you call that good riding???/ She learns forward WAY to much he hands are bumping around and you have no seat. If he was to shy you wwould be thrown off
I had riding lessons last night. The horse I ride Peppy was going faster than usual. He did 2 full laps of our arena cantering. And finally did a grid cantering and going fast enough.
@tuckertruthbetold if you think you're so great at riding then why arent you winning the gold medal in dressage at the weg like you act like you can instead of criticizing people on youtube? dickhead
Ah, this happened to me when I was in a lesson on a very lazy twelve hand pony lol xD and we were at the front and he isn't used to that. It was like trying to ride a bike in very strong winds - you still go very slow, no matter how much you nudge and kick :P
hes a little lazy i think but you need to kinda have a "hissy fit" on them i have an 18hh hanoverian and hes fabulous at everything but lazy as hell!!! good riding and i dont think your seats bad!!
Hello! I just wanted to invite you to my Horseback Riding Contest! I thought you would be a great entry! Just type in Ponygirl246 horseback riding contest!! PLZ ENTER!! THANKS!
yea your pumping is fine and once your horse learns to get better at the transitions, u wont have to pump, which is wayyy better. other than that, u did great!!!! have fun with him :)
its not bad that you are pumping. Pumping makes cantering easier for both you and the horse. You are moving with your horse and it makes it more comfortable!
Your horse is so cute and you're a really good rider:)
Trust me, I did a whole lesson on this about feeling your horse's rythum.
We have very stubborn horses. What we have to do is give them a couple of taps with the whip... well, smack really... it's not as bad as it sounds. If they don't listen, you have to 'loose your temper'. :S sort of...
Well, just try anbd sit more upright. Shoulders back, and squeeze with your leg. outside one back. Sit only a few strides before canter, and it's easier to canter on a corner ;)
If that doeesn't work, give him a few taps to wake him up.
Just a suggestion for your canter, try and follow him with your arms and keep your helmet centered (that's what my instructor always tells me). For the speed: Add your aids each time he takes a step (ex: there are three beats to the canter so on beat one add leg, beat two add leg, and on beat 3 add your whip but behind your leg.) Hope that helps!
Another thing that helps is puting more energy into what you do. I tried being very energetic and that got the horse to go, but they are different horses, so I guess you just have to learn your horse.
about the pumping thing-I have that problem with a horse named Able-My instructor said that he wasn't respecting my leg cues. I had to show him that I mean it, so she had me hit him behind the saddle with the crop.
I think in my case I have to completey relax because I tense up so often and so much it gets really bad. I used to think it was the proper way to ride so when I tried it I used to not get corrected as much.
lol yaa! it sucks free riding with tons of lessons going on....yaa..to prevent the oumping try to not sit soo deep it makes them go slower and makes u pump if ur on a lazy horse/pony ;D
1:20- 1:35 i saw you were leaning forward cuz he was pulling you if he does that try to move him forward and bring his head up. OTher than That great job!
Lol finally someone spots that! xD Thanks for the advice. Man watchign myself canter is hard because other people do it so well and here I am. I went from good to bad with my riding. Something just happend I dunno what. :P
aaha you think your position is bad? i dont think so. your a nice rider. lol im just getting in my new t/b mare. shes 16 hh but maaan a paing in da but!XD. ohh and a brand new english saddle:) i hope it all works out:)
Yeah my posting was bad because he was doing this thing where he'd put his head down. :P I dunno dude. How can we get Ty unlazy?! Even though he is like 18.
hmm, pumping's never really been a problem for me. As for advice, I guess I'd say try to lean back and seat deep in the saddle. Try pushing him forward with your hips and legs instead of your upper body.
thats the same thing with the pony i ride named Hotshot! hes the lasiest thing in the world! but at the canter he just takes off lol :D but my intructors tell me ot go into a half seat to stop me from pumping
nice riding! I rode a horse called Big Ted the other day. He's a murderer. When he was younger he was fighting with another horse and he killed them =O but hes not that bad now lol. I rode him the other day and he was SOO GOOD!! He;s never that good i even got him to canter 15 meter cirlce!TWICE YAY ME!!! lol XP
Great Job!!! XP but just a little advice next time you ride try putting a little more bend in your elbows so that your arms arent so stiff and straight!!!! please dont take that offensively im just trying to help! and what my trainer used to do for this girl who pumped was he stuck a crop inbeetween her arms so that it was touching her back and if she pumped it was very painful!! just some advice! it was SO cute at the very beggining when Ty was walking towards the camera!!
Lovely!

CadyD16 3 years ago
I think its quite a natural thing to pump when you go from quite a forward going horse to a lazier and slower horse :P
Probably once you get used to him you'll stop doing it :) My friend does it when she's nervous too lol... :P

Don't u think it's hard to post on a lazy horse? I find it a bit hard than riding a horse thats not lazy lol

Yeah my posting was bad because he was doing this thing where he'd put his head down. :P I dunno dude. How can we get Ty unlazy?! Even though he is like 18.
Mousenose 3 years ago
haha I know what cha mean! I've ridden so many lazy horses and it puts us off balance when we're barely in a trot and we have to keep kicking!
AddictedHorseRider 3 years ago
I know! I felt bad because I think I kept him going too much. Like I kpet asking him to go forward.
Mousenose 3 years ago
Ohh u shouldn't feel bad, he's lazy, he needs to be pushed on, lol! It's the same amount of work all the horses would get!
AddictedHorseRider 3 years ago
Yeah. Lol but I never like to hit a horse with a crop but dude I HAD to cause kicking would do nothing! He is a good boy though. :)
Mousenose 3 years ago
Horses have tough skin, giving them a tap on the shoulder with a crop, doesn't hurt them but they feel it and know the have to go forward! lol
