The 2,000 page Health Care Reform Bill was not fiscally responsible. The Congressional Budget Office was told to score the bill collecting 10 years of taxes providing six years of coverage. This is not fiscally responsible.

In the early 1990's, the Dems adopted a pay-as-you-go requirement for Congressional Appropriations. This, together with financial restraint, led to a balanced budget and almost eliminated our accumulated National Debt. I saw it as a Miracle! The GOP believes in spend and borrow. They came to office in 2000 and cut taxes for the wealthiest. Those cuts came out of productive investment, going straight to money market. The Fed cut interest rates to prop it up; the rest is history. Shame.

The Congressional Budget Office was told to score the Health Care Reform Bills of both the House and Senate based on collecting 10 years of taxes providing 6 years of coverage. There were lots of nasty stuff in them, like mandatory jailtime, health vouchers for pets, and lots of sweetheart deals.
It was not about reforming health care, but about accumulating power. It did not save money, but would have contributed to bankrupting it.

The Stimulus Bill was $862 Billion. Only a third of it was spent as the Democrats plan to use the remaining 2/3rds as a "slush fund" for their re-election campaigns.
Honestly, economists never recognized jobs saved before the Obama administration spun the results of it that way. Four million people lost their jobs in 2009. The state and local government that obtained some money to save their workers for a year or so, should have been more fiscally responsible to begin with.

Interestingly, the two largest recent expansion of entitlements were under Republicans, including COLA increases on benefits by Nixon and pharmaceutical coverage under Medicare by Bush. In Bush's case, the plan was unfunded and requirement an all you can eat "pork" offering to GOP Congressmen, who filled up their plates as they always do. Being dominated by Southern pols, pork is king in the GOP.

They are talking about Secret Service checking everyone entering the school. Here in Europe we all hope that Obama will become elected. We need somebody intelligent and someone who really understands world affairs. The Bush era was disastrous for the world. Unsuccessful and costly wars with, American men dying or coming back traumatised. Petrol prices increase in spite of Iraq being the 2nd oil supplier in the world. World financial crisis, you name it, etc. We now need CHANGE.
