was born to be a star

  • Her voice brings tears to my eyes. I feel so bad she had the life she did, put on drugs and addicted at such a young age. People ruined her, not her herself. But at least she put all her emotions into her surreal talent. I love you Judy. <3

  • What a wonderful experience. I loved Judy Garland movies and songs. What a great talent. Thank you for your efforts.

  • Amazing!! One of the greatest voices ever!

  • Whatever became of the other 2 sisters after Judy became the big star? Is there a story on them somewhere we can read?

  • too amazing for words. how could a little girl sing like this, as if it's the last song that will ever be sung and means to make the most of it. what a killer.

  • j'aimais (pourquoi dire à l'imparfait ??)

  • What are her sisters' names? The middle one is stunning.

  • @MyTwoCentsAreFree Her oldest sister (7 years older) was Mary Jane "Suzy", and the middle sister (5 years older) was Dorothy Virginia "Jimmie".

  • @joshscomputer Thanks. The middle sister looks particularly beautiful in the photo at 2:50.

  • THIRTEEN!!! and all in good taste! no mannerisms, no excess, etc.!! HA! take that, american idol-wannabes! AND THE SECOND HALF IN SWING TIME!!!!! HAHA! And her voice is so pretty here, very smooth and light.

  • What a voice, what an actress, what a beautiful lady.

  • The one and only.

  • Child prodigy genius ... incomparable adult legend ... always in our hearts

  • her smile is eternal

  • Magic . . . Judy at her magical BEST! Thank You for generously posting this!

  • This is my favorite version followed by the 'no swing' Listen Darling version (the last note always gets me). What a vivacious kid!!

  • Ah.... never tire of Judy...and this is 1 of my favs from her.

Her daughter Lorna has the same birthday as me..I met her when she played in ireland a few yrs back, didnt know then.

  • @xxBighussxx Well then I guess it's all about you!

  • Beautiful - thanks for posting.

  • lovely. what a voice.

  • this would have been good to "born in a trunk" from a star is born

  • I agree with what Maria Callas once said of Judy; "the greatest voice I've ever heard."

  • @monroenorma

I think Maria Callas said that about Rosa Ponselle.

  • *Beautiful video*! *Great sound upload*. What a lovely tribute, in every way; brought tears to my eyes. *Thank you* for posting!

  • 2:56 they all look just alike..i swear white women back in those times were beautiful as hell!!!...the 2nd one on the left is gorgeous

  • wow thats sad her dad was dying while she was singing?

  • its judy garland now

  • I think true talent has to be paid for in some way. Think of the millions who live out their lives in quite desperation with no talent at all. They just live and die and no one knows they were here. Judy Garland paid dearly for her talent and immortality.

  • This is the BEST of Judy actually. Perhaps not as sophisticated as her latter offerings but the high quality is unmistakable. Thank You for posting this gem. This is Judy at her most thrilling.

  • That was fabulous! Just fabulous! I love the purity of that performance. I have a bunch of Gumm pictures but you found a couple I have never even seen. Great job.

  • Such precious photos. Lovely song. I really like this.

  • this is wonderful. I bought it off itunes =D x

  • The pic at 2:18 doesnt look like her much.

  • I do think that she was very talented but i really wonder that child/teen stardom is harmful to a person, because of what problems/early death she and other child stars had.

  • ...judy garland...how wonderful.....!

  • a question:the town of Grand Rapids where Judy Garland/Frances Gumm came from is in the state of Minnesota or Michigan?

  • Minnesota. She lived there until 1926, when her family moved to Lancaster, California.

  • thanks for answer,i kind of thought that she didin,t go to California until her career was started for her at 13 years of age.

  • minnesota

  • minnesota

  • OK Thanks for answer

  • She went on stage at 2 years old!!! Accompanied by her grandma on piano.

She REFUSED to leave the stage lol. A voice as sweet as sugar. RIP Judy.

  • Thank you. I am reading her daughter Lorna Luft's incredible book about being Judy's daughter, and the family.

  • Hard to believe she was only 13! SO TALENTED! And BEAUTIFUL

  • Its a pleasure to watch your Vids

Special thanks for sending me MarBellCh

  • Fantastic video! Thank you soo much!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Please excuse my rant below, readers, I just lost my cool and lashed out; thought those days were beyond us...

  • tThat is okay - everyone has the right to speak out.

What a beautiful voice Judy had - I read she had the gift of knowing how to interpret a song perfectly. That same statement was made about Michael Jackson - there is similar background. So Very Sad for those GIFTED TALENT may they RIP

  • Hollywood casualties

  • Bronco, you stinking bigoted, hating worm...keep your jew-hating garbage rhetoric to yourself. You were taught well to hate.Shrivel up and crawl under a stone. Enough of us died because of people like you.

  • judy garland was and always will be the most talented person to ever walk this earth rest in peace judy ill always be your biggest fan

  • Seldom, but one time or the other a star, a true star is born and Judy was one.She fell from heaven to bring joy to the entire world. These are rare fair flower easy to brise and often are. We loved Judy. I just wish i could have made your life a little more happy and easier. Rest in peace sweetie.... Thank you so much for posting this...

