  • So how you do this?

  • wow :)

  • how much voltage to i need it to run?

  • @DailyFlux

I think 12 VDC for Hard Disk run

  • Very cool! Keep up the good work!

  • is it still able to be used in a pc? because that would be freaking beast!

  • @masteircheef Sure you can connect it but of course it wont store anything. It's a huge frikkin jack in the plate

  • mask rider belt

  • for the seconds

  • the pointer is in the wrong site

  • Aren't you afraid that thing will break apart and shoot shrapnel everywhere?

  • what clock work backwards?!

  • @HODOROGU time machine

  • This was really nice, i wounder if you trick around with it can you actually make it show digits ?

Like 12:34 etc if you place LED´s in a square pattern or something ?

  • some day If I will work hard I'll make some difficult thing too

  • Why the clock is working anti-clockwise? WTF

  • NICE work bro :D

  • this vid is awesome.. great work man :D

  • aliens

  • thats fucking BAD ASS!!!

  • WTFUCK IS THAT!!!!

  • 1:50 simon!!

  • why your clock works backward? :p

  • đẹp thật...để mình nghiên cứu 1 cái giống thế xem sao

  • you sound like charlie sheen ;)

  • Thats very cool ianorg. Now do one with a notebook hard drive. ;)

  • WHAT TIME IS IT HUN ? WHAAAT I CANT HEAR YA

  • 2:30 It's only cool when all three colors match up :P

  • if chuck norris clicks on the youtube button, that will be the end of youtube

  • Thanks for this idea

  • Great!! Tinkering like this is pure innovation. I challenge the haters to understand any of this.

  • Nice try, porn hider :P

  • loud clock

  • Time travel :O clock is going backwards.

  • haha voicer of Steve jobs

  • @Amaroqdricaldari A drive's head floats 5-10 nanometer above the platters, if dust comes between the header and the platter, the head will crash.

There already is a hard disk with a built in window, Western Digital's Raptor X.

  • The clock runs counter-clockwise.

  • @MKahn84 Just reverse the electric current going through the motor. Then it will go clockwise.

What would be awesome would be an Optical Disk Drive or Hard-Disk with a Motor that could spin in either direction.

  • That's Badass!

  • I wonder what was on that disk that made him do this...

  • Add a Yellow LED

Also, will the Hard-Disk still work? Because it would be a shame to waste a perfectly good storage device

Unless you have a MUCH better one

  • @Amaroqdricaldari Also, see if you can get a 7200 RPM Motor for that thing.

  • @Amaroqdricaldari are you stupid? lmao... first of all, an open harddisk = dead due to dust that ruins it, 2nd of all.. he cut in it... of course it doens't work anymore..

  • wow, very amazing!!!!!!!

  • what's the shadow I can see spinning around?

  • @TheGeologyRocker the shadow is caused from the camera. if he filmed with a better camera with a higher frame rate it wouldnt happen

  • LOUD FUCKING CLOCK HA

  • This is so sickk,, Wow,,, great example of geniusnesss!!!

  • Oh wow. I wonder if the noise is just because of the drive or the air being broken from the slot you cut in.

  • чётко

  • how much will it cost to make one ship it to me

  • This is fantastic. Could you use it as a bedside clock?

  • @jeffrey44 of course! As long as you don't mind the constant wwwhhhhiiiiiirrrrrrrrrr!

  • @gollumondrugs

I do mind that. Maybe I will give this idea a miss. It just isn't practical.

  • superb

  • Dont think i will be hanging it up on my wall

  • Now that is cool.

  • lol i dont want a clock that sound like a jet plate in me bedroom

  • Give a guy some Legos and he creates a skyscraper . Toss him a dead hard drive and he builds a clock with it. That right there is genius at work.

  • thats great!

  • red and green make yellow? wtf did i miss?

  • @xGothimox Turning up your volume for one. ;-)

  • wow that's awesome

  • @Surabpachida It no longer functions as a hard drive, it's just art now. Won't be covered.

