  • Dear Betty,

I noticed in a few of your videos where you make sugar syrup or caramel your sugar crystalizes. A tip that helped me avoid this was to use a sauce pan and add a little more water. Once your sugar is heated cover the pan and the steam will wash down the sides of the pan so that there are no sugar crystals left to fall into the syrup and crystalize it. That will take care of those pesky lumps of crystalized sugar in your syrup. I also encourage swirling of the pan to agitate the syrup

  • @ds41980 Thanks for those wonderful tips! I will definitely use them next time!

  • can i eat raw uncrushed sesame seeds?

can you eat uncrushed flax seeds?

  • @TheRogueMonk You may eat sesame seed and flax seeds raw; however, sesame and flax seeds are difficult to chew well so they remain largely indigestible.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen if i grind them can they get digested? .. i dont have a coffy grinder :/

  • @TheRogueMonk If they are ground they will be smaller, but I don't know that that will make them digestible.

  • you very cute

  • thank you

  • GOOD JOB..THANX

  • Hi Betty If you put a lid on the pot after the sugar begins to melt the moisture that builds up on the lid will drip back down and keep your sugar from seizing up. Swirl the pan rather than trying to stir it. This Sesame Brittle does look yummy. I might make a batch for movie night with my sis. Thanks

  • @mukwah1111 Thanks for the great tips!

    --Betty :)

  • I think if you use honey than the sugar it is better. I made it today with Honey and it is yumy.

  • It looks delicious. I'm going to try making it with black sesame seeds.

  • they look delicious. we buy something similar in the uk. theyre little biscuits made with sesame seeds sunflower seeds and raisins. plus condensed milk and honey is added to bind them together. do you think you would be able to find a similar recipe? they cost so much to buy and would love to make some for my children. definately will be making your recipe though. thank you.

  • Oh, I like this idea. I am going to make this for a candy topping to go on ice cream... I think it would be so nice that way for the summer. Thanks again for something DIFFERENT!

  • Great recipe!! I just gave you my vote for OWN good luck!!

  • Glad you offer this recipe...

Have to be careful of those sesame brittle candies that you buy in the stores. I looked on the ingredients (from our stores) and there was High Fructose Corn Syrup (genetically modified ingredient).

  • thanks a lot for the recepie. This is also called Til Chikki in India and it is eaten mainly during the kite flying festival. ALso,you add silvers of almonds inf it to make it more tasty. Apart frm that, if you donot have peanut alergy , then you can make peanut candies in the similar way which is called sing dana chikki. (called Peanut brittle).