  • Just watched a special on the claasic station about JudyGarland. You know, its amazing. Her mother made her have an abortion. Mayer...the greedy ass jew, filled her with drugs along withall the other child actors. He only put her in roles where she was the simple plain even ugly child. Told her she was fat.

    Question is:

How would you cope, if all you had was yourself?

    Although she did have Mickey.

Very sad story and is actually quite similar to Michael Jackson in a lot of ways too.

  • I bought this off itunes.. it took some finding but i'm so glad.

    R.I.P Judy x x

  • Her voice was Heaven. I love Judy.

  • Aww what a doll she was adorable! I love seeing people like this it reminds me that no matter how wonderful or terrible a person is they were all once sweet children. Many kids have talent but none like hers. Who would have known that the little girl with the huge eyes would turn out to be such a great entertainer?

  • I always thought Judy had the best voice!

  • I fall in love every time I hear that voice.

  • She was a talented kid.

  • Thanks - it is simply wonderful!

  • This is just great-thanks for posting this!

  • A legend, an icon forever and ever, and truly the most talented and greatest entertainer of the 20th Century.

  • @GEVMM To praise JG it is not necessary to be injustice to our great entertainers we had, and by the way she could not be the greatest entertainer, because too much unhappiness was to be felt. If you just say, she was the greatest singer since music recordings - you may be right.

  • I'll say it again...if American Idol were on television for the next 50 years, never NEVER ever EVER would they discover another voice as perfectly precious as this...Judy is so SO fab SPECIAL

  • This is a beautiful song and there is something about it that keeps bringing me back to it. I think its her hypnotising voice. She sounds like she does when she was an adult and yet she was only 13 years old. R.I.P Judy Garland X x x X

  • I sometimes wish some parents would let their children be children. Judy was cute and she was talented but she had no childhood, this was work.

  • a beautiful child and great singer

  • omg 13 years old!! she sounds just like she did when she was an adult

  • Those eyes at 3:27 bore right through me. It makes me think someone did her wrong. She captures what it is to be a girl. This is something to be cherished and protected.

  • that picture is also at 1:03

  • Makes me very sad...to the point of tears.

The older I get, and the more Iknow the reality of the greed of man...the more I believe....people suck.

What a beautiful talent, and beaultiful girl.

She looks a lot like my friends 3 year old daughter.

    Just too sad to take.

  • Wow... she was only 13 when she sang that? She had a really mature voice for her age.

  • Wow! What a beautiful performance. I think this is the clearest and nicest I've ever heard her sing.

  • Just love Baby Gumm...

Never seen most of the pics before.

    What a voice...

  • Well, actually, it was the studio that played the biggest part in her drug addiction, with studio employed "doctors" providing her with ongoing cocktails of amphetimines and then sedatives to keep her working on their demanding schedule and then bring her down when they saw fit. If you had someone trying to regulate your energy level with medication on a constant basis, you would probably get addicted too, regardless of your religious convictions. Addiction is a sickness, not a punishment.

  • They also told her she was fat and gave her stuff to make her lose weight (when she was just an average-sized young girl) and encouraged her not to eat when she would come in to work. Poor Judy.

  • please dont tell me that god would have saved her! god is not what you think you are lost

  • Comment removed

  • So....she didnt know God, therefore she was messed up in drugs?

I dont think I have one person that claim they know God have any ability whatsoever to keep His comandment of loving one another, even as He loved us. Which is the key, as He loved us.

For you to not even try to feel what it must have been like to know your own mother wanted you aborted. Everyone (virtually) using you. Taken adavantage of and used. Who would you trust?

Whats that? cant imagine how that would be?

  • I love you, Frances!

Judy Garland would had lived a much happier life if she just had keeped her old name, dident take all those pills and lived a normal life.

She may had been the most talented. But her sisters were happier, (I think)

  • I don't think her mother would've let her lead a normal life. Don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard that she fulfilled all of her broken show biz thru Judy.

  • Actually, Judy's oldest sister unfortunately took her own life (while Judy was still alive) so I wouldn't necessarily say that they were happier.

  • Oh I am sorry to hear that about Verginia Gumm. Mary Jane Gumm (the middle child) was the last one to die. and Judy was the only one who had children.

They all died so young... R.I.P

  • I think Virginia Gumm (Jimmie) was the middle child, and Mary Jane (Suzy)was the eldest, who committed suicide in 1964, when Judy was 42. I am pretty sure that Jimmie did have children, a daughter that she called Judaleine (means 'little Judy')

  • Virginia was the middle child and she had a daughter named Judalein, named after Judy. There is a clip of Judy at her niece's birthday party (1939?) somewhere on YouTube. I'm still learning this stuff myself, so I know how confusing it can be. Especially since each of the sisters had like two or three names! :-)

  • Oh yes, I have seen that clip at the birthday party. Your right, it can be difficult the way they all change their names! I think the niece was initially named something else, but then legally changed her name to Judaleine?

  • Argh! Damn it! Sorry, my bad...

I thougth I had it great this time. Yes, it is so damn confusing with all there stupit nick names!

  • That's ok!

  • Thank for that! it is truely amazing!

  • I simply love the picture;your Clip.