  • @Surabpachida wow... you are a real dumbass... you know that???

  • @Surabpachida fail badly,cry sadly :D

  • @lolzvid huh?

  • this is the same technology they used to use in mechanical televisions

  • super cool brother

  • Maybe next time, this baby can tell the time and, store the data at the same time.

  • Neat, but noisy as hell

  • This clock isn't backwards; normal clocks are. Quadrants in a coordinate plane are numbered "counter-clockwise", with the quadrant I as the top-right, quadrant II as the top-left, quadrant III as the bottom-left, and quadrant IV as the bottom-right. Therefore, counter-clockwise is considered a positive motion, which makes a clock going counter-clockwise make sense, because time going forward can also be considered a positive motion. I know many of you will disagree with me, but it's the truth.

  • @ParadeChili not necessarily as the principle of the proper order of quadrants was written by a person, the judgement of what is right is up to the discrimination of the observer.

  • @zRev1983 And seeing as the English language was conceived by a group of people, the judgement of what it means is up to the discrimination of the user. I therefore take your comment to be in agreement with my own. :)

  • hypnotic...

  • I WANT IT!

  • wrong way second hand

  • Does the rotating disc part of the clock serve any purpose besides making it appear darker?

  • You don'n have to worry it wont wake you up in the morning...

  • Oh my god... O_O ITS AWESOME.

  • would it work if you slowed it down? bit noisey at that kind of rpm

  • Gentleman... Theres the final piece that the Delorean from "Back to the Future" uses as a time controller behind Flux Compacitor and Mister Fusion!

  • super bueno este video

  • this is very cool.please can we see your control circuit

to power the leds. How many leds are there under the disk?

  • LOL its going the wrong way XDDD

  • @pkmaster650 It's not.. Its just the frame rate of the camera not keeping up.. x)

  • @FastBuffGaming It's nothing to do with the camera if you watch it all the way through you'll see it 's going the wrong way, It's not the camera reversing it -_-

  • @pkmaster650 Hmmm,

  • EVEN I CANT bear my door clocks tic tac sound how do I use this and its going counterclockwise

  • wow - amazing!!

    some kind of a summerproject...

  • why is it going backwards?

  • "What time is it?"

    "It's purple past green"

  • @mrassbandit23 HAHAHAHAH

  • @mrassbandit23 hahaah you made me laugh !!

  • @mrassbandit23 LOL MI HIRO

  • 1:50 is my color wheel for my DLP TV lmao

  • @mrassbandit23 LMAO!!!!

  • @mrassbandit23 LOLLED HAHA

  • You are the man!!!

  • touch it

  • Nhy gleeven!

  • How long do you belive it will last due to the cut imbalance in the drivedisk...

  • Wow Amazing!!

  • Geile HDD wie geht das?

  • its too fast

  • nice thinking, clever!!!1

  • Other than it being rather quick in its definition of a second, this was pretty neat. :)

  • Nice

  • 57 people are Mormon and hate computers

  • amazing dude

  • bet ya wont put your finger in it

  • Anyone else say "Woah" at 2:23 ?

  • i want one

  • Can it play Crysis? :)

  • you are genius

  • But will it blend?

  • i just wonder...what will happens with the files on it... :-L

  • imagine how would it be to sleep whit this stupid clock i your room hahaha

  • WOW cool

  • I don't even know how I got to this video. I think I clicked on a plane crash video and then I eventually I got here.

  • can you do this with a ssd drive

  • @espnchris only chuck norris can this :D

  • @ianorg could you make it a watch?

  • its sick but...useless...O.o

oh and its pretty beautiful :D

  • it was hard to buy a clock or u just have too much time and don't have a girlfriend???

i mean WTF IS GOOD FOR????THE WINDOWS HAVE CLOCK TOO....XD:D

  • DANCE PARTY!!! lol 2:22

  • Is there any chance that you have the the microcontroller file for the clock ?

  • creative:D

  • Now that's making good use of a bad sector. sorry can't resist

  • it's noisy because the platter is out of balance with the slot he cut into it

  • WHEEL...OF...FORTUNE!!!!

