my dog is a bichon that i got from a breeder, in a home in a suburban area. is there a difference from a breeder with one dog that he's breeding and a puppy mill with a bunch of dogs? im pretty sure this is a stupid & obvious question, but really, any difference from a breeder and puppy mill farmer?
@MsNegative24 definately there is a huge difference. breeders have only one or two dogs & give their dogs love and free space to room, inside or outside a house. puppy mills have dozens and dozens of dogs who are locked up they're whole entire life. they put like three dogs in one cage and the cages are stacked on top of each other. there's a good chance that your local puppy store buys their puppies from pup mills. but i got my dog from a breeder too. breeders are good.

My friend has a dog that was a puppy mill survivor, it was abandoned and found on the side of a high way and it was rescued, then my neighbor adopted her. I adopted my two dogs from foster owners. It just is cruel to see all those dogs being treated like machines, and not living animals.
As for reputable breeders. They're are a few. If you want a certain breed you can find them at shelter and you can also look up rescues made for them like *jack russel rescue" that whole spiel

It's so sad how everybody's horrified about the Holocaust but don't even care that this is happening all around the world to so many animals. Personally I pity the owners of puppy mills. Think about it. I'd rather those people heal and stop what they're doing, not burn in hell. What poor minds they must have to do such things. What poor sick, sick hearts they must have. I'd rather they be healed and better themselves.

@theonlyzdog your right there, I wish they would wake up to the horror of what they are doing and become advocates to stop it, in the same way this lady realised she needed to rescue instead of support the puppy mill industry. This is the only way things can truely change for the better, by changing hearts, and turning to love.

poor thing, i never wanted to have a poodle because i thought they were silly dogs until i got a toy poodle for my mum, now i completely changed my mind cos hes the most intelligent dog we ever owned. who ever treats animals bad must be jailed for over 10 years for sure, not mentioning abuse on people were life sentence should be given as well as for murder!!!!!

It's so sad how everybody's horrified about the Holocaust but don't even care that this is happening all around the world to so many animals. Just because their not as intelligent as us doesn't mean that they don't have a conciousness and feelings. Of course, humans do not have the right to do this to animals. I think this is still happening because of lack of knowledge or empaty.
