I equate the violence and hate in some of his lyrics to violent video games: Only a fucking retard would take it so seriously to let it affect their life in a negative way.

As a kid (13 or so) listening to Eminem, his music served as a rage coolant and a comedy for me, with a few of his serious songs just being amazing.

I'm more of a metal guy now, but I got a soft spot for Eminem. Cleanin out my closet, lose yourself, and sing for the moment. amazing.

I can't stand the new stuff though.

I started listenin to Em when TES came out (was a lil too young when SSLP & MMLP dropped), am now 18 and still a fan. His new shit is dope, it's just different style. He still has crazy lyrics and his flow is doper than ever now, the only thing is it's just a lot of randomness thrown at you on Relapse. I like his songs that have more structure and deeper meaning. Hopefully he gives us that with Relapse 2. But you're right about the rage coolant thing. his songs did me more good than bad.