  • WHY?

  • amazing

  • a friend of mine got a toy fan for his daughter that was almost like that except you could program it to display words you should make yours display words too. something like YOUR GAY or I NEVER GET LAID or I NEED TO GET OUT MORE! just a thought

  • mate i think by touching it you just f*cked it right up...

  • It would make a good alarm clock , It wouldnt let u sleep

  • Why is it going backwards ? XD

  • @jancsiba5 maybe the video is mirrored or something..

  • This is awesome

    check my channel.........

  • very clever, but it goes backwards and it doesn't tell the time!

  • @rastarecords3 the display is backwards cause of his webcam and it tells the time if you're mildly savvy

  • Very cool.

  • why is it going counter clockwise?

  • @10OchrisO01 ist a demo,they will fix this

  • @10OchrisO01 Time is going backwards.

  • @10OchrisO01 the camera is in mirror mode. everything is backwards

  • @10OchrisO01 ITs not... it is going counter clockwise because ... test filming a driving car... or a fan... it will always go counter clockwise or in the other direction as its really going... it depends on the fps of the camera... you can wiki it. ^^

  • @kocy33 look again at :37 The CLOCK is going counter clockwise.

  • @fetymann yes because of the camera. 25 fps revert normally clockwise fast movement.

  • @kocy33 So you're telling me the red second hand of the clock is going counter clockwise because of the camera? really?? Think about that.

  • @fetymann This dude just made a harddrive into a fuckin LED clock!!!....are you REALLY expecting him to accidentally make it go backwards...Dumbasses!

  • @laner2281 It certainly looks like the clock is backwards! If the seconds appear to be at 45 seconds, is it really at 15 seconds? I understand what you're saying, it's the wagonwheel effect with the camera. But this isn't that.

  • @fetymann again, the dude has OBVIOUSLY got a better understanding of all things technological! I dont know what makes you think that after the 1000's of hours making this contraption, hes realised "Oh Fuck Gleeven! I built it backwards!! ha hoi!"

  • @laner2281 If the seconds appear to be at 45 seconds, is it really at 15 seconds? TELL ME!!!!!!!

  • @fetymann Dude, i dont know shit about LED's, Hardrives, Physics or cameras for that matter...All i know is THIS dude made a fuckin cool clock using all the abovementioned ingredience! What the fuck have YOU made? sit back enjoy the goddamn pretty lights! lmao!

  • @10OchrisO01 australian clock... :D

  • @10OchrisO01 i was thinking the camera was using the revers thing like during a web chat but the text on the little screen was the right way :/

  • @10OchrisO01 cuz he has the Drive upside down...

  • @10OchrisO01 don't some cameras record a flipped image?

  • @10OchrisO01 because it's a counter clock

  • @10OchrisO01 Did it occur to you that maybe the hard drive is spinning counter clockwise, and if you were to turn it upside down you had to remove all the circuit boards?

  • @ehurtig006 he means why was the CLOCK ticking counterclockwise...

  • @10OchrisO01 many cameras actually mirror the footage.

  • So what's the capacity 60Gb :) ? - nice work!

  • That is the most awesome thing I've ever seen!!

  • Forive my ignorance, but how do you power the LEDs? Are you using a slip ring (rotary connector)? If not, what's your trick? Thanks.

  • @panekmi2 I think that the LEDs aren't on the disk but under it so they are not attached to the disk. Forget my bad english...

  • Omg its a f*cking time machine to the past time :D Your clock is moving counterclockwise xD

  • Is that a 6000RPM drive then?

  • umm...question...i studied electric physics when i was about 14 and even built some circuits...but i went as deep as around half a dozen working practical projects, but i never got to the "integrated" level, so to say...so, i initially said "question": an IDE hard drive has two power ratings. am i correct if i assume that the 5 V are for the circuitry and the 12 V for the electric motor?

  • @longbow192 That's correct, 12V for the engine (engine requires more power) and 5V for the circuitry :)
