Hello... We are composing a tribute song for the anniversary of the black Saturday fires.. We are sampling some real sounds and are looking for any news reels or commentary from the events.. Could you be of any help?
True Heros I experienced a fire just out of ballarat in mt Helen and I thought that was bad but to experience black Saturday would have been 10000 times worse so I thank all of you volunteers and CFA who helped fight them fires on that eery day.
the earlier footage is on my dads farm so for all u people who said they were in the fires when all they could see was smoke u dont know wat it was like... the first footage was before it actually came acoss our paddocks from the bunyip river
well done firies for yr brave effort putting out a huge fire when the strong winds make it even hotter and unbearble. i know how it feels have been there myself except the temp was only 3 degrees cooler but the hot winds made up for even hotter temps. horrible scary feeling.camping will never be the same. but it hasnt put me off appreciating the bush and mothers nature fury . we need to adapt whilst staying safe the best we can.
can anyone tell me about the fire trucks and what kind of protection they offer in a fire, I assume special heat proof glass, is the petrol tank specially protected? The CFA do an absolutely amazing job, I have been through Ash Wednesday and Yea fires as a child and you wouldnt get me going anywhere near one! You are very special people
Most brigades have a different fire tanker (truck). The brigade I'm with currently has the newest model fire truck, which is equipped with heat shields around the windows and sprinklers around the outside of the tanker.
Thats not going to stop it, It will melt the wheels even from 50m away seeing as it gets to about 3000 degrees. people get cremated at 1000. If its that bad they carnt do much to stop it.
i would like to say thank you for the job you guys have and are doin to protect other peoples property and lives it is absolutely oustanding and keep it up with out you guys we would have been in alot more strife
As a CFA vol in this footage I would like to say thank you to all those who have expressed their appreciation for what we are doing. I don't know what else to say except thank you.
You have to stay calm though. If you panic, you're in trouble. Don't forget that we train for this all year round. You also know that you have a top quality team of people with you, backing you up.
I have allot of respect for you guys, thank you for all the the time and effort you put into fighting the bush fires Including putting your own life's at risk. Please stay Safe Take care.
you guys are our aussie heros, hope it all ends soon for yas. Think it b the rest of the countrys shout when it all over at the pub for a well deserved beer. love 2 yas
I will warn you that the pay is lousy, but in the end the rewards are great.
Just dont get sucked into this hype and BS that the media try to portray us as heroes etc. We are just normal everyday people turning the red stuff black.
I've only been in for 7 years, but I'd agree with everything you said mate. There are no heroes on CFA trucks, no room for them. The end result is that you get to be part of the best group of people you'll ever meet. The friends you make through brigade are amazing. If you're thinking of joining, my advice is to do it.
Well done guys and girls, you have done yourselves proud. I am horrified at what has happened to Victoria, but we can look at you and see that there is good out there too.
People around the world will see your vids and you can be sure they will see that you are all heroes.
Keep up the good work and those of us who are out here wish you all the best and hope that you all come through this in one piece.
God bless firefighters. Without them, more lived could have been lost. What a tragic day for Victoria. I'm from Melbourne, and hope and wish for the best.
You guys are amazing, i hope someone passes on the comments posted on here and i say bloody good job guys, So so much work and effort and putting your safety on the line for our communities. Thank you so much for being so ready willing and more than able, u guys arent done yet, we know, and we feel for you and your families who must be missing you terribly. I hope our words of support help a little and u guys deserve a lot more than we could ever give, Thanks guys.

Just watching the plumes of smoke grow and grow until you could see actual flames sent chills down my spine. It's scary to watch.
Things that aren't scary to watch: the calm and efficient way the CFA members go about the business of fighting fires. You're all amazing.

Well done guys and gals, and we are all praying for you.
