I really enjoy these episodes and look forward to KITUMBA coming out. I hope it is still going to come out as I have kept watching the trailer for it and am anxious to see it. It makes me want to see it even more.Is it still coming out and do you have any idea when it will be coming out for viewing?Signed A real big Star Trek fan.
Enemy Fleet Rocks!!!! Greaqt episode. Hi Pony. Not sure if you remember me. The Heavy guy from Mass? You were working on the beam down sequence for Kitumba when we chatted. Very cool stuff!!! Thanks again for your demo reel. Show it to everyone here! Love the Hat commercial!! :-)
KITUMBA is not shelved exactly, but there's still a lot of post work to be done on it, AND there are three other episodes that still have to be finished before KITUMBA is released.
In fact, in only seven more days, ENEMY: STARFLEET hits the public! (It's really a good episode!)
@PonyHorton Good to know...I'm particularly excited to see this one. OK....I'm excited to see ALL of them....I frequent the Phase II boards (though I haven't posted in a while). A post on there seemed to indicate the problems with the episode may be "insurmountable"....
One of my saddest days was getting hired at my new job a few years back. It meant I had to turn down volunteering that summer for Phase II and I had just been accepted!...
When is Kitumba, Part I, going to be released? With an episode being released at a rate of one a year, and "The Child" being expected to be released this December, it could be as late as the end of 2012 before both parts of "Kitumba" are ready for viewing.
By the way, wasn't the 1970's-era Phase II Enterprise model design and interiors going to be used from "The Child" onwards? Whatever happened to that idea? Too expensive to implement?
@basherman69 Kitumba is NOT a two-parter, it's a a single episode. Although I can't give you an exact date, I can say that much of KITUMBA is finished, although I'm still doing matte shots for it. As I've said, I'm pedalling as fast as I can! It really is mostly down to just a few final visual effects shots (my department), and the audio sweetening.
KITUMBA will be out sooner than you think!
I don't know what the thoughts behind the ship refit designs are, though. Not my department. Sorry.
@PonyHorton The original "Kitumba" for the 1970s series was supposed to be a two-parter. that's why I had assumed Cawley's version would be a two-parter.
Thanks for the clarification.
With the release of a webisode every 12 months, and "The Child" being the next scheduled episode this December (?), are you saying "Kitumba may be released sooner that December, 2011? Is the promise of releasing more than one episode per year finally going to be realized?
It will be released as soon as the visual effects and editing are finished, most likely within a few more weeks/months. I can't give you an exact date, but I will say that there is one other episode due out BEFORE Kitumba, VERY soon. Remember, we do all this work WITHOUT PAY, and many of us work a regular job or film industry jobs and that takes top priority. I'm PEDALLING as fast as I can to get my effects shots done, but I have no control over the rest.
Exactly what is wrong with the Klingon emblem? Looks pretty Klingon to me, and since I play a Klingon on the show, I think I have some pretty good background on it.
@PonyHorton Well first off there is a Professional version of the Klingon Emblem (see Star Trek 6) and a sloppy, unprofessional version which is the one in this clip. If you really look at it you will notice the difference. So what do you mean you play a Klingon on the show? What show are you referring to? Are you an actor? Where can I see you in action? Cool!
As a Trek fan I love watching the crew fight Klingons as much as the next person but honestly, where are some of the other 'bad guys' of the Trek universe?
I hope that J. Cawley will give us different adversaries later in the series.
If they had gone and done this back in the '70s, and if it were me to cast a performer to play the role of Ksia, I'd look no further than to get Toshiro Mifune to play him. In fact, Phillip Kaufman wanted him to play a Klingon opponent for his jetisoned STAR TREK film.
Mifune would have been an interesting K'sia. I will say though, I think I did a pretty damn good job with the role! My idea was Anthony Hopkins in MASK OF ZORRO, so I kinda played him like that.
@PonyHorton How about when Nicholas Meyer had Jack Palance in mind to play the part of Chancellor Gorkon in TUC. I think Gorkon would've carried more weight by an actor like him.
@PonyHorton My apologies. I was merely illustrating that a Japanese actor would've carried weight for the role. I had no idea you played the character. But I'm not familiar with your work.
@Bla31n No need to apologize... few if ANY people know my work.... YET!!!!
If you want to see more of my own films, click on my name.
If you want to see my "professional" acting, I've done a number of commercials over the last 30 years. Most recently, I was an extra in THE TERMINAL; I played the character of Mr. Spivey on four episodes of THE LAIR (HereTV) second season; and most recently played K'Sia in STAR TREK: PHASE II's episode KITUMBA.
We're doing post production right now. I'm actually about to create some Transporter shots for the film this week. Hopefully the film should be released sometime in the next few months.

Who says we're FIGHTING the Klingons in this episode? It just might be FAR more interesting than merely fighting with them...

That is beyond cool. One Federation starship, and literally thousands of Klingon warships...
Yeah, Kirk could take 'em all ;)
