hi there, I'm in the starting stage of a flat belt drive shop. If you have the time could use some info on the speed of the main shaft to machine etc. do you live in Canada or the USA, thanks David well as for your video there is nothing like the sound of the belts.... and yes I've got the bug to.:)
I agree where's the guard on that circular saw? No riving knife or splitter as Americans say and when a leather belt breaks it can hit you in the face causing terrible injuries!
Probably likes restoring them better than using them because most of them are so dangerous. I love them too, and they were usually built very well, but back in the days when fingers and arms were cheap and guards were for sissies. You can add home made guards, but then they aren't "authentic". Nice to look at running in a museum, but unmodified, that's about it.
