  • Sinclair does in fact care,

You guys who think that $10 an hour is too much are elitist bastards. Minimum wage shoudl be cost indexed and raise every year and People should be able to live on the money they make without working 2 and 3 jobs.

  • My employer can't afford to pay me more than 8$ and hour. If the minimum wage is raised to 10$ then i'll loose my job.

Your forgeting that most people that get minimum are teenagers like me looking for a summer and a weekend job.

If you raise minimum wage alot of poor people and teenagers will loose there jobs.

  • @simontimon2

a lot of people are working 3 jobs to support their families. The cost of living for adults keeps increasing if you are a kid living at home maybe it makes no difference but for those having to support you it does....Sad that we are unable to see past our own situations and consider the many who cannot survive on the min wage

  • And your solution to that problem is for those people to loose there job that they need to support their family.

5% of the population works at minimum that doesn't seem to represent a "many people"

And most of them are teenagers.

  • When your employer says he cannot pay you he is making an excuse, his pockets are deeper than he is letting on, Where I lived in BC the fast food restaurants were begging for help the youth went through them like flies, lasting a week if that. Perhaps you are the exception to the rule.

  • As I said perhaps you did not understand, you may, living under your parents roof be able to sustain your self with pocket change, however you try to pay for rent, utilities food and gas and your wages will not cover the cost to live on your own.. is that the solution...

I am extremely opinionated I was on my own at age 16 supporting myself with no extras at the end of the month, It was bleak. Minimum wage should at least pay the bills. You do the math living on your own.

  • So you want me to lose my job.

  • no, I do not want you to lose your job. I want to pull families out of poverty. Do not put words in my mouth.

Think about others as well as yourself, Do you live with Mom and Dad? count yourself lucky.

  • whatamiwhoami: "no, I do not want you to lose your job"

Of course you don't but that will be the unintended effect of an increase in minimum wage. Your "good intentions" are worthless. The only thing that matters are the real-world results of a policy when put it's put into practice and in that respect the data is clear, minimum wage laws increase unemployment among unskilled workers.

  • 2 years later the politicians are fatter and the poor are weaker and we still have not raised the wage...go figure.

  • What do you mean, the average wage is higher then ever.

You do know that large corporation love minimum wage law because small busness which can't afford to pay their employees more go out business, eliminating the competition.

So when you raise the minimum wage what your really doing is making those corporate fat cats even fater.

  • I really see no point in arguing with you, A good employer doesn't need a union, and a small business will do well if they have proper management, Do a little bit of homework, how old are you and who feeds you the information you spout? Check your facts. Now I really am through debating with you. Enjoy your day.

  • The role of government is to maintain the rule of law, nothing else.

It is not the role of government to point a gun to an emloyers and force them to do what they want them to do.

If you want to see real porverty go to africa.

  • I see all the people who gives me the thumbs down....well, the truth sucks, eh?

  • Our Families have worked tireless hours for hundreds of years to help build the rich country we have now. We didn't do it so a small few could take the biggest cut of the pie.

$10 is the poverty line, and we have to fight for it in one of the richest and most civilized nations in the world. I signed, but I think the root of this problem is larger than the shamefulness of our minimum wage.

  • Jim Sinclair does not care about you. All he wants is for you to join a union and get inflated wages so you give him his cut. The unions use fear and intimidation to get what they want.

  • Gordon Cambell does not do your job because he is educated - you can not compare your skills and training to his and ask for what he gets. He did not set your wages, the free market did.

  • Your wages are based on your lack of skills and lack of education - there are NO other

    factors.

  • Uh, the government didn't "freeze" wages.

Poll shows 70% of people are economically illiterate.

Gasp! Politicians are greedy? We sure didn't know that! Thanks for the scoop!
