  • Nice loco, is that a soundtraxx sound decoder?

  • @racerx1552 No, it's a ESU Loc Sound decoder. Bachmann Europe fit these as standard to their UK sound on board loco's. This one, i've had the speaker upgraded to a bass reflex one & a small tweeter speeker fitted extra too. Sound recording on the decoder, as supplied from Bachmann.

  • its not moving?

  • @fatwalletboy2 See towards the end of the video, when the brake is released. Main point of the video is to show various DCC sound features on this model.

  • Hi. I change the original speaker without enclosure to bass reflex fitted in fuel tank. I thought about putting more speakers but have the issue of impedance. Two speakers in parallel = 50 ohms force the decoder and not suitable to use the volume on 64. So I left only the bass reflex speaker. In the future, I'll try to put three more small speakers to give the right impedance = 100 Ohms.

    Regards.

  • I am aware you sent this loco to olivias for some work but did they actually reblow it with their sounds or does it still have the bachmann recording on the chip they just put in twin speakers? Sorry to be a pain and ask so many questions im trying to choose what sound chip to get for my 37, because im not keen on the howes ones as the horn is really strange and high pitched.

  • @infernodood3 It's the Bachmann sound recording, but fitted with bass reflex & also tweeter speaker(s).

  • is that olivias trains sound or howes?

  • @infernodood3 as per video discription, Olivia's.

  • I would love to be able to afford fitting mine with sound .Real nice

  • @kered43 Hattons are doing a Bachmann class 24 or 25 ( can't remember which one, but it's one of these) for around £121 with DCC sound. One of the cheapest i've seen in a while.

  • @ay76 Thanks but you can probably tell from my videos that most of the things i get are donated to me. £121 is like winning the lottery for me but i can dream and watch videos like yours thanks Derek Kered43.

  • @kered43 May be the old save up thing i guess. Your layout's looking great :-) regards.

  • I have a hornby class 37 how can i fit sound to it and were can i get the sound unit or wat is it that makes the sound

  • @956alanc For what it would cost to get the sound decoder & fitting (around £110) you'd possibly be better buying one of the DCC (sound fitted) fitted versions by Bachmann (for the class 37). Other wise try the likes of Howes of Oxford, Olivia's trains (Sheffield), mr sound guy, south west digital, DCC supplies amongst many that are now doing DCC sound decoders. The sound unit is a DCC decoder with speaker(s) attached.

  • hey buddy can you get the sound in just dc or does it have to be dcc

  • @956alanc DCC, but Hornby's DCC sound range of loco's will work on DC, with limited sound. Cheers.

  • really nice, love the sound, am hopely getting a dcc sound loco on Christmas from hornby, as my first one

  • @itgamer100 Cool.No idea when i'll get my next DCC sound loco. Lets hope that the forth coming budget isn't gonna bugger things up for us all, austerity time is a coming me thinks :-(

  • Now that's a much better sound chip than one's I've heard previously. I want that model I think.

  • It's the same Bachmann sound decoder, but has had it's speaker removed & replaced by a bass reflex & also a tweeter speaker. Cheers.

  • Handsome beast! Fav colour scheme for the '37s, except maybe EW&S maroon and gold. How do you get the manual throttle changes to work? I recently aquired the Railfreight 37/5 (37693) with the standard Bachmann sound unit and the manual changes either don't work or happen when not required. At the moment the functions in question are not set to latching. Would this be the cause?

  • Yes the 37, really does look like it means the biss in this livery. Try setting the functions to latching, that should work. I'm using the Hornby Elite controller. There is a delay in the notching up once you select that function. I've some times found whilst driving it around the layout, & select notch up nothing happens, so could be the latching thing. Cheers.

  • Excellent. I shall go and have a 'drive' and see if I can get to grips with my 'tractor', after all I am from Somerset! Will let you know if things go well or not. Thanks for the advice

  • Okay, keep me posted :-) Cheers.

  • i see you got A Clayton Class 17 diesel in Ribble Cement Livery

That is one of my Favourite Trains

  • Cool, it's one i hope to get round & see the real thing at some point. Pleased to say this one works just fine. Heljan have now sorted out the prob's on this model.

    Cheers.

  • Is that one of Olivia`s fitting? sounds good

  • The sound is Bachmann, but the twin speakers are Olivia's one of which is a bass reflex one :-) Cheers

  • great one! im thinking of going DCC, and getting sound! 5*

  • Thank you. I'm sure you'll really like the DCC sound when you do get it. Great stuff. Cheers.

  • You have some good stock. I like the sound!

  • Thank you. Only a small portion of the fleet has appeared on my video's. Hope to get around & film the rest over the coming years. Cheers.

  • 2 x 23 ml speakers in the tanks produces a better sound for the 37 in most peoples experience. The base speaker produces a deeper sound (not as good in exhibition use), but all that have heard my comparison locos (2 x 23 + base reflex fitted) have said its the 23ml twins that produce the best sound from "THIS" sound chip. The bachmann 37 with propper speaker set up has come out on top in terms of best sond chip too compared to howes 37 for most. Best result is to have one of each (at least!)

  • Hi, many thanks for the info. Love that mass start up video you did :-). I'll have to try one of the Howes decoders in one of my other 37's at some point, for comparison. Kind regards. Cheers.

  • Great sound, cant wait to get the speaker in my class 37

  • Well worth it, cheers.

  • i saw these in rolling stock look fantastic

  • Cheers.

  • Do you fit all of your interior and head/tail lights your self or did you buy them already done beacuse the man at my local model shop seems to think you cant buty hornby trains with interior lights, Thank you 5*'s

  • there are a few trains with lights, but not all hornby trains do

  • The Hornby all new HST comes with interior cab lighting (as does the pullman coaches). There is a quite few loco's in the hornby range that have working head & tail lights. cheers.

  • great video

  • Thank you. cheers.

  • Sounds Great ... looks Great and moves well.

    good video too

  • Thank you. Should of put it in Shunting mode really, but hay ho. Cheers.

  • MUCH BETTER! excellent!

  • :-) cheers.

  • Hi, I like the deeper sound, the class 37 I have hashad the chip reprogramed by Howes of Oxford, better sound.

  • I think the Bass reflex speakers at some point should be fitted as standard in the DCC sound on board models. Only time will tell if the RTR makers will go for it or not, hope they do like. Cheers.

  • Nice, How much did it cost?

  • BEAST!

  • cool man i realy want some diesels

  • :-) Cheers.

  • sounds great! 5*

  • When i fired it up after having the speaker fitted, it was like wow!!

  • That sounds so much better m8!

  • The differance is amazing. Cheers.

  • Nice thrash :)

  • My Lordzzz!!!!! :-) Cheers.
