For all those wondering the distance they are firing from: the number above "Recording" at bottom left is the range to target. Generally it's around 700 meters to 1.2 kilometers.
Airspeed and height are also shown as the numbers below and to the left and right of the crosshairs respectively.
Rounds from the chain gun normally are 30mm HEDP (High Explosive Dual Purpose) which has a lethal radius of roughly 10 feet.
This is an apache longbow helicopter. and the reason why the 30mm cannon doesnt seem accurate when fired is because of the barrel moving when fired. It's hard to stabalize a gun that's firing a large piece of lead/explosive down range and on a helicopter that's suposed to be agile... As for the rounds fired. they explode when they hit there target and therefore are like small grenades like the mark 19 grenade luncher the ground pounders use. so it doesnt have to have perfect accuracy

Besides the only reason the US/UN stopped in Korea and not try to totally try to annihilate North Korea was because they would have ended up in direct conflict with the Soviets and the Chinese. For all those wondering the distance they are firing from: the number above "Recording" at bottom left is the range to target. Generally it's around 700 meters to 1.2 kilometers.
Airspeed and height are also shown as the numbers below and to the left and right of the crosshairs respectively.
Rounds from the chain gun normally are 30mm HEDP (High Explosive Dual Purpose) which has a lethal radius of roughly 10 feet.

This is an apache longbow helicopter. and the reason why the 30mm cannon doesnt seem accurate when fired is because of the barrel moving when fired. It's hard to stabalize a gun that's firing a large piece of lead/explosive down range and on a helicopter that's suposed to be agile... As for the rounds fired. they explode when they hit there target and therefore are like small grenades like the mark 19 grenade luncher the ground pounders use. so it doesnt have to have perfect accuracy

One must remember how fast and which direction these guys are moving... It is a very difficult shot to pull off. The gunner has to act in sync with the pilot and adjust how he is aiming to suit the situation; moving left to right, right to left, whatever the case may be.
