Is there a book about styles, raags, "Madhuvanti"???

then I'd enjoy it much more-to listen with at least bit more awareness!!!

Afg. stores may sell a book by Ustad S. which was publised & edited by M.A. Asir. name of book is "Qanoone Tarab".

It has a breif history of Ustad and then comes his explaination of history Afghan/Indian classic music and then he describe the Raggas, Sur,Tot, Alab, Khyal and 7 Usool. of music.

He also talks about tals and lai" which is an organized movement of Tabla"

end of the book is some news paper clips and one of his many poetry.
