  • If I lived in India, Kris, then this would be my ride. It's huge inside, it's locally made, and it's got something the moderns can't match: good old-fashioned character!

  • sounds like at matador engine in it

  • hey a malayalee

  • these remind me of a checker marathon! ( those old school NY taxi cabs)

  • when i see a film or something about india,i always see this car

  • maybe because is very very very common XD

  • @MaurizioM89

    si l'ho notato XD

  • i know seriously right?

  • @Reallaty

    what?i didn't understand what do u want

  • i said yes i also see this car in an indian video

  • @Reallaty

    ah ok,maybe in indiana jones

  • all ambassador fans , please click on me and see the new ambassador grand video

  • cool car and with modern drive train, it would be a winner...:)

  • You can actually buy them brand new in the UK. a private company in wales imports them. they have Isuzu petrol/ LPG or diesel. I'd love one, but couldnt quite justify it at £11000. I believe they had to have all kinds of modifications to meet type approval EU regs

  • that is a bit much...about

    11,000.00 GBP = 17,892.05 USD

and it'll never go at that price and if more to get it to fit US regs...too bad :(

  • Thats basically the Morris Oxford but in India where they are still made they are known as the Ambassador. No idea what engine they use in them

  • They use ISUZU engine.

  • Thanks for the update on the ISUZU engine

  • My pleasure Sir:

It's a British Design, Japanese Engine, Indian Car!

    :-) (latest models only)

  • This isnt a 1948 model, this is the Series II that was made during 1954 to 1956...

  • I used to work for Burman Hi-ton who made the steering columns for Ambassdors. it was legend that most people who owned an Amby, could repair them with the most basic of tools, and knowledge. great cars and reliable

  • ambys(as affectionately called) are still produced in India and are the best tourist cars available.also ,the economy of 18kmpl of diesel means this car is a very viable one :) .thats why India loves Amby.

  • This is more like the series 111 Oxford from 1956/57.

  • You are right, this is the Oxford II, not the Oxford MO...

  • Toyota and Hindustan motors started on the same era i think, look at toyota and HM now.......Ambassador never met the modification expectancy of new generation.they need to keep up with world. Still most people love its rigidity and toughness though.

  • great video and a really cool car!^_^

  • Are they easy to maintain?.

  • It's Uttarpara, WEST Bengal! East Bengal is Bangladesh (a different country--not in India). :-)

  • Thank you, friend! You were absolutely right. I have made the necessary correctios as well in the description. Thanks for viewing it and pointinf this out to me.

    Cheers,

    Kris Kandath

  • You're welcome! glad to help. I love these cars! thanks for the vid

  • what diesel engine does it have?

    what bhp etc?

I would prefer this to a modern car.

  • @kandath THIS IS RECORDED IN KERALA BECAUSE THE PLATE IS KL 08

  • @ThatsSoRavin it is kerala you lunatic, look at the numberplate.

  • @gandhikng I didn't say where it was located. I was talking to the person posting the video where he made an error in describing where the Amby factory was located.

Don't be so quick to call people names. If you are going to invoke Gandhi in your username, then at least demonstrate some of his ideals.

  • Nice car!!!

My grandmother had a white one.
